great. thanks Tui. He was my first surf hero. Legend had it that when Jeff paddled for the channel at Sunset, the entire pack would furiously follow him because bombs were on the way.
the one question i wanted you to ask, does he have any POP UP ISSUES????? i am 72 and my pop up sucks i have tried every thing , nothing works this should be your lead question as it affects us all
I wanted to add to this comment Jeff made about being a little kid in the South Bay. My father used to to shape for Lymann surfboards. His name is Robert Trenschel. He recently told me he made 4 boards for Jeff right before he and his family went off and moved to Hawaii. Jeff can you confirm this?
Hi, I asked Jef your question. Here was his reply: To my recollection, I only took one board to hawaii, but I did have two boards from Lyman surfboards in total! I thought the owner Jim Lyman had made them both, but it is definitely possible someone else shaped them! I can say positively, I never had four boards!
Great Interview. Really appreciated the discussion of how to keep surfing into ones 60, 70s (and beyond).
Thanks for the feedback. Surfing into old age is a focus of mine.
What a fantastic interview. Love the way you just sit back and let Jeff talk.
Jeff lovers to talk so it was easy. :-)
Surfed with Jeff and Philippe at Sunset back in the early 70’s. Always kept an eye on Jeff where he sat ect
He told me a lot of people used to keep an eye on where he sat. And he quite liked to lead them astray every once and awhile. 🙂

He told me he sometimes tricked the pack to land them in it. :-)

You are right. I didn’t ask him that. But I think the fact that he splits his paddling between being prone and on his knees is an indicator.
