      Robinson did get up there! Jordan has his elbow at rim level and the huge majority of elbow at rim level dunks are not just blocked (unless you are 7'2 and with enough hoops to put your head at rim level like Robinson).
      Regardless, it's funny how amazed I was by a 6'6 being blocked by a 7'2, I guess that tells me something

    This is at the old Hemisphere Fair Arena that Pat Riley stated on the Tonight Show when asked by Jay Leno if Madison Square Garden or the Boston Garden was the toughest place to play at. Pat told him it was the Hemisphere Arena. He told Jay that the Spurs has a rowdy bunch called the Baseline Bums that led the Spurs fans from the beginning of a game to the end making it the rowdiest place to play. He told a story of the “Bums” getting under Kareem’s skin. He also stated that when the Hemisphere was rocking it seemed as if the place was going to implode. I was there for many of the Lakers-Spurs battles. It would get crazy up in there.
    I was up in LA in 2017, sporting my Spurs gear. I was pleasantly surprised as Lakers fans would walk up to me and express how much respect they had for the Spurs. They would recall some of the games that had them at the edge of their seats. I was taken aback by this n informed them that I was also on the edge of my seat not knowing what the outcome would be as well. I admired the Lakers as well in the ‘80’s. I would call that the NBA’s greatest decade. To see the Lakers-Celtics, Lakers-Sixers, Lakers-Pistons battles were great for the NBA.
    Now if only the Suns n Mavericks fans could do the same when they see me in my Spurs gear 😂😂 they always shout obscenities at me lol it’s all in good fun.

    "On top of that, Robinson is still, by far, the most skilled center to play in the NBA since the mid 80s."

    That's a great debate, because both we're freakishly gifted athleticly. Both also ran the floor like small fowards, we're lightning quick and had amazing footwork. The two most athletic and quickest centers i've ever seen.

    Robinson's blocks at the beginning would not be possible in today's NBA with the defensive three second rule. In Jordan's day that was not a rule making it tougher to score.

    I meant Robinson was on par with Olajuwon athletically. Yes the 'Dream' was a better player than the 'Admiral' was, that's not what i was debating. On an athletic level Robinson was on par with Olajuwon without a doubt. But yeah the 'Dream' was an absolute beast.

    0:30 Robinson talks trash to Jordan the rest was history. notice how the triangle offense was seldom used in this game, it which iso-dominant 5:28 a bulls player sets a screen for MJ- which is an oddity for anyone who has been watching Jordan-era bulls games.

    • @bubufubu
      @bubufubu 5 лет назад +2

      "talks trash to Jordan"? They both gave each other a pat, but I don't see or hear anything remotely resembling trash talk. Robinson wasn't really the trash talking type anyway. You pretty much had to act like Shaquille O'Neal (i.e. a real asshole) to get Robinson to do something out of character. These were the days when both the Rockets and Spurs were very formidable opponents for the Bulls. All I see here is quiet confidence from Robinson as well as respect between him and Jordan. Robinson, as talented as he was, had every reason to be confident.

      @@bubufubu Quite the opposite. If you watch a lot of the Spurs games you will hear Robinson yell "get that outta here" when he blocks a shot. You can hear him saying it here as well.

      50 point playoff games since 1984. Jordan - 8. Rest of the league combined - 13. Kobe - 1. Lebron - 0. Some people just don't know how great Jordan was.

      Its not going to happen, players develop too slowly, are too injury prone and mentally vulnerable. Money and social factors dictate people’s play and location.

    @mr10tomidnight It's not so much about killer instinct as it is about teammates. Jordan had Pippen and Grant/Rodman. Rodman was the only top-30 NBA player (not all-time, just during each season) Robinson ever played with before Duncan was drafted.
    The Spurs dropped from 59 wins to 20 wins the season Robinson was injured. The season after Jordan's first retirement, the Bulls dropped from 57 to 55 games and were a few unlucky plays against the Magic from making the finals.

    THERE WAS NO ONE BETTER THAN MICHAEL IN 92! IF YOU MEASURE WHAT EACH DID IN THEIR RESPECTIVE POSITIONS AND HOW THEY LEAD THEIR TEAMS, YOU MIGHT HAVE AN ARGUMENT ON THAT BUT IN THE END IT WAS MICHAEL THAT LED HIS TEAM TO A CHAMPIONSHIP AND WON THAT CHAMPIONSHIP WHILE ROBINSON IN HIS PERSPECTIVE DIVISION WAS ELIMINATED FROM THE PLAY OFFS! THIS WILL ANSWER THAT PREVIOUS ALLEGATION FROM BLACKADAM06 NO ONE HAD MORE COURAGE IN THE PAINT THEN JORDAN, HE TAKE THE LOW POST AND WOULD FINISH A TEAM!
