The Bass gang also have a version of this that they did with Lauren, would recommend giving it a listen.
It's such a different take. Plus, IIRC they were released very close together.

I love their creepier version.
The set and characters were based on characters from Disney's Haunted Mansion. Cesar's intro speech and Lauren's outro "Hurry back" are quotes from the ride.
Geoff is the caretaker
Layne is the hatbox ghost
Cesar is Madam Leota
Eli is Alexander Nitrokoff (one of the portraits in the stretching room of the ride.)
Lauren is Constance Hatchaway (aka the Ghost Bride)
Oh, and another fun fact Elizabeth from The Charasmatic Voice did the ghost voices at the end.
Voiceplay doesn't copyright strike. They love reactors.
It isn't because of VP that he must worry - it is because he is doing this as streaming, so RUclips treats it differently.
Voiceplay allows reaction videos without worrying about copyright. You don't need to cover the video at all. In addition to the live performances others have mentioned, Voiceplay performed with the band Chicago last fall. There are a couple videos from the audience available.
He has to do it when live streaming though. Not because of Voiceplay but RUclips.

Lauren was big on Tik Tok with this one, all alone in the stairwell. Then she collaborated with Voiceplay. Layne flew to Tennessee to record her on green screen, then flew back just before a hurricane hit Orlando. After they released this one, the Bass Gang released it, also with Lauren. Geoff was asked in a chat how they felt about her doing the same song with them and the other crew. He looked at the camera, shrugged, and said "Capitalism"......
I still cannot recognize Layne in that makeup, it is so good. I watched behind the scenes where he is directing in that full face and STILL can't see him.
Interesting point that most reactors miss near the end... The baritone/bassy "Dadum Dadum" is from Eli, not Geoff. Plus, NOONE gives love to Layne's "Heartbeat" - one of the best around.
Many other groups perform Halloween songs - Voiceplay IS Halloween!

Yep, without Layne this would bot have the dynamic drive. I'm so glad to have someone so knowledgeable about beatboxing featuring his talents.
And Eli does character voices as a side job, so you're right about his vocal abilities.
If you've never reacted to BASS GANG, they also did a version of this song with Lauren that released around the same time. She actually coordinated between the two groups to help ensure their versions would be distinct from each other. And they're both amazing!
This is what we're talking about when we say Voiceplay are the kings of Halloween themed songs (any style or artist).

VoicePlay loves Halloween and come out every year with something that is awesome, Geoff generally does one on his own channel for Halloween also, Geoff also does readings of spooky stories. At the end with all the ghost flying around the voice for them was done by Elizabeth, of the Charismatic Voice did, she is an opera singer who also breaks the song down to tell you how they arranged the song. She also had an interview Layne that's very informative on how VoicePlay comes up with and then who does the arrangements.

They all worked at Universal and Disney World in Orlando for years. There are a bunch of videos of them performing live floating around, but they're just from phones. Cesar still performs in Orlando with another group. Love this video ❤
Consider a few of the songs done when they were in the Sing-Off tours (they did 2). Back in 2014 they did those tours. One of the best is Road Trip with both Earl and Tony, another is the full Chicken Song (from the Campfire Song for Scouts). When they were competing in the Sing-Off, Play That Funky Music White Boy was probably my favorite. But if you check out the competition and the tours you will have quite a few live videos to enjoy!
Lauren Paley (Pay'-lee) is from Nashville, goes by the Staircase Siren (does creepy songs in the apartment staircases to creep out the residents in the apartments. VoicePlay listened to some of her stuff on TikTok and contacted her, she said yes, Layne went up there to set up her audio and video before flying back to Orlando just in time for Hurricane Ian to run over Orlando. But they did get this up in October (right after In The Hall of the Mountain King - Sept).

