- Welcome to the dystopian walled city called Rogue City.
Surrounded by high military and technologically advanced walls separating the privileged and lucky ones from the wastelanders and a dangerous world.
After attacks from out of this world, giant corporates and governments around the world decided to create safe havens to protect the human race from extermination.
The cities that still exist are all walled and connected with each other for trade and sustainable cooperation.
The threat from outer space is still ongoing due to their species are still roaming our abandoned cities, hence the walls.
Life in these cities are very peaceful but hectic due to their overcrowded situation. Slums around the walls occurred when the city decided to not let everyone in immediately. Therefore, there's a waiting list, a long one. People living in slums still can enter the city to work or for a limited amount of time.
The city itself is very multicultural. The biggest populations are Americans, Europeans and people from the Korean-Japanese area.
No one knows when the threat is over, but it could last for centuries.

This isn't just a game anymore. This is art.
This isn't even CS anymore its a mod eye sore. I find these mods to take away from the real art and challenge. Easy to download a program to make things look good harder to do it with the assets given. Shame how many people get credit where it's no longer due. Everyone needs mods and cheats to play and win. Then us people with actual skill get looked over because we don't use lazy mod methods we diligently work with what developers give us.

It's not because someone subscribed to over 2000+ assets and mods that they're making it easier for themselves. It's actually hardder, I played vanilla for 2 years and got bored and when I started using mods and assets, the game was interesting again, people who use mods and assets don't play the game for the same reasons than those who play vanilla. You play vanilla because you want to experience CS like it was meant to be played and experienced, we play with mods and assets because we want to make our imagination reality or recreate a real life city in CS. the visions are not the same and shouldn'd be compared to one another. Also when you know that the crew back a Creative Assembly play their own game WITH mods and assets, I don't know what else there is to say. Let everyone enjoy this beautiful game the way they want.

This is so insanely realistic I got drawn into it and forgot it was Cities Skylines and not real life. Splendid work, excellent build, and a job well done!
As not only a Cities player, but a writer, I am not only completely entranced by this city, but I can also totally imagine a full-on story taking place with this as the setting

I love the city, there is so much detail in the urban environment and the exterior it is beautiful and very realistic, and wow the story that also explains the situation and also my god it must have taken you a long time! Can’t wait to see more of Rogue City and your other projects, also how many people live there ?

It looks like the "slums" are what's outside the city walls at 1m12s to 2m46s. More like at 2m08s mark.

Lol nice, very clearly a Blade Runner/Cyberpunk inspired near-future build. It also somewhat reminds me of that ghetto mafia-run city featured in Looper. Also, the fact that humanity is at war with aliens in your fictional city tells me that it’s also in the Stellaris version of Earth. The Paradox Games Universe is real after all I guess lol.
Wow this is stunning. Its also remarkable how easily this city bares its history and the commentary it makes. Obviously an intensely capitalistic and class divided City which, dystopian or not, offers a somewhat comfortable and safe existence inside its walls, but also a likely soul sucking life for all but the wealthy few.
Daaaaammmn this is an insane project! Seriously awesome, gigantic in scale, I can hear your PC cry over here when you let this run ;) Just.. wow, super awesome build! Great choice of music to go along with it, really sets the dystopian vibe!

Yo this is dope this kinda reminds me of Ba Sing Se in the way like how the walls separated the rich from the poor with the rich living in the interior with the big building and skyline while the poor lives on the exterior in the slums Ngl this is quiet fascinating if they ever did a show with a fictional city, this should be number 1!

a side note: it has a lot of Chinese vibes with western corporations and American architecture.
The scary thing is that this cyberpunk-style project is futuristic, but eliminating the Future/Apocalypse vibe, it is not very different from modern china which would not be surprising if 100 to 200 years from now will look like this one.
You know the thing that scares me the most about seeing places like this? Can you imagine never touching actual soil or grass? Like, feeling a soft, uneven surface beneath your feet? You don't even touch the actual earth unless you manage to find a park or a construction site. You live in a concrete, steel, and glass cocoon. That has to have some sort of psychological effect on people, being insulated from the very planet they live on. It's a funny thing to think about too, just consider the last time you saw a bare patch of soil within the deep core of Night City other than when you leave its walls or enter the suburbs, or industrial/trade areas. Then consider that some people never do leave that little postage stamp of their existence, or have very little reason to leave their part of town.
This is like a mix of that walled futuristic city in Maze Runner and the cyberpunk dystopia in Blade Runner.

