I woke up with the worst anxiety ((fear) excitement without breath) and my gut said to put my headphones on, turn this podcast on and trim the hedges in the rain. Trust your gut❤

I fell asleep listening to another video, and woke up 20 min in the middle of this podcast and it opened my eyes to the issues and vices I'm dealing with. Thanks Pete and Steven for the honest truth you spoke today. Now its time to sludge through the consequences of my own peach cobbler and just work, no matter how difficult it is, and pray that I find that light easy other side where the work becomes light and easier, where it feeds me energy instead of siphoning away all my energy. Thank you two from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you so much Peter! I’ve been having terrible writers block, cant even write songs, scripts, etc. This helped me out a lot!

We interview Steve every quarter and I'll be the first to admit that I am always super excited to see my favorite writer be interviewed by luminaries in the industry like Pete Holmes or Joe Rogan. Steven Pressfield has so much to offer the world and Pete did a great job here talking with him. Thank you, Pete, for having ol' "Uncle Steve" on your show; he is the Jedi Master of writing and creativity, and is one helluva great guy.

I'm new to Pete Holmes but heard him on neal brennan'S podcast. I can tell he's put a lot of thought into spirituality. Does he reference the bhagavad Gita alot?

Woah that’s a crazy coincidence. I just finished reading this book last night before going to sleep, and I wake up today and come across this video which was posted an hour before I commented this. Weird!

I've been dying to see a comedian interview Steven Pressfield! Can you interview Rick Rubin? He talks about how art should just be for the artist and not the public/ need validation. Spiritually, I believe that's true. However, comedy doesn't really exist without the laugh. It would be so satisfying to hear you two talk about it.

*NEW COUCHES!* How can Petey interview Steven Pressfield without being able to play footsie with him? Is this the death of YMIW? I demand a redo, and Pete and Steve needs to have their toes interlocked for at least 2 hours.

Pete’s a very intelligent and thoughtful person, and I think he sometimes assumes everyone is on his level, not realizing how much more insightful he can be to others. He says profound things as throwaways, and I don’t think this guest could keep up.

The voice of resistance is too clever and diabolical to come from the amygdala, but it's the amygdala that governs whether to let it through or not. When it's in fight/flight/freeze, the voice can sneak past in a fake moustache while the amygdala is distracted with all the other shit going on.
I know this because mine doesn't work very well, the person on the desk is dumb and left his glasses at home, unless I'm medicated. Then a team of highly trained security people are at the door and resistance finds it very hard to get past them.
Sometimes there's no stopping it. Think the front desk at Nakatomi Plaza on Christmas Eve.

Thank you so much Pete! I didn't realise you were so interested in spiritual matters. You might find Rose Rosetree's work helpful. Very much about being effective in the world, doing what needs to be done, while enjoying your human life.

@peteholmes I don't know if you actually read these, but I would love to hear you interview Ren Gill (@renmakesmusic). His song Hi Ren speaks to a lot of the same topics brought up in this conversation. And I fully believe the combination of his health struggles, his genius ability to make music that arguably defies genre, and his articulate and well thought-out views on life and art would make your interview with him incredibly interesting and compelling.
