  • In this video I'll show you how to reset your Windows password by booting to a live USB running Kali Linux, running chntpw against the SAM file and logging in without a password.
I also published an article about this problem on my blog here:

great explanation. But if it will not let me mount my /sda1 drive, what steps can I take? being that it is password protected.
    Thanks

Can you make a video on some useful commands and give some examples of each?

Does this work on windows 10? Bcoz I know, that MS made changes to how the registry works in windows 10 that apparently makes the SAM file more secure or something...

Tried this but it doesn't work on the system I was using it on. I did some digging around on the web and I think the reason is the boot drive is an NVMe SSD and the desktop is set to RAID instead of AHCI even though the second drive is a SATA and 1TB. I don't know why Dell turns on RAID unnecessarily like that. Changing it to AHCI without messing up the boot process requires doing it from within Windows which I couldn't do because I didn't have the admin password. Which is what I was trying to use Kali for in the first place; to unlock the admin password which I could not do because it could not see the NVMe SSD. This was going in circles.
It would really be nice if people who made these videos would list the conditions in which a computer needs to be in so these processes work so we're not wasting our time.

Too bad you don't give enough time after entering each command before you press enter ....I guess you think we have all done this before ... Slow down and make sure the exact command is visible and allow someone learning time to enter on their computer key board .....would be nice to have a screen at the end with all the commands listed out in ordered step by step .... This would then become one the best videos I have found to change the password ....remember most folks doing this are doing it for a first time ....

There are many factors in windows password resetting. One resource I found which successfully combines these is the Cunning code formula (check it out on google) without a doubt the best course that I have ever heard of. Check out this interesting site.
