I watched one of these machines IRL some years ago. Absolutely awesome! One poor guy though was running up and down the train trying to replace hydraulic hoses as they failed. There are literally hundreds of them. Hoses are the weak part of most hydraulic systems.

This is what is called technology ,here in India it takes decades to change meter gauge to broad gauge just a stretch of 50 km or above while this technology would have been taken just months or fortnight ,poor and ill equipped Indian railways
Indian railway fo have Rail milling machine,grinding machine,Ballast cleaning,packing maching,dyanamic tampers,TRT,UNIMAT,DUOMAT etc.NDA govt aim is complete automation by 2024.
I do not know who invented it. But it is an Austrian company that builds these machines. There is no company in Germany that builds such a machine. ;-)
My advised is our country Railway Ministry to learn another railways system that how they are improving the railway system to provide better journey facilities of their poor men.

Unless the union was getting kickbacks from the machinery company, and the actual railroad brought it in they would scream and cry about lost wages! If they were getting the kickbacks themselves, it'd be the best thing since sliced bread, keeping the brothers and sisters from that demeaning manual labor!!!!
While it is a cool machine all it does is put people out of work and that really is the bottom line for railroads. Over hear in America we are still running on old relayed welded rail from probably the early 70's and some of it dates back a lot farther than that.
In the not-too-distant future, they'll probably have track laying, track replacing, machines like this running at 50 or 60mph, covering hundreds of miles each day.
