      Lockdowns destroyed the UK economy and the NHS. Many people with cancer are still dying because they couldn't get NHS services during the lockdowns. The care and nursing staff inadvertently brought Covid into every Care Home and Hospital. It wasn't until the invention of anti-virals and vaccines that we got on top of Covid. But the enquiry is just asking why lockdowns weren't sooner.

It beats me why anyone should want to pay this walking disaster so much as holes in washers. We know he even tried to get out doing the PM job altogether during the height of the pandemic in order to finish his Shakespeare book, which he'd had an advance against in order to pay for his divorce and was overdue. He's always overdue.
Zero leadership, no ability to make a decision, no morality, no organisation, no application or effort, no real contrition, no truth or transparency and no willingness to put people's lives at the fore compared to his own endless wranglings to maximise power and minimise rivalry.

    Unbearable to watch. He's vain, shallow, dim, dishonest, conniving, needy...charisma?:
The Greek word charisma means "favor" or "gift." It comes from the verb charizesthai ("to favor"), which in turn comes from the noun charis, meaning "grace." In English, charisma was originally used in Christian contexts to refer to a gift or power bestowed upon an individual by the Holy Spirit for the good of the Church-a sense that is now very rare. These days, we use the word to refer to social, rather than divine, grace. For instance, a leader with charisma may easily gain popular support, and a job applicant with charisma may shine in an interview.

    "let it rip" is a simplified version of the Great Barrington Declaration, which originated with Sunetra Gupta from the university of Oxford, and American colleagues, sponsored by a right-wing American think-tank. It caused countless unnecessary deaths in the USA

    • @martinhughes2637
      @martinhughes2637 Год назад

      “Let it rip” is a media-produced trope intended to purposefully mischaracterize the simple recognition of the fact that respiratory viruses are going to spread throughout society regardless of efforts to prevent it, and that those efforts in fact will prove counterproductive overall, as we are seeing now with the increase in severe health impacts from viruses that should have mild impact (due to people not having a chance to build up resistance). The GBD is simply a statement of the long-standing position built on all of human experience in how to manage pandemics effectively, with an understanding of the principles of immunology and a focus on improving immune health individually and as a society. “Let it rip” is purposefully hyperbolic, intended to increase fear and hysteria in people to increase media power and achieve specific political aims such as further limiting individual freedom and concentrating power in the hands of the political elites.

      Go and read the "Great Barrington declaration." It recommended that the lockdown should be limited to the elderly and at risk, that old people in nursing homes should be looked after (before the vaccine came out) mainly by those who had recovered from covid, and that staff and visitors should tested regularly. The rest of us should go about our normal lives TO ALLOW THE VIRUS TO SPREAD AND LEAVE IMMUNE SURVIVORS TO CREATE HERD IMMUNITY. They also advocated handwashing, which seems self-defeating if they wanted the virus to spread quickly.
