Ron is one of my all time favorite seminar instructors and that’s a short list. A definite must see if you ever have the opportunity to take in a seminar.
I have had a knife pulled in me one time down in Lafayette, Louisiana late at night by a black dude. He was fckn serious to and instantly I backed down and put my hands up and apologized for losing my temper. I thought it was just going to be a fist fight. He backed down and we ended up smoking a cig. That man would have probably killed me.
They are showing or demonstrating how the techniques works step by step. I bet they do focus on timing and putting more strength realistically when they practice free flow drills with partners
This is a very good drill, BUT to become proficient you must drill it over and over until it becomes muscle memory(little or no thinking). A seminar alone is not going to do it. This drill is a great compliment to other Cadena de Mano(Chain of hands) drills that teach a practitioner to FIRST gain control of the arm holding the weapon. A knife can be elusive in an attack and the angle can easily change direction, so it is helpful to be aware of that and be prepared. And, an attacker is not necessarily going to leave his weapon out there and allow it to be taken away. Once control is achieved through Cadena de Mano type drills, then a disarm using one, or more, of these methods is much more likely to be successful. I hope you know what I'm referring to and that this makes sense. That said, these are very good knife fighting disarming techniques to know and this is a great drill. Thanks for putting this video out there!!!
I am a Kali practitioner.. although disarming was practiced during my training days..but I personally do not agree with disarming. Realtalk brother instructor, Trying to disarm a knife is a SUICIDE. Never underestimate the force of the stubber! When and where and what angle and what will his next move be? No one knows, that is why it is risky to engaged in a close contact battling with knives. I will give you a hint.. Knives were designed to struck the opponent closely right? So to win, you must do the reverse of the game plan.see what I mean? Another sample..Mike Tyson was a peek a boo style fighter, will you engaged with him in a close fight.. suicide for you..you will be eaten alive bY tyson.so how will you win the fight? It is the same with knives..never play it according to the stabber's plan.
Throwing the knife away leaves you vulnerable to it being picked up and used against you either by the attacker or by group members. Always take the knife with the disarm.
The best way I would say for my opinion is to stun your opponent and then do your gripping around the hands of your oppoents that held the knife with that hand with your hands. You’ll have to find an execution either with putting pressure onto the hand, or end him with a strike on the neck. Pretty sure he’ll let go of that knife
Sir take good careiWatch other video he use outside of the arm you wrong because you use inside arm that the veins and arteries are their if u cut you got hemorage
I have never seen a back handed pass in a knife fight sorry. I don't like this being passed of as usable but of course I respect and train in Kali also.
