    Julie you’re so right. Meal planning saves sooo much money. It helped our family save money & now we’re debt free! We spend $180 a week & we’re a family of 5 and that includes a lot of organic items.

    We are a family of 5 in Ohio. We spend about 500-600 a month for groceries, so 100-120 per person per month. Though my goal is 400-500 per month. I get most of our groceries at Aldi and then go to Walmart for items that Aldi doesn’t carry. We buy gluten free bread/snacks for my daughter so I’m sure that elevates our bill some. I shop every two weeks and then go to our local grocery store here in town for milk/eggs in between when we need to fill in. Our Walmart doesn’t have price matching.
    I try really hard to meal plan and only get those items I need for those meals, or work around whatever Aldi has on sale, but I know I could do better.
    You do an awesome job planning and getting the best deals for your family!

      Thanks Kyleigh! It is really tricky to stick to a budget, especially when food prices seem to be constantly on the rise!

    I really need to start meal planning, I know it would make things much easier! I have never been one to price match... too time consuming! My whole life seems to be a rush, and I just simply don’t have time to price match🤷🏼‍♀️more power to those that do!👍🏻Great video!👌🏻

    We are a family of 2, we average $450 per month. Before my son moved out we spent about $525 per month. We were able to save by getting more items in bulk when my son lived at home. Now with just 2 of us we always buy the smallest sizes so we can use things up before they spoil. We are in Ontario.

    Love this! We’re a family of 5 including a baby in the US and spend around $125 a week. Love meal planning otherwise i spend all morning thinking about “what am I making for dinner?” I kind of love this aspect of homemaking though. Just me?

    We spend way more than $100/person haha. Our is $600 for the month and we have a family of 3. But, that includes household items too and we eat out 3-4 times a month. All other meals are from home, my husband packs his lunch and snacks every day to take to work with him. I know I have room for improvement it's a hard balance, eating semi healthy, staying in a budget, and finding the best places to shop. Sounds like you do a great job at it!

    I added up my Grocery(all consumables) and it was $1000. I watched Jordan page envelope video last night and realized I need to cut that $300!! I had to buy some medicine and extra vitamins in January, so it was higher. We have 5 kids.

    Our family of 5 (kids ages 6-9) spends about 600-700 a month for groceries. That’s not including pet food usually but it includes everything else that’s household. We live in BC.

    We have three boys, live in Alberta, and spend about $1000 a month. But now that one of my boys has been diagnosed with celiac, I can see that it is going to go up a bit. It will be interesting to see just how much it changes!

    • @mamatofive1
      @mamatofive1  4 года назад

      I assume grocery prices are not cheap in Alberta! It seems they’re much more consistently pricy here than they are in the US.

    • @jennifermittler6024
      @jennifermittler6024 4 года назад

      I’m not sure how they compare to Ontario, but I know a lot of items are cheaper than N.B.’s grocery prices.
      Loved all your meal planning tips. I do mine about the same way, except for the price matching and using Flip. I think I need to take a look at it!

    Thank you for sharing, this was inspiring. I don’t like cooking, but maybe if I meal planned better I would? It also doesn’t help that my husband gets home at 8pm, so he doesn’t have dinner with us and it’s easy to be lazy with dinners. I’m afraid that’s creating picky eaters in my kids though. :/
    We spend $150/wk unless we need diapers or laundry detergent, etc.

      Aww I know what you mean...when my husband gets home too late for dinner, I tend to just make sandwiches for the kids and I!

    2 adults and three kiddos I’m preggo so maybe I count as 1.5 adults lol. But for food, household good plus diapers etc we avg about 175 a week. Meal planning is definitely a money saver. I need to look into the price matching. I use the Walmart pick up though

    I just did the math and for our family of 6 it comes to $167 per month per person, BUT I have never been able to separate groceries from baby diapers, wipes, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaners, pet food and other non food items, shampoo, deodorant. We live in a pretty low cost of living area. I'm not great with my budget, but it is not outrageous either. My family of 6 used to go grocery shopping all together and recently I go alone with just one kid and it is unreal how much I save just leaving everyone at home. I do meal plan, think you have to when your family starts getting big.
    We always do a breakfast for dinner each week too. I love soup, but my family does not. She annoying.

    • @mamatofive1
      @mamatofive1  4 года назад

      I agree, you have to meal plan when you have a large family! I do divide the household needs from groceries, but maybe it would be easier to keep it in group!

    So you price match online?? I didn’t know you could do that!!

  • @kristyjo5745

    Pregnant with #4 and we spend about $800 on groceries/cleaning/toiletries.... A month. I have friends that swear they only spend $400 and I have NOooooOOOO idea how they do it 😂💗, wish I knew the key to more savings. Seems like it's hard to spend less than that.
    The local schools do free breakfast and lunch to every student. So I guess that would make a big difference if we didn't homeschool.

    • @mamatofive1
      @mamatofive1  4 года назад +1

      Free breakfast and lunch? Wow!! Yeah I hear some people’s prices and I’m clueless how they can do it?? Make the cheapest unhealthy food? 🤔

    • @kristyjo5745
      @kristyjo5745 4 года назад

      Yeah free breakfast, lunch, and snacks for the younger kiddos. But free all the way till seniors. It is based off of a grant that our community receives. Pretty crazy! But homeschooling is definitely worth more than free food. 😜💗
      Even unhealthy food still seems like it would cost more? We even cloth diaper so not sure how they don't have a huge cost with that stuff as well? Maybe I like WAY too many ingredients in every meal. 😂💗

    • @mamatofive1
      @mamatofive1  4 года назад +3

      A couple things...I never serve a second option. If they don’t like what’s in front of them, they don’t get anything else! Also, we reeeeally limit snacks. They have a small afternoon snack, but that’s it. They need to be hungry when it comes to meal time and I’m serving a healthy meal 😊

    • @herhomemakingheart
      @herhomemakingheart 4 года назад

      That is good advice, thank you. I am trying to limit snacks too as I feel they try to fill up on those. My 3 year old is especially picky.

    How do you price match online?

  • @supermommyfour8970
    @supermommyfour8970 4 года назад +1

    You are able to price match in the grocery app? How does that work?!

    • @mamatofive1
      @mamatofive1  4 года назад

      Maybe I didn’t explain that very well! I find the deals on the app that I want to price match. Then when I’m in the store, I show them the price in the app on my phone that’s at the other store, and they’ll match that price. 😊

    • @amclaudet
      @amclaudet 4 года назад

      So when you order your groceries you have to go inside the store?

    • @mamatofive1
      @mamatofive1  4 года назад

      amclaudet no...I was explaining how I do it if I shop in store. If I shop online, I have to send an email in explaining what I’m price matching. Then I park in the specified spot and they bring the groceries out to me 😊

    • @shanabirky4354
