Wonder where you saw it on the internet with someone using it on a Z7 🤔 😅 I know after using this lens it certainly deserves it pro tag! Thanks for sharing your opinion of the lens.
Thank you, Adrian! I've seen you and Snapchick (Leigh & Raymond) use this lens on a Z7 and another reviewer used it on a Z8. As long as it's a high-res FX camera, it works just fine as you demonstrated.
That is a cool lens. It is similar to the Signma lenses that I have been using that Hassan loaned me. Also, thanks for the knowledge dump about the ND filter. Lots of people don’t realize that. The photos also show for themselves, third party glass has come ALONG way…👍
I have their 13mm 1.4 for Fuji which is a great lens. They’ve stepped it up of late. They are all on the heavy side though. Larger than some full frame glass.
Thank you! I have my eye on that 27mm 1.2. They usually release a new lens for Fuji-film X first and then, a few months later, release a version for Nikon and Sont APSC. So, hopefully, I'll be able to review that new 27 in early 2024.
Well done Viltrox, they are truly in the game !!! Great review and pictures Phil ! Not sure how many bird portraits you will be able to get with this one! Ha ha, good day !
Thank you, Miguel! I would have loved to test a Sony version on my a6700 but I was happy to get a Nikon version. One day they will make a Z90 and I'll be ready! :)
Thank you, Leon! The Laowa 90 2x Macro for Sony and this Viltrox 75 1.2 for Nikon Z Dx were both review samples sent to me by the companies. I got to review two really great lenses in a row!
I don't do portraits enough to purchase one of those $2000+ dollar first-party primes, but this lens produces similar results for 1/4 the price. It's quite an achievement.
Could we potentially see the Viltrox lens in a sport or action setting? I’d like to know how something like the z50 with this lens does for indoor basketball or football type photos? Just to see if the lens can keep up with movement?
Interesting video. Many companies claim weather sealing, but unless they give an IP international standard rating of greater than 55 the claims or "weather resistent" or "weatherproof" are just talk. Most iPhones are rated to IP 67. Olympus is the only company I am aware of that publishes its IP ratings.
So would you use it for sports? For volleyball to e precise? I'm using 70-200 2.8 but would love to get my iso down but because very poor light conditions I cant and I wondered if that lense would work, maybe not for extremely fast actions but maybe for some ?
I think it’s struggles to focus too much on the Z 50 and I think it is the fault of the Z50. If Nikon had a better APC camera then Maybe. The next issue is the viltrox focus motor is a little slow for sports. This is an amazing portrait lens but I’m just not sure about it for sports.
So I bought this lens and today had a chance to use it for volleyball match and you were right AF is to slow, so lots of shots were missed. That said when AF did hit right I got pictures with iso below 1000 which is very nice. I could not get AF-C on my Z6ii to work so I shot with AF-S which is probably why number of missed shots is rather high. The fact that I have Z6 less than a month also did not helped :) But for anyone wondering - for indoor sport you should probably go for something with faster AF.
Honestly, there are plenty of great full frame lenses out there. Not many APSC, especially for Nikon. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Viltrox make more full frame glass too, but I think I appreciate these APSC lenses more.
@@PhilThachI agree with you about the lack of quality APS-C lenses. Nearly all the high end glass is full frame. Also, both of my canon full frame mirrorless cameras (RP, R6) have crop mode so I can use the APS-C glass at a reduced resolution without issues.
The Viltrox 75mm and 27mm are one of the best lenses out there for my xt5. Viltrox is a Chinese brand so this is one way for China to try take over the world😅😅😅
To me, this is the most exciting APS-C lens to be released since the Laowa 65mm macro lens. The equivalent of a full frame 112mm f/1,8 is impressive!
Hi Micael! I agree, it’s quite an achievement. What is even more impressive is it’s stellar optical performance!

Awesome lens, good pics and a great family Mr. Phil, y'all rock! 👍🤘Greetz Marco, The Netherlands.
Thank you, Marco! :)
For my Z5 I have the 24, 35, and 85mm that I shoot quite a bit. But I want an APSC for this lens extremely bad. It looks so impressive.
It’s a great lens. 👍
Very nice review, I have the Vilrox forNikon 56mm and love it. Phil , yes college students are always hungry lol. Cool robot delivery service.
Thank you! The 56 is very good too!
I have their 13mm 1.4 for Fuji which is a great lens. They’ve stepped it up of late. They are all on the heavy side though. Larger than some full frame glass.
I have that 13 mm 1.4 for Nikon, I agree, it’s very good. That’s a very good point about weight.
Looks like a nice lens. They’ve also released a 27mm pro. It should be good to. You made some nice portraits of your Daughter.

Nice review sir good job 👍👌
Thank you!
Great review! Really great shots. I see you went to Smash Burgers. We took our son there last night.
Thank you! We really enjoyed the food there.
Nice video! You got me thinking again. The Nikon 85mm 1.8 is on my shopping list for next year. That lens is about $700. I will consider this now.
Thank you, George!

Thank you, JRod! I really is a special lens.
Thanks so much for sharing another wonderful video like always Phil, that lens is beautiful, I am looking forward to get it for Sony. 👍🤗

@@espl7274 thank you!
Absolutely love this lens on my Fuji cameras!
It’s outstanding and Fuji got their version months ahead of Nikon and Sony.
Looks like a sweet lens and you made some great photos.
One thing not mentioned, did you purchase these recent lenses for review?
Thank you, Leon! The Laowa 90 2x Macro for Sony and this Viltrox 75 1.2 for Nikon Z Dx were both review samples sent to me by the companies. I got to review two really great lenses in a row!

That's a very good point. Still, some attempt at rain and dustproofing is better than none.
looks like a cool lens.
It's a pretty special portrait lens and a huge value.
still waiting for ff version

Est t'il meilleur que le sigma 56 mm 1.4 ?
I think if you have room to get a little further from you subject the answer is yes, but if you don't then no.
