“Benzin was commissioned by Paul. He always thought the word ‘gasoline’ was good and had annoyed Till for years: ‘Write a text about gasoline!’. Now Till fulfilled his wish and wrote the text for ‘Benzin’. The whole song is simply about gasoline.“ - Oliver Riedel

i´m pretty sure the story goes that till saw a movie about a person that was addicted to sniff on gas station and that inspired him for that song

This song was Paul's idea. He said no other song describes Rammstein better.

I interpret this song that a person consists of gasoline his lifelong, through his veins flows gasoline where his whole body drives. Lyrics: "Heart and kidneys are engines...."😂🤣😂
Check out the live version of Madison Square Garden from "Benzin". The reason Till is always hitting his knee is because he used to pop out his kneecaps all the time during the show and "straighten" them. The other band members found this movement so cool that he intregates this in the show, so the "world famous" Till hammer was created.🤣🤣🤣

And you think that just happened during the Benzin-Performace from MSG???!!

    • @rammirocker9445

@@Dnz-zg5km No, Till had already since the beginning of the career as a musician knee problems (He was in former times as well known professional swimmer for the GDR and he had to stop among other things also because of these problems as a professional swimmer.), and because in the again and again his kneecap, especially in earlier years, has jumped out, he has included this just in the "Performencen". And this movement became his "trademark" of the live-show, because it is just too "boring" for him (when he is not singing) on stage. 😅🤣😅🤣

That's how I felt about the song for some time. Through the many reactions that I have seen in the meantime, the song grows on me.

There's a suggestion that Benzin is a commentary about the Iraq war and how those who took the decision to invade had an ulterior motive-oil. It was the need for oil that drove the invasion and they had no need of anything else at the time. Till added his own slant and commentary though, as usual, adding some curious observations.

The meaning of the song is simple. Rammstein became famous thanks to the fireshow. And they use benzin for the fireshow. So, to write an ode to benzin is just a matter of time.
