Trump is a leader. When others cower, worried about their reputations, their fortune... Trump takes action. Like Theodore Roosevelt, like Ronald Reagan. And for this character, he is respected and admired. Journos forget to put themselves into the perspective of ordinary people. Working class people who claw through existence. Trump recognizes them and makes their lives more noble, more appreciated. Giving honor to the French fry maker at McDonalds, etc. Trump "gets" people. No matter their social class or "connections". He applauds merit, innovation, hard work.

If I recall the Panama canal return treaty actually says the US has the right to intervene militarily if it feels a hostile power may seize control or something roughly to that effect, as pointed out China effectively controls it. Chinese companies control the ports at either end and Chinese security contracting companies "protect" the canal now that Panama no longer has a army and we all know these Chinese companies answer to the CCP and PLA.

  • @J.MULIRO

According to recent reports from The Guardian, Carbon Brief, and Yale e360, China alone is responsible for 95% of the new coal fired power plants and has no plans to stop. They're currently building 300 more as of this writing. That's just China. The problem with the Paris Accords is that there is no enforcement mechanism. Everyone is on the honor system, and in this current geopolitical climate, the honor system is grossly inadequate, so why bother.

Taking back the Panama Canal is not ridiculous. It was a bad idea to give it to Panama in the first place in 1999. Panamanians did not build the Panama Canal, the U.S. did. However, the transfer had special terms and requirements that Panama has not met. They are not properly maintaining the canal, they are not being fair with fees regarding the Canal, and other issues. For national and regional security issues, there are a number of good arguments for the US taking back control of the canal.

A lot of people have failed to realize that pre-emptive pardons are invalid. Per the 1866-1867 Supreme Court ruling ex parte Garland, the Presidental pardon power may be exercised only after the commission of a crime (as a general rule proof of this requires a conviction in court). The other Constitutional limitation on Presidential pardon power is that pardons are only applicable to federal criminal convictions, so pardons cannot excuse state-level convictions nor are they applicable to civil cases at either the federal or state level.

Commentator saying inflation going up wrong. Energy price (manufacturing cost) goes down if drilling & producing own energy & exporting it to Europe. Less immigration raises US citizens wages & employment more disposal income to spend, tariffs ensure more US based factories & jobs to avoid tariffs from overseas companies - also environmentally more friendly as onshore better laws to mitigate pollution. Less importing into US means prices go down. More housing available for US citizens also.
He also said he will put the highest tariffs on BRICS countries as they are trying to weaken or replace the dollar as reserve currency.

The massive revenue generated from the tariffs on the sales of our oil and gas will go towards the newly created ERS - External Revenue Service. The ERS will replace our Internal Revenue Service ... the IRS. This is in line with Trump's proposal to eliminate our income tax - paid annually by every American citizen.

For the guy in the dark long-sleeved shirt, Energy is involved in everything from harvesting the grain that feeds the chickens to produce the eggs to the fuel needed to transport those eggs to the grocery stores. All of these things are produced in-country when it comes to the US. There is no need to import fuel, timber, steel, etc. In producing their own energy, the prices of US goods will naturally be reduced for US consumers because the cost of production will be reduced (lower fuel costs if nothing else). If COVID taught their citizens anything, it was the need to bring manufacturing back to the States so they could produce their own pharmaceuticals, PPE, and medical equipment.

There is a lot of corruption creeping into our Anglo-Saxon countries which is a pity because we are culturally honest as a public. Trump will now throw out some things which the left did (rigged 2020 election and so on) which will make the conspiracy theories going around seem trivial: reason why Biden pardoned so many in the last minute including Fauci since 2015. Man what will come out is anybody's guess.
