Windows phone had soo much potential. It's really sad that Microsoft dropped the ball hard. They could have setup windows phone to be like Google fi. They had skype that had the capability to send and receive calls and texts, but for some reason not only did they never integrate that, they charged extra for it. They should have never stopped developing and innovating with windows mobile. They could still be dominating the mobile market like they were back in the early 2000's. Apple is only just now getting similar features with being able to run ios apps in osx and you need M1 or later to do it. Lets not even get started how Microsoft competently wasted continuum. They could have had used that for cars and a auto mode, but they never did. What killed that feature was them releasing it too soon. The list of continuum compatible apps was very small. But the feature was really nice. I found myself using it a lot in the bedroom hooked into a monitor with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Imagine a Lumia 3050XL with 16gb or ram and a nvidia mobile processor that could replace your laptop and be a portable xbox.

when i first held this phone in 2013. i instantly disliked it. it was so confusing for me since, i was used to andriod ui. apart from this, i was unable to install the most popular apps and share them to my friends through offline. back in those days internet was costly for indians, so installing a 'temple run' without sharing was a headache. there was no file manager in this phone at start. i used to think what the F, this has to be important think to see whether you have the file that has been downloaded. I never held an iphone during those time. i have iphone know and i realize windows was choosing the iphone path at it's initial day by having it's own windows store. which finally Fkd it up. Andriod was ahead of it's game during that time and still now too. third party installation was the best economical way to have apps from friends so you can save unnecessary wastage
My Lumia 929 was the best phone I've ever owned. I was never as happy and productive as when I had that phone. My wife can back me up as to how often I say "I wish I had my Windows Phone back" even to this day.
So I dug out the 929 and got it booted up. When I last left it I had wiped it completely, so it had nothing on it. Unfortunately that means that virtually all of the apps are not available including the built in ones (even Calculator) and it asks if I want to search the store for them, which crashes back to the home screen. This includes Mail, Calendar, Office, Skype and most others. However, Edge, Photos, Camera and People still work so at least there's that. Have any luck or tips on how to get anything else back? I did try restoring my phone from a previous OneDrive backup, but it failed. Note: I'm writing this comment on the 929!

With todays world of working from home, carrying your work laptop from home to work to connect to a docking station with only a USB-C cable, now is the perfect time for Windows Mobile to return. Allow us to put Windows Mobile on any android-based phone. Microsoft rarely does hardware and they should avoid it if they can. Just let us put Windows where we want. Let me use my Windows Mobile as my single device to connect to everything. To plug in at my docking station at home to use as my low end home PC. Let me plug it in at work to use as my work laptop. Let me carry it around as my mobile phone. It would be the perfect device for today and genuinely has a chance to take the work phone market from Apple, which would then bleed into the consumer market as people just get used to and like their work phone OS.

