You learn that easily from your tuner on the 1st day before it even gets parts or jumps on the dyno. If you're concerned about how old it is personally, I wouldn't be. Technology catches up to you, but it also brings exciting new options to old platforms. When the 8s and 9's came out 2003-2006 the car was crazy ahead of its time when it comes to performance, but you have to keep in mind this was the early stages of tuning in the US the previous Evo's were never even in the US market. So a 600awhp Evo was killing cars like KB Cobras and M3s. Now there's cars coming out with 500-800hp right out of the gate. Luckily for older cars turbos and mods have become better so your older car will be able to keep up if not beat most cars. At one-point 1000hp Evos on the street were rare now you find them and some are sequential with over 1200hp just killing it. There's a lot that goes into something like that. The point is it's not a cheap hobby to have if you want one you want one for the right reason. And it doesn't have to be an Evo it can be and NSX, Supra, STI etc. I sold my Evo a long time ago it was super reliable, quick, easy to work on 'just ask a BMW owner how fun it is to work on a BMW' I made up my mind I will be buying another and keeping it in 2025 maybe before the Summer of next year and the second I get it I'm sending it off to get worked on. Idk if I fully agree with the outdated part and comfort part. I daylied my evo 9 for 10 years on coilovers and and 460+ hp on stock block. Beat the shit out if it for its whole life 100k miles worth and never had an engine issue i didn't cause. I do agree it's way over priced these days and I just spent 22k to fully build mine. Still love the car. It also has a super impressive awd system even compared to modern standards.
You can definitely daily it there’s a lot of people who wouldn’t want to though the point of the video was to display both the pros and cons of the platform. Evos we’re way ahead of their time and severely undervalued for what they can do I love them but for most they are just an overpriced Mitsubishi that has a better engine than a Subaru
drove a 6.5 TME and a type r GC sti on one of my japan trips, both monsters but i ended up swapping a coupe 2.5rs here in the states purely for the parts. DSM seem to be going the way of the dodo, where as subaru seems to stock basically all you need since you have a huge year range that is a direct fit. Sad to see these kinda fading from no real support from mitsu.
Yeah and the Mitsubishi scene in general is weird Subaru has always done a better job of having a well branded company, parts and community pushing the platform further

Bolt ons is definitely the most reliable for the car as far as daily driving goes but I think these cars can make 400-500whp very safely without giving anything up but for simplicity/ daily driving bolt ons is the way to go
With prices rising the way they have I'm glad I was able to get my 8 when I did in 2009, but I will never get rid of it, its become such a huge part of me I would feel empty without my CT9A and it never ends I prob have over 30k invested but I mean the options are endless.

I agree with you 2023 is a bad time to buy a new car prices are outrageous on everything if you have a Evo or eclipse gsx that you purchased years ago that's still in good condition it's best to keep it cause having a performance vehicle that's paid off in 2023 is an accomplishment!!!! Even the salesmen in the video at the desk said he doesn't advise buying a vehicle so you know we are in hard times if a salesman talks like that!!!!

