I feel like that Pokemon Diamond bootleg of Telefang is something a lot of people growing up in the early 2000's came across. A friend of mine had it on a bootleg cart that had entirely legit games, except for that. And if I remember right my friend was genuinely convinced it was a legit obscure Pokemon game. Of course we were like 9 years old but still.
I had a multi cart with "diamond" on it as well, luckily I had older brothers who knew what telefang was so at least I knew it wasn't actually a pokemon game.

They weren't always the best translation, but at least you could play Aquanaut's Holiday somewhat in English.

The key does work, at least for this specific Smurfs bootleg. The door's hitbox is just on the right side, not the center. They probably just didn't know how to move said hitbox after changing the graphics.
Both of bad translated Pokemon gold had made based on the Japanese version, I guess. In the Japanese version, a number of characters of Pokemon's name had been limited to 5 (now is 6). So Pokemon's name is supposed to be weird to observe that limit. Cyndaquil(Hinoa) is ヒノアラシ(Hinoarashi), Totodile(Wani) is ワニノコ(Waninoko) and Chikorita(Chico) is チコリータ(Chicolita or Chikolita). In other words, the Japanese name was probably transcribed into English and the first five characters were used as the name except some. NUT GET!

About the game Serpent, the gameplay is a little weird (I like that game for some reason) : - You press LEFT to go 90° on the left and A to do 90° on the right. The B button launch some missiles if you grabbed those. - Unlike a regular Snake game, the idea is not to make the enemy eat his own body but to make him unable to move for a few seconds.

The Pokémon Mario Land bootleg is actually kind of cute! The Thunderstone replaces the Power Ball, there's some really clean sprites replacing all the enemies, it's good.

I knew for sure it was the one because outside of the bizarre corrupted Pokémon names the most vivid thing I remember is YOU FIND.......WOO I got it from a dodgy electronics store in Lanzarote (fun fact, they used acidic ink on their receipts that melted a few hours after buying something) as it hadn't come out in the UK yet. I remember the guy letting me test it to show it worked, but only up to the title screen. I discovered pretty soon why! I was too young to comprehend how there could be a fully functional, brand new Pokémon game that also had the most broken English and it legitimately ruined Johto era Pokémon and subsequently Pokémon as a whole from then on lmao I still have the cartridge but it doesn't seem to boot anymore

That's how I was introduced to Telefang too. The original game is actually pretty fun and has some awesome monster designs.

I got it from a dodgy electronics store in Lanzarote (fun fact, they used acidic ink on their receipts that melted a few hours after buying something) as it hadn't come out in the UK yet. I remember the guy letting me test it to show it worked, but only up to the title screen. I discovered pretty soon why!
I was too young to comprehend how there could be a fully functional, brand new Pokémon game that also had the most broken English and it legitimately ruined Johto era Pokémon and subsequently Pokémon as a whole from then on lmao
