Three beautiful young people singing a beautiful old song. The world has just been good for three minutes.
Cuz I had to know: Wellerman = reference to the New Zealand Weller Shipping Company owned by brothers Joe, Edward and George in the1800s.Their ships delivered supplies to other ships (like sugar, tea and rum). The delivery men came to be known as ‘Wellermen.’
‘Tonguing’= cutting whale blubber into strips so the fat could be rendered.

You have not got it quite right. The Weller Bros established shore whaling stations in New Zealand before New Zealand was settled by Europeans. The shore whalers chased the whales in longboats, and the Weller ship made regular calls to pick up the whale oil and deliver supplies.

I have long enjoyed music, including “folk” or “traditional” music. Yet somehow, this traditional tune had eluded me until I recently stumbled upon a lovely version of it by a solo female singer.