I loved the 1520 and 1020 quite a bit. The 930 is awesome...the 700 series I have are great...I think it has to be a tie between the 920 and the 830 for me. The Stormtrooper 920 build was amazing but the 830...just a slim and awesome design.
Wait how did you get those apps on windows 8.1 in 2022? Or its windows 10?
It is Windows 10.
@@StevealiciousTech ah ok,planning to get a lumia 530 with a 64 gb sd btw
These phones are gorgeous.. amazing camera, excellent build quality, non-boring eye catching design, snappy user experience.. the keyboard - I haven't used such a smooth snappy responsive keyboard on a touch device ever! and the beautiful bright OLED display. There has to be a way of keeping these working or could someone create an archive of all of the apps ever made for the phone and put them on a server of some sort that the Windows store could connect to.. I dunno how much work would be involved or if it would be possible to 'Trick' the phone into thinking its connecting to Microsoft's servers!??
Such a shame to let such well designed pieces of hardware go to waste
Definitely a shame having to let them go!!
I still have that phone i miss windows
I would like to know is it possible to use office, offline or online?
Offline for sure and as long as you are still signed in currently, it should work online I believe if you are on Windows 10.
@@StevealiciousTech many thanks. I need it to use offline, for job. In that case I'm going to buy one. Any recommendations?
Does anyone know what carrier you can use a windows phone on?
Works fine on EE
Just bought 2 brand new windows phones gonna do a 30 day challenge only using windows phones I bought a elite x3 and lumia 950XL
Make a video, And make sure that both of the Windows phones run the latest version of Windows 10 Mobile.
I'm glad teres still a couple of people who actually got to experience windows phone personally i loved it and wish it would have survived.
Absolutely! Would've been cool to see today.
can no longer signin to MyTube.. it says MyTube sent an invalid request, contact the developer.. It loads just a couple of videos, the rest is just black screen...
Definitely sad...was the best app left.
Excellent review bro
Thanks for watching!
Here maps is actually pretty good. It uses yelp for reviews like apple maps and the navigation wasn't bad.
Monument browser is still supported on windows phone and it is an web browser
I will check that out!
Still have a 1520 and a 950
I'm still waiting on getting a 950!
@@StevealiciousTech snagged one on Swappa for like 85 bucks. The 1520 is an AT&T version but it's no longer on the whitelist but the 950 is
I have, and still use, a 950 as my alternate/back-up phone. Great camera, great phone! Also got it because it was on the AT&T white list.
The lumia line was beautiful, fun, the interface was perfect, the metro UI , the performance and everything in between!!!! now phones are boring!!
I just brought a lumia 1520 in red.
Microsoft Lumia 950 Windows Phone is the best Phone I ever used
Pretty good for sure!
I want to buy the Lumia 950XL again was such a sick phone! A beast of a phone just got really hot. I wonder if I can crack it easily enough to put android apps on it
I don't think so about the Android apps but a great phone for sure!
@@StevealiciousTech oh yeah! If you have a 950XL and a HP Elite X3... Would love a video on the usability between them today. Day to day stuff including screen quality and battery life... And speed
We need a release on the windows phones!
Someone needs to swoop in and refresh the Nokia Windows style phone. If BlackBerry can get spiritual successors then so should this gem of an era.
Had to get a 1520 for £30 how could I say no Shame Windows phone didn't survive really do miss it
Can you use TikTok on it & have you checked out the 2020 Nokia Lumia?
I was forced to move from windows phone to android phone 😌😌
I still have the Lumia 830 and the Lumia 640.
I had latest windows 10 on lumia 640xl, it was f**king slow. I want to go back to windows 8.1 but app store support is ended.
Then I came across a telegram channel, there were guides about how to unlock bootloader of lumia and sideload apps. They also had tons of packages to sideload.
Last night I installed windows 8.1 and sideloaded some apps & games. Wp8.1 browser is more broken, but atleast the device is fast and usable now.
I'm still using my windows phone Nokia Lumia 730 as an alarm clock
Any way to keep them working!
It's UI was way ahead of it's time
I think Windows Phone was destined to explode in popularity a year or so after they discontinued it. Microsoft should have stuck with it.
We could certainly use it now...that's for sure...innovation would be nice at this point.
To bad no one can get the source code to make custom roms for windows phone. That would be great to keep it alive.
That would be cool!
we shut develop on W11/GoOS/Chromium
What abt whatsapp? And any other messenger?
If I could use mobile banking I'd happily be using by Nokia 930 I've still kept.
Yeah, things like that and whatsapp really crushed how they could be used.
I miss how smooth windows phones ran…
Absolutely...such a shame!
Where Can I buy in 2022
Try ebay
I would say Windows Phone / Mobile was my first Mobile OS to see, I would says it much more fluid and buttery smoother than Android and iOS when my mom bought Nokia Lumia 500 series back in 2013 that's it's run Windows Phone 8.1, Not only mom and I saw my old teacher also bought the Lumia too and she says the phone OS look much smoother. Man it's sad that developers treats Windows Phone / Mobile like crap that causing Microsoft killed those legendary Mobile OSes... Man miss old days.
Miss them as well!
hey man...part of this video is shown in coldfusion video...😀😍
Lol yep! Thanks for watching!
I miss this OS so much
Me too!
Got me one of the phones I always wanted in the mail today nokia 1520
Still want one of those!
Lumia 950.
The MS-DOS demo was for you!
@@StevealiciousTech thanks a million. Its still a fantastic app. Lots of other great apps. Pity the platform was allowed to die.
when i first held this phone in 2013. i instantly disliked it.
it was so confusing for me since, i was used to andriod ui. apart from this, i was unable to install the most popular apps and share them to my friends through offline. back in those days internet was costly for indians, so installing a 'temple run' without sharing was a headache. there was no file manager in this phone at start. i used to think what the F, this has to be important think to see whether you have the file that has been downloaded.
Im still using mine. Daily use 😉
Lucky!!!
I miss Windows Phone 🥲🥲
I left when WhatsApp stopped working. Loved Cortana though.
Yeah, that was a killer...wished they had kept that one going a little longer!
Romania still has 2G and 3G
My Lumia 929 was the best phone I've ever owned. I was never as happy and productive as when I had that phone. My wife can back me up as to how often I say "I wish I had my Windows Phone back" even to this day.
Absolutely with you! Still miss my 1020 when I was able to daily carry it!
I will never put my windows phone down
And you shouldn't!!
Have used Windows on computer since 90's. Then came Win8 😒👎 hate it how it looks and work. Except, in Lumia, I love the way it looks and works... way better than Android/iOS styled icons and shhht. Still got my Lumia 550 and 620 working ... 🤓
Does Whatsapp still work?
No, unfortunately not!