Hey man. Just bought my first evo and I’m 24! So hyped to finally get one of my dream cars. Just replaced the monoloc and flushed all the fluids. Do you baby yours or do you yknow drive it like an evo is meant to be driven?
Love my old Evo but when I had to buy another X it was so hard finding one that wasn't clapped out with the previous owner hardly maintaining it
Yes agreed people don’t take care of the cars it’s sad they are always clapped and over priced for the condition
@@DissFooJosh hey excuse don't laugh or anything but being a Mitsubishi fan would you own a 2012 Mitsubishi eclipse GS sport even tho it doesn't have the performance specs of the Evo or is that a absolute no in your book?
@@cedricmiller4370 no laughs here if that is the car that makes you happy and you enjoy it then by all means go for it man life is short
@@DissFooJosh that does make sense after I could always get a engine out of a Evo and put it in the eclipse and have some serious muscle under the hood
So, I have a 370z I want to move to an Evo X as a Daily. I don’t need a ton of power just something fun that’s reliable and being able to enjoy my dream car for a year or two. I work remote so I wouldn’t drive it to to much. Let me know what you think.
Evo X are good cars just try to buy a stock one and not some abandoned project
Love my low mileage, stockish, Evo 9. Gonna hold onto it for a while.
Now whats your opinion on keeping the car stock or doing simple bolt ons and daily driving it?
Bolt ons is definitely the most reliable for the car as far as daily driving goes but I think these cars can make 400-500whp very safely without giving anything up but for simplicity/ daily driving bolt ons is the way to go
@DissFooJosh I've been looking into the 8/9 for a daily and just trying to do some good research beforehand. Good video here for sure man.
Glad it helped! That’s what it’s all about
With E85 you'll likely have trouble starting in colder climates. But if you're in Florida, Socal etc. you're good!
Imo they aren’t worth it there’s a lot of different modern platforms that make more power for cheaper
Was your black 9 from CO a SE model?
Yes it was
@@DissFooJosh dang, I wonder if was my old one. Did it have a steering column boost gauge and an AMS cat-back as the only mods when you got it?
no it did not have a steering column boost gauge and stock exhaust @@Just_Space_Dave
Appreciate you gang.
Anytime G
With prices rising the way they have I'm glad I was able to get my 8 when I did in 2009, but I will never get rid of it, its become such a huge part of me I would feel empty without my CT9A and it never ends I prob have over 30k invested but I mean the options are endless.
Plus not to mention this car has done nothing but amaze me since the 1st time I drove it. 14 years owned and loved and it never has stopped giving me thrills.
Btw the answer is yes. It's worth it.
To me it is too but to most it is not
I got a GR corolla in March after years of looking for a clean evo 8 or 9. Still would like an evo one day but the GR corolla has been making me happy
Corolla GR is a great platform that is ready to be enjoyed out of the box
@@DissFooJosh thanks man you’re spot on about that
My X MR was totally worth it
Thanks for your honest review
I’m on my 4th Eclipse I hate it, but addicted. @2G Mitsubishi Eclipse car scene.
Hahaha that’s the story of every Mitsubishi enthusiast trying to escape
Picked up my evo ix mr for 29k few months ago. 98k mile. Clean title lightly mod.
I loved it,been my dream car but as you said i am not willing to pay 35k and blow in my hands cause they old cars nowadays sooo will wait or not have it,i will deal with that ,prefer to save and invest in other things
35k is nothing compared to what it will be in the next few year’s…
Love the bonnet pal
What about evo x?
I keep hearing people say that parts for these are becoming hard to find can someone give me an example of what those hard to find parts are?
blocks gearboxes transfers heads
@@markc1456 what about things like water pumps headgaskets oil pumps
@@bajan246bim all still available
I’ve been thinking of buying next year!!!
I rather have old-school cars than anything new cars now these days.
New cars are not meant to last long only leased
Bs where can u get a sti ra motor for 2g
www.flatironstuning.com/10103ad020
There are multiple websites that sell them for $2100-$2500 including Subaru dealerships just have to try to look for them
My guy in the IE I recognize that 91 Freeway
It's always worth it.
The STI and Evo were worth it until factory cars like bmw, Kia, etc started producing boosted cars.
The day I finally get my Evo, it will definitely be an impulse buy 😂
Do yall think i will still be able to get an evo9 in 2030 if i had the money?
If you have the money I’m sure
@@DissFooJosh haha im only 15 so i pretty doubt that'll have enough money till then im just hoping evos will still be available and worth it
I want a white evo 9 but can’t see myself paying 35k plus 😂, I’ll keep waiting to decided between an sti or evo x.
35k is nothing compared to what it will be in the next few years
thanks bro you really helped me, so ima sell my hawk sti for an evo 😀😀
Lol Hawkeyes are good too though!
As much as I want another IX my adulting tells me to settle for a Gr Corolla
Seriously dude…I own a Supra and Civic HB and cops never bother me….I guess it because I don’t have a Evo parked at Cal Poly
They don’t really harass women that’s why..
@@LP-bt4jk so you don’t have any harassment issues then… it’s ma’am right..
@@kuya_art I am whatever you say I am if I wasn’t, then why would I say I am?

Thank you man I appreciate it
Answer:YES video done....
My evo was also a financial mistake.. I still love it though and maybe hate it aswell 😂
Bravo !
EVO hyped car
Mercedes C63 Benz for me
Pffft😢
There is no way Evos are worth the price they are going for. They are on the same overpriced level as 240sx. Don't get me wrong I love Evos but I'd rather take a clean DSM than an evo.
Love Starbucks coffee😋, skip the sandwich bro!
You know I said it in your last vlog..Nutten beat a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
Too much financial risk for most poeple. Not worth it.
I agree man it’s a high risk platform if you don’t have the resources/funds to make it work
This provided 0 knowledgeable insight. Many blanket statements that could be applied any any performance vehicle from any brand.
Yes but blanket statements that people don’t apply to JDM cars because the internet hypes them up too much and doesn’t talk about their reality