Wait until we get to October! Voiceplay brings it especially on Halloween and Christmas! Just epic videos and songs! And usually a spooky reading by Geoff, too! Last year was The Headless Horseman! On his channel he has quite a few narrations, his Poe is especially chilling. 💙
This is so brilliant! I have watched this video a million times. Lauren Paley has such a beautiful, haunting voice. So much so that she also guested with The Bass Gang for the same song! I highly recommend that as well. This one is a bit more "fun". Bass Gang's take is more dark and creepy...and Lauren is absolutely terrifying. Both versions are A M A Z I N G!
Lauren Paley went viral with this on her own -then everyone lined up to collab with her. As I recall, Layne took the project and literally flew out to film/record her and managed to get back just ahead of a hurricane or massive storm. Epic effort and so much fun! (Eli does do commercial voice work)
He flew to Nashville to record Lauren then returned just ahead of the hurricane. Editing was postponed a bit as his house was flooded in the storm. Such dedication!
Lauren also did this with the Bass gang and both are done amazingly well
I love that Layne is able to be fully recognized and appreciated because of your focus. I have zero beatbox skills but find the info so fascinating!

OK, FYI - Voiceplay reactors do NOT get copyright strikes or blocked by them - they welcome reactors! So for future reference you do NOT need to cover the video!! Voiceplay did tour, but that was before Covid, when that shut down touring, they concentrated on these videos instead - apart from performing live with 'Chicago and friends' last year, they are unlikely to tour again - they (apart from Cesar!) are getting older, Eli has a recent new baby, Geoff has young son, Layne has daughters - so they prefer to be with their families more (and of course J.None has a couple more years to serve with the US Navy singers!)..😊

Chicken Song refers to maybe Voiceplays funniest skit they did live, that and Roadtrip. Both those are just fun on stage, not in the form of a music video.

And it’s not even Geoff’s arrangement/video doing it as payback to all Laynes body/face paint he’s put Geoff through as it’s Laynes video haha.
That's why I originally thought Geoff was the blue one. Because he usually is!
They did two versions of grim grinning ghosts from Disneyland haunted mansion: one in costume but one they did live while they were backstage at a show sometime ago. Geoff has short hair in it so I know it was a long time ago! It was recorded but it was recorded live. Also their ACA top tens are done live With no post production and they are a lot of fun. One of my favorites is Disney’s top 10 sidekicks.

Hi klown, If you want to see how Voiceplaay perform on stage may I suggest their " Road Trip " video it was recorded back when Earl and Tony where still in the group and was recorded live on stage when they were part of the american "Sing Off " stage show, there is not much beat boxing in it but it is still extremely well done and very funny. Keep the great reactions coming and also another band you may appreciate is " The Bass Gang " - A group of four Bass singers from around the world that are rapidly making a name for themselves they are not a pure acapella group but one of the singers Marwan Ayman does do some slight beatboxing in some of there songs. Great reaction as always.
Great reaction! Chicken Song is an early live with original member Tony - its great! And - there is a live Oogie Boogie that you can watch as well. And - there is an ACA Top 10 Disney Villains Live - all are great! You don't have the production or sound quality - but you can see them live.

There are a few video clips on YT of VoicePlay on stage. There is a live version of We Don't talk about Bruno, and The Chicken Song come to mind.

You should listen to the Bass Gang's cover of the same song - with the same Lauren Paley as their special guest... released within a week of each other. She got requests to work with both groups at the same time.
VoicePlay is totally independent so no need to cover their videos. None of the other reactors do. Lauren Is known as the stairwell siren. This is the PattyCake Productions set of Disney's Haunted Mansion.

When are you going live again?
What was that about copyright? Do the rules change in a live stream? Usually there's no problem with Voiceplay and copyright. Sorry, I'm undereducated in such matters. Or maybe I just can't keep up with the rules. 💙
I believe it has to do with the live stream. Every time I watch somebody who’s putting out something that was live streamed there’s either a break or something obscuring their video. I was watching a live stream of someone else who does non-music videos but she was playing music in the background and she got a copyright strike. So she hast to play public domain music while she’s talking during her live stream.
@@janetdw Thanks. That's kinda crazy though. But copyright "rules" have always bugged me a bit, especially when it's something everyone has easy access to anyway.
As stated, you need to listen to the Bass Gang version as well. They really enhance the skill of each other. Lauren festures in that as well.
