Great review Ben! The original ZV-1 is still one of my favorites to this day, but the M2 is really awesome if you shoot wide content. For anyone having an issue with the grip/ergonomics, consider getting a Smallrig cage with a grip. That was the gamechanger for me!
I bought this camera a few weeks ago and really like it. Before this I was using my iphone and gopro - which I still also use both. Ever since getting this I reach for the iphone so much less now - one reason being that this camera's audio is much better esp since it has the furry windscreen. I'm happy with the footage on auto but the only thing is on 4K it burns through batteries - so I got a few extras. Still use the gopro quite a bit in a lot situations since the sony's stability is nowhere near it.
I didn’t even need to watch your review to know your title was 100% spot on. In combination with its tripod it is super easy for me to take along on work trips for video and to use as a better webcam. The reach and f-stop are a bit less than I’d like but it’s a fine compromise for what I actually need it for.
I purchased a ZV-1F to hold off till a newer version would come out, and I got the ZV1M2. Returned mine, to go back and Picked up my same ZV1M2 at a Much better Low price then the full price when this came out, Happy. Now Sony has taken steps back with this camera and offering it at today's Economy prices, everything in Life has gone up, yet anyone sees that. WIth the Audio Level 14 DB on ext mic 3 bars. you should note your actual audio settings for all
I'm using the ZV-1 as my main camera for the channel and for all of our product photos. I doubt the m2 has the same versatility, especially considering that the portable factor isn't important for my use case, but photography is. But you did a very nice review of the camera, the production value is top notch, as usual 🙂
Thanks for the review. I LOVE that they favored the width over quality zoom. That was a deal breaker before. I mean it's a vlogger camera. Who is zooming in?? Probably going to get this one for RUclips videos and gigs.
One of the best review on this camera! I'am considering buying zv1 m2 but the lack of stabiliser scares me. BTW Did you colour grade your video additionally? Because the quality is awsome compared to other reviews that were shooting with m2 but maybe it's just my view.
Great and honest review. It is a great camera. Sony did something that i don’t understand why there is not much hype on about 18mm with F1.8 in the camera. That is something very very unusual to make or produce in a small camera. Plus the lens can be zoomed up to 50mm. If it interchangeable lens, we know Sony could do it. However no manufacturer has even produce interchangeable lens with 18-50mm f1.8 to f4. Most they could do by producing an f4 lens with 18-50mm focal length.
Biggest upgrade is the 18mm lens and USB-c plug instead of micro USB, personally they should have done a 10-50mm lens and I would have already upgraded from my Sony ZV1 which is my pocket camera, the 18mm does not seem worth the upgrade since everything else is pretty much the same at the end of the day none of the upgrades are game changers that will make a big difference in day to day use. My main camera is the Sony ZV E10 and I have the Sony 10-18mm lens permanently attached.

I would love to see the same camera with a 10-70mm zoom, I would upgrade to that in a heart beat.

Hmmm... I am debating this Sony camera or the DJI Osmo Action 4. I like this because it has the zoom & has more blurred out background. But, the f/4 is a bit sad The lack of waterproofness may also be an issue Looking for something for hiking videos; vlogs & product reviews

Just a though! A good and cheap capture card only cost $20 CAD in Amazon. I have used since 2 years without any issues. Don't waste your money with Expensive capture cards...
7:02 Slow and blurry. What are some high resolution cameras that don't have this problem? It does look like he is in 4K here and at 24fps. Are there any similar cameras that offer higher fps at high resolutions?

How this can be marketed as the best vlogging camera is beyond me. It might be fine if it’s set up on a tripod, however the second you pick it up and start walking around with it, which I assume is what most vloggers do, it’s an absolute shambles! I recorded the below video with it earlier today, watch the first 2 minutes and look at the utter state of the image stabilisation. It’s absolutely headache inducing. Unfortunately you didn't talk about the background blur in the Talking Head scenario + didn't compare side to side with Iphone 13+... :( Sounds like a perfect camera but I suspect it can't beat Sony ZV E10 with 56mm for talking head

It's always super helpful. But yeah, if the blur is like in your video, it is enough i'd say, considering that the background is not too far away and still there's some blur. Btw. - despite my little complain, I really like your camera reviews, they're way up there with the top 3, talking about really relevant stuff, flaws and showcasing. I'm doing headshot vids with Sony ZV-E10 + Sigma 56mm lense. Quality is perfect, but a bit cumbersome handling, I think the ZV1M2 should be twice as user friendly..

Yep! I color grade all of my videos
You can always load the footage into catalyst browse for stabilization! It takes a while, but it can be worth it depending on the project.

I think you’ll enjoy the zv1ii better for that, as it is a lot more convenient you’ll probably reach for it far more often than the zve10ii

Great for shooting 4-minute videos on sunny days at 1080p. I love it when it shuts down without warning because the temperature is over 80 degrees.

Being a Canon user if you had neither which would you choose ZV1, ZV1 MK2 or ZV-E10?
If you have the budget, the E10 gives the most room for growth because of the interchangeable lenses
