daily reminder that the torrented copies of these games have similar issues, so one must ask what did EA even do to these games before release? Also was it good optics to release sims 2 considering all of sims 4 dlc is sims 2 dlc repackaged to cost $400
It's funny I just watched LGR's video of the re-releases and he talks about how someone made a breakdown of the changes in this release, and how they actually made some big changes under the hood like, changing The Sims 1 rendering engine to natively use Vulkan instead of the old DirectX but I guess it was still not tested enough, so people still had issues, including him.
I have tried The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 via Steam, and I was the first to see issues. For starters, with both The Sims and The Sims 2, before it was changed, they forgot to remove mentions of Denuvo Anti-Tamper and EA App, since those two games didn't have them when they were re-released onto Steam, and there had been lies spread on Reddit on how they did it on purpose when in reality it was a screw up, I even had to say that on a now deleted post on the Piracy subreddit mentioning how it was a screw up on their end. Second of all, UI for The Sims 1, it seems that the only thing they changed was the splash screen to properly scale to whatever resolution instead of it being small (it's the same thing for The Sims 2, both now showing the clean logos instead of whatever edition it is), but other than that, it's literally just The Sims 1 but using a Widescreen patch made by the community (pulling an Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection right there), they didn't fix the green background when in Create a Sim or scaled the UI to accomodate higher resolutions. And thirdly, The Sims 2 is actually missing content, the IKEA Stuff Pack is the only stuff pack that is absent due to licensing, meaning mods that require it won't work (yes, mods still work), so the only licensed Stuff pack that is there is the H&M Fashion Stuff pack. It feels like a downgrade compared to what the fans can do. I really wanted to enjoy these games on Steam, but I feel that it's a step backwards, similarly to Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection. In fact, I believe they're the only Sims re-releases that did NOT get a peoper announcement for people to hype over, like these weren't advertised at all on the EA App, while MySims Cozy Bundle is heavily advertised on the platform, even getting an upcoming Steam release. There were rumors and leaks, but that's about it, EA did NOT announce these games until the very day they were re-releasing, like "oh by the way, The Sims and The Sims 2 are being re-released for the 25th Anniversary."
The Sims 1 is lacking its body shop equivalent as well, meaning TS1 is lacking content too, not only TS2. There were some minor EA made-changes but they're mostly on TS1, not TS2, TS2 really is just the game with a widescreen patch. For example, I'm fairly certain TS1 didn't have WASD controls before, and head portraits are slightly tilted now on the relationship tab, they were also changed to zoom in/out to try and fit all the content of a Sim's head, and it looks clunky because sometimes the icon is either super zoomed in or out.
@@romulo2714 gonna check it know, but didn't quite understood what you've said. Have they removed some outfits from the game? Cause it seemed to me that they've brought all deluxe edition outfits. Or is it that you can't buy new clothes in Downtown now?
@sanra255 It's an external program that allowed you to make your own outfits that came with the original complete collection, it allowed you to make your own outfits from bits and pieces akin to the later game's CAS menus and then load it in the game. It just wasn't ported at all to the steam version and it's completely missing.

The weird military looking outfits at the start seem to be Command & Conquer ones, various GDI and NOD soldiers which look like they're based off the designs in C&C Renegade. I don't remember them as vanilla, but EA did own both The Sims and C&C at that point so I guess they could've been included in one of the later expansions?
Originally, the outfits were bonuses if you had C&C installed on the same PC. Presumably, either Joel owns and has C&C downloaded, or they included the bonus outfits by default in this version. At least, that's what I remember reading on the old Sims 1 video comments.
They were downloadable online (as well as a bunch of other official custom content) and thrown into the Complete Collection release, which seems to be what the legacy collection is based on.

If you wanted to fix the lack of scaling, you could run the game in a lower resolution and then use Lossless Scaling to scale it back up with sharp pixels. Sucks that it's not just an option in the game.

I actually didn't have many issues with both games. None crashed, none had any issues that people kept complaining about. The only issues I found were the menu scaling and the sims 2 having very low quality sims voices, but no crashes or anything.
I'll never forget my first time playing the Sims. The details aren't important, but I found myself playing on the grade 8's class computer unsupervised as a 6 year old (having your grandpa working as the custodian has many benefits). Oh and I forgot to mention that I did not start a new game, so if you're the person whose game I obliterated GET WRECKED NOOB

Love how he blames chat for giving him the wrong cheats he could easily google
all you had to do was scale the UI, EA! how lazy do you have to be!!!!!!!
I had a good damn feeling you were going to play this.
it's so funny joel completely forgot about the bs relationship system from hot date - AGAIN
the clowns voice sounds like gyutaro from demon slayer
also i've found that sims 1 is just a cacophony of noises and insanity and i love it
Got there too late to catch the livestream, but I was too impatient to wait for it to be uploaded here.
Kept waiting for someone in chat to point out that the sexbed gives you inadequate sleep, much like the cheaper fridges do with hunger, & that the lack of landscaping was brining down both his & Bella's moods, but I never saw it. YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH THE WIZARD JOEY!!!!
If you wanted to fix the lack of scaling, you could run the game in a lower resolution and then use Lossless Scaling to scale it back up with sharp pixels. Sucks that it's not just an option in the game.
If anyone else wants to watch someone trying to get sims 1 Bella years ago, Quest 4 Bella Goth is a really good 4-part series of charliewinsmore trying the same thing
A fellow winsmoron 🎉
Thank you Joel
If I had the skill I would mod this game so you can talk to the sims like in Suck Up and based on what you say and the conversation history it will respond and have a possibility to initiate an action, such as bütte secks
Joel + The Sims =

Sims
It's crazy that Sims1 is $20 on steam. The same price as Sims3.
21:51 HOT MAN EATING BEANS
When Joey streams with OBS it's unironically more crisp and clearer. Does he have some filter on xsplit?
Joey, please tell me you and Frank know about The Iron Sheik's appearance on Kenny VS Spenny from back in the day..
Wait a moment Sims 1 and 2 are on steam now
They didn't announce it beforehand, they literally just dropped 3 days ago.
Apparently they’re incredibly broken. Steam reviewers are saying to just pirate it.
Yeah but the command and conquer remasters were pretty good
@@baxterbunny4403
It's only because it was actually remastered, these are only just re-releases using stolen mods and patches made by the community.
That's pretty scummy
Cryptid house season 2 when
Gee, i sure love Fitgirl!!!
I tried to build a house but really just built a bunch of walls adjacent to each other. I bought and sold items while having no idea what I was doing. Finally, I absolutely destroyed the physical and mental health of the Sims. Oh and I forgot to mention that I did not start a new game, so if you're the person whose game I obliterated GET WRECKED NOOB
70 reais, same price in 90's
EA never fails to disappoint!
EA put way more money advertising these re-releases then the games itself. Idk if I should complain about it since I think we would've never gotten Sims 1 and 2 on Steam ever, but we can't moralize such laziness. Maybe I am just thinking too much about this
bubbieas
2:00:20 Oh my fucking god 😭😭😭
the first sims with the magic magic expansion is the first game i consciously played, it means so much for me, and here i am can't even buy the game because of stupid "this product is not available in your country"
