- Is it possible to beat a Hardcore Nuzlocke using only Pokemon species with names beginning with the letter H? Let's find out! I'm playing through the second half of Pokemon Soul Silver, so all the gyms from Kanto and the rematches of the Indigo League Elite Four!

The Hardcore Nuzlocke rules for this challenge:
1. Only catch the first Pokemon on each route, as long as the species name begins with "H" or evolves into one starting with "H". Re-roll on non-"H" and duplicates.
2. If a Pokemon faints, it must be released.
3. No over-leveling above the gym leader's highest level
4. No items in battle.
5. Play on Set Mode.
6. No evolving a Pokemon if no further evolutions begin with "H" (e.g., I can use Horsea, but can never evolve it into Seadra or Kingdra)

Hitmonvin was great during the Red fight
Hoppip the Homie for sure!
Heimlich was usefull in the red battle, holy field was usefull in the gym battles, hawkeye was usefull in the elite four but my boy hibiscus was the real mvp of this run

This was easily your best video yet.
Firstly, I thought it was super creative to treat the SoulSilver postgame as its own challenge. Then, we had the incredible contributions of Hoppip and Horsea. Deciding to take on both Red and the Elite Four rematches was also a great way to make the most of this game. Last, a small thing, I was really impressed with switching to counter with Heracross against Lance's Gyarados.

Yeah, it's really creative! Most gen 2/gen 4 runs just breeze through post-Johto Kanto, so I'm excited to see how things go down.
The MVP was obviously Vin. Not only did he gather together the familia, he sacrificed himself for them, truly earning an afterlife full of Coronas

I like the idea if playing through kanto on this game for this challenge.. makes for a much different experience than starting with low level battles

This is such a creative setting for a nuzlocke!!! I’ve never even seen the HGSS E4 rematches. I haven’t played that game since I was a kid. Super cool.

As much as I’d love for you to think I’m that dedicated, I mainly used Rare Candies to level up! I prioritize getting content out in a timely manner, rather than clicking A for 200 hours!

I recently did a buglocke of this game and did the EXACT SAME THING against the Snorlax. Including the same outcome

So what are we doing for the "I" nuzlocke? Ivysaur? Inteleon? Incineroar Infernape? And then a very small smattering of non-starter pokemon. SwSh? BDSP?

@@Rylockes I thInk Sword and Shield wIll be your best bet. In one playthrough IncludIng Isle of Armor, you can get Inteleon, Ivysaur, Igglybuff, Indeedee, ImpIdImp, and Inkay.
Idk but I know I'm doing a V letter on first gen 🤣
Pro: a lot of full evolved Pokémons and one of them is a starter
Con: most of V Pokémons are grass poison (really: venosaur, victrebell, vileplume)
Then you have voltorb and vulpix as base Pokémon and vaporeon
I feel I am missing one but right now I can't remember xD

Letterlocks are awesome, but ever thought about a sizelocke of some sort? Either a weightlocke or heightlocke could be interesting-- like only smol pokemon or something xD

This probably would’ve been easier in gen 5 since you would have access to two powerful dragon types in hydreigon and haxorus… eventually
Considering the level caps of the final fights of gen 5 games you can’t evolve Zweilous, so no Hydreigon probably

I think hariyama being able to use surf is a reference to dumplings and how you can steam them in water

Hariyama can learn Surf because he's based on Sumo Wrestlers, and it's referenced that Makuhita's from Alola are more popular than others, indicating a connection with Hawaiians.
Though Alola wasn't out yet when SoulSilver got released, Hariyama does look like he's wearing some sort of hula skirt.

I reckon the “I” nuzlocke will be done in Galar- you can get both Inteleon and Ivysaur if you do the DLC. Sinnoh would be cool too for Infernape.

Fun vid, but I stand by my position that Red's level cap should ignore his Pikachu. The rest of his strong pokemon are 4 levels lower or w/e, and they're all easily one-shotted when you have that advantage

IDK if I’d call Grass Pokémon “vital” for this part of the game. They beat Brock and Misty, and sometimes Surge. Then there’s Janine, Blaine, Red, Blue and Erika, all of which absolutely demolish grass types.
Didn't realise it was once you'd caught a pokemon and it fainted you couldn't get it again, would the rules have then allowed you to go with catching Houndour and keeping it at base evolution and only if it got knocked out catching a second and evolving it?

Like whimsicott is 4x weak to poison so that's eligible,golem is 4x weak to grass and water so that's also eligible
But pokemons with only 1 type aren't eligible and spiritomb has no 4x weakness so that's not eligible(hope you get it)