Is this inspired by that one big city in the maze runner books and films because i think it looks pretty damn similar because its a modern cyberpunk city sorounded by a wall surounded by slums and a a desert

This Reminds me of Sirica City from Meta Runner when I look inside the "Metropolis".
It tells the story of a dystopian future against the backdrop of a world that has succumbed to the climate crisis. Beautiful, captivating, ominous.
I hope the Walled up cities develop very fast to eradicate hsotile alien species. What a mind blowing city you've built.

What i like the most about this city is that it got a little bit of new york with aon center from LA and the city layout is from Shanghai like if you put all of those cities in one big city
Now that's a city I'd hate to live in, it's so much the sort of city I'd anticipate seeing buildings with corporation names like "OCP", "Weyland-Yutani" or "Umbrella Corp." on.

What's the population? even just inside the walls?
Also it would probably make more sense to build a second wall curtain around the slums and then gradually improve it rather than move more people into the already crowded city.
That being said this is some great work, I'm a sucker for "cyberpunk walled city surrounded by post apocalyptic wasteland" settings, even better when it's the result of an alien invasion, I can just picture "City Ruins" from NieR Automata playing in some of those abandoned cities while questionably dressed combat androids clear them out of remaining aliens.
Thanks for your comment! The current total pop including the inner city and slums is around 450000 cims. I want to continue on it but it's started to become really laggy, which gets me annoyed and hesitant to continue it. Rogue City isn't dead yet(still works fine, yet laggy(11fps)). Thanks, I wanted to create a different story then just wars between countries/corporations.

This was a wonderful random find! I keep wanting to do something like this, like I used to do in SimCity 4 back in the day: make all my own buildings, lots, and misc assets to give a city a cohesive look and branding without going through the headache of finding the perfect mods out there and dealing with the monstrous dependency downloads that SC4 modding is notorious for. I want to do that for Cities Skylines, but after I bought the DLCs, I stopped eing able to run any mods with only 16gb of RAM. Hell, even getting above 10k pop with nothing but Move-it and Anarachy mods tends to make the nodes break when loading into the city, letters turn into Junimo language from Stardew Valley, and if I'm lucky I'll even get error notices. I want nothing more than to get into this games modding and buiding, but I need to beef up my laptops memory before thats going to be possible ; ;
This city is beyond inspiring, to the point that my heart is breaking because I'm not able to get this far into a build lol
Hey Chloe, you should/could upgrade your amount of RAM(if your laptop allows you to). I started playing CS with just 16gb and it always restricted me to create mainly vanilla cities with barely anything from the workshop. I think I only have 2 DLC's here. If you know how to use the mods you won't need to buy all DLC's. Haha, the Junimo language, same happens to me everytime I play.

I wonder how the area laws could be kept, when there is also road to be laid underneath, as it it a City legal right to do whatever it wishes to do with their inhabitants and constructions. And when there is slight movement of a building regarding the neighbours. Or How does the area law work out when the property area starts to be bigger because of moving of the building which should be the point of local reference. And if it would make a sense to place moving constructions which would steal neighbors area, by naming them permanent buildings. And to make law in such a way to disallow making such constructions to be legally buildings because of their deliberate purpose of moving. And stealing cubic metres from neighbors. sry, i find using sentences quite constraining lol
on 3:05 , saw Gate 8 appear on the entrance gate. What' s the name of the asset display gate 8 ?
That's a mix of the 'quad barricade' assets. You'll need Procedural Objects to make them smaller because these assets are like skyscraper size.
