You did the right thing the check the oil pick up. Many have got clogged, so you did the right thing to check it, as it’s extremely important, clean sump and oil pick up
I had a similar case on my Citroen C4 1.4 16v (KFU engine): low idle oil pressure when the engine (oil) is hot. Replacing the oil sensor, oil pump, oil filter, class 5w40 oil from one brand to another, the timing variator and oil valve, and blowing the oil channels did not work. The solution was to change the oil to a different 5w50 grade (Elf Evolution) + one can "STP Motor Doctor" additive added when engine was hot.
This problem have easy solution. The solution is set in motion and clean the valve in the oil filter bowl (6:50). I have C4 2006 120000kms with this engine and this problem appeared although the oil was changing every year (for 17 years is 7000kms average) and ONLY used the manufacturer prescribed Total quartz 9000 5W40. This is typical problem of this engine, but not dangerous. 8V engines (KFW) can have same problem too. Older TU engines (KDX,KFX etc), which are technically almost same as KFU and KFW, have not this problem, cause oil filter is mounted straight into the block and this valve is not there. I also have old ZX break with 1.4 KDX 240000kms and engine still running as new...
That's the case with most things. But some things need just a bit more care than others, and because of that, they get the stamp "unreliable". What of course isn't completely fair.
