We are excited to invite you to an upcoming event that Madison is performing in at Harmony Cafe on Sun Jan 19 at 5pm with Talia Ortega from her college jazz group, The Cool Notes.
TALIA ORTEGA is a multi-instrumentalist (flute, saxophone, vocals), dancer, and perpetual student. She has performed at Carnegie Hall and alongside great jazz musicians such as Dave Douglas, Wayne Bergeron, Donny McCaslin, Randy Brecker, Ada Rovatti, and Grammy Award winner Louie Ortega. Born and raised in San Luis Obispo, her studies at Cuesta College, Cal Poly, and the Central Coast Jazz Institute have helped her become an active and versatile working professional in the local music and dance communities. During her Cal Poly career, Talia was a vocalist and featured improviser with the Cal Poly Arab Music Ensemble and Cal Poly Jazz Ensemble as well as first flute in the Cal Poly Symphony. Talia is a former winner of the SLO Jazz Federation’s Young Jazz Scholarship and a winner of the Cal Poly Symphony annual concerto competition. Talia realizes that both music and education are boundless and she is excited to continue to learn, grow, teach, and play!
MADISON LEA SCOTT is a blind jazz pianist, vocalist and composer whose earnest desire is to glorify God with her life and talents, seeking to be a blessing to others. She has studied for over a decade with the renowned Charlie Shoemake at the Central Coast Jazz Institute. Madison enjoys ‘mashing up’ different musical styles and composers to figure out new sounds. Her passion for music shows in her talent on the keyboard and in her voice. Her musical gifting runs deep. Madison serves on the worship team in her local church on the Central Coast of California with her family. Without the burden of eyesight, Madison focuses on how to experience God's creation through her other heightened senses.
Enjoy a beverage and tasty dinner prepared by Chef Giovanni, who hand selects the freshest local ingredients paired with those imported from his homeland in Italy.
