I followed what you said about cleaning out the housing with a wet rag after vacuuming, but I'm a little worried I didn't dry it thoroughly enough before putting in the new filter. What can happen in that scenario? I might be paranoid but I felt like the engine might've been running a little rough afterwards.
Therefore I am no mechanic.lol But I think it's all in your head to be paranoid. I am like that sometimes with certain things. That shouldn't cause any harm to the car. You have a new air filter in there you should be fine.. Aso if your car is running rough. Was it running rough before? Check and see the motor oil level. Maybe you need to add oil to it. Next thing what kind of fuel are you putting in a car are you running on a 87 try to get some fuel injection cleaner in the meantime to dump it in the gas tank 3/4 to a full tank. Try 91-93 gas. Good luck 👍
No you didn't not do anything wrong. It's your right to change your air filter if you want. Because when you go to the dealership they going to check the air filter anyway if they doing a maintenance check fluid in all that stuff they going to see that the air filter was changed so it shouldn't be a problem you just save yourself some money. :)
I wonder if you can clean them by spraying them with water or something like the garden hose, then let them dry completely before reinstalling them back into the car (I know, I know, your thinking "Just go buy new ones you cheap ass Bastard".)to extend the life of the current filters??? Anybody care to confirm or oppose in doing so???
Thanks, you just helped me save $30 and now I feel like a man!
