BRAIN TUMOR : ചികിത്സ രീതി

Any tumor growing inside the skull is known as brain tumor. There are two types of brain tumors : Benign (Non-Cancerous) and Malignant (Cancerous). 60% of brain tumors are benign tumors.
Total excision of the tumor is the main treatment to be done for a brain tumor. It can be done via key hole surgery or by opening the skull. A major type of surgery is awake craniotomy, which is done by not giving the patient any anaesthesia and instead talks to the patient. This helps the surgeon to identify any issues arising while performing the surgery - the mobility of the patient, slurring of speech, etc.
Further treatment is done after getting the tumor tested to identify what type of tumor it be. This helps the doctor to choose from radiation therapy or chemotherapy. With the advancement of technology, the radiation therapy is very precise and is directed only towards the tumor. Chemotherapy has also advanced without giving any kinds of side effects.

Hormone therapy
Immunotherapy
Gene therapy
Biological virus modification therapy
We are hopeful that many of the tumors which are impossible to treat now can be done in the future with the constant research done by our scientists.

Hi sir,
എനിക്ക് 24 വയസുണ്ട്.neurofibromatosis patient ആണ്. Multiple plexiform ഉണ്ട്. ഈ അടുത്ത് ഒരു ഡോക്ടർ പറഞ്ഞു 3years കൂടുമ്പോൾ തലയുടെ mri എടുത്ത് test ചയ്യാൻ(as a nf patient). അതിന്റെ ആവിശ്യം ഉണ്ടോ. എനിക്ക് 8 വയസുള്ളപ്പോൾ തലയുടെ mri എടുത്ത് ചെക്ക് ച്യ്തിരുന്നു. അത്‌ നോർമൽ ആയിരുന്നു. ഇനി തലയിൽ ഈ nf tumors വരാൻ സാധ്യത ഉണ്ടോ. ഇടക്ക് mri എടുക്കണോ??
