The audience member with the mullet stole the interview especially with the shade about the interviewer (21:51); Mary was ready to put him in the naughty corner. She will definitely be missed!

It's definitely a great interview. It was better than some of the other interviews Mary gave where she destroyed the character of Diana Ross. I understand Mary's position. However, Ross had to experience as much sadness, loneliness, and fear as Mary because, as a solo artist, Ross had no safety net to catch her if she failed. I wish Mary and Ross had communicated before she died. I understand favoritism. It was done in my family with my oldest brother. However, we were able to sit down and discuss it, and my brother said to me that if you were given the same opportunities he was given, would I have accepted. My answer was yes. I think if Mary was given the same opportunities as Ross, her answer would also be yes.

I never saw this before. Tony, you have the wrong year in the title. Mary didn't release Dreamgirl until 1986.

Florence didn't die because of Berry Gordy. Florence died because of the choices she made and a traumatic experience that no person should endure. Florence never overcame the trauma of rape. Florence medicated the trauma with drinking. I don't think any of the girls understood the business aspect of entertainment. Florence took Berry, replacing her as a lead singer as a form of rejection and abuse. There were no mental health facilities to assist Ballard's trauma, so the trauma caused Florence to self-destruct. Experiencing that type of trauma would have taken its toll even if Florence was the lead. The pressure, success, and expectations would have always led Florence back to unresolved trauma. It is unfortunate that it happened to Florence, but it is disappointing to hold Motown and Diana Ross responsible for a tragedy that was beyond their control.

Gordy didn't kill her but he did not help her. Well taking away her solo spot in the live shows and renaming the group essentially did kill her. So yeah. He kind of did. Had Gordy handled the situation better, Florence could have gone on to have a decent career. Instead it was Ross, Ross, and more Ross. All of the Motown talent suffered because of it. Yes. Florence made bad choices. She was a kid. No college degree. And was growing up on the road. Gordy could have and should have done more to help her.
