Getting haunted forest lore from the convenience store cashier and then finding out the forest is right outside the store is real JRPG hours
Honestly though!!
it's giving chilla's art games lmao
@@CherryMiyaaa Exact thought, bro 💀
Why is aki so obese? Poor Joey
@@ezaf5989 whats wrong with you? get help
I could see that, when this was a full forest, how the twisting bamboo against the sky could disorient someone's vision for SURE.
Probably why they got lost to begin with
@@AKHV9708 you would have nowhere to look but up to the heavens
Me too
especially when the wind blows, that is so scary
@@rinrawrchu indeed i may need to rewatch with headphones
it makes me sad to think that this was once a big beautiful forest where people could even get lost in. but now its only as big as a garden....man....
200th like!
😢😢😢😢😢😢....looks so beautiful! The bamboo sway clip....❤❤❤❤❤!
Never thought of convenience stores being mondern day taverns, but honestly it makes sense xD
Same, but it's a cool analogy!
Also, was happy and surprised to see the outdo, especially since this is on a "horror" story!
i thought bars were modern day taverns lol
I work in a small, family owned supermarket and it is the local tavern, basically. Any news going on in the area passes through our store. If you want to meet someone you haven't seen in a while, come to our store. I worked in a convenience store before that and it wasn't anything like that, so it took some getting used to.
@@Selendryle honestly a both work , they both kinda serve similar purposes a tarven would have done but in different areas and ways so it makes sense they are the modern day equivalent

Thank you for for NOT putting in any jump scares in this video
Thank you for this comment!! I was hiding in the comments section just in case 😭😭
Would have made for a more interesting video
I know that the bamboo forest in Kyoto that tourist carved names and other things into the bamboo. Employees found them. It damages the bamboo trees and they had to cut them down and put up fences so you can't reach them now. How sad😢
These vlogs are so interesting to me because it feels like I'm just exploring along with you guys. Every time you find a new hidden secret it feels almost like it was calling out for you to find it. The vibes are unmatched
I grew up in a bamboo forest which belongs to my family and at this point, the sound of wind hitting bamboo is so nostalgic to me. Whenever I go to any forest, and there is bamboo and there is wind, I just stop. I just sit down and take it all in, because I dont know when is the next time I can feel that. Sometimes, even my study background music is wind hitting bamboo. I wish I could go to this place right now.
Convenience stores being modern taverns isn’t something I'd have ever thought of myself, but makes way too much sense now that I've heard it 😂
I really don't like going to haunted places. I do like knowing and researching about them, but never having the nuts to throw myself into the shadows of the real hell.
I already have very bad luck in my life. I would not want to risk making it worse by going to haunted places haha
Same
The bamboo forest is gorgeous, sounds wonderfully zen. It looks so majestic, like a sea of seaweed but instead of seaweed it's bamboo flowing backwards then forwards in it's own rhythm. Messing with my vision which is scarily neat and cool ❤
Fantasmas = ghosts 👻
Clearly the maintenance guy's gotta have some sort of "curse-free" card or something. Or the spirits think they're chill and see the cleaning as a fair offering.
Never considered a convenience store as a modern-day tavern. That makes too much sense.
Or there's no spirits at all 🫡
In Greek Φαντάσματα.
It's more of keeping the area safe from vandalism and preserving the nature and history of this shrine. It looks so beautiful nonetheless.
Fantasmas means ghost if im correct?
yup, fantasmas means ghost
Fantasmas = Phantoms = Ghost or Spirits ... Hopefully they're not Demons 😈👿
as a portuguese speaker I find it funny, because fantasmas means ghosts(plural) in portuguese.
Fantasma is ghost and with 'S' is plural :D
We have a few bamboo trees behind our house and when it's windy, it almost sounds like there is water nearby when you close your eyes. Very relaxing to hear, kinda stressful to look at because of how they bend 😅
I have a VERY bad feeling about this
Logan Paul moment
I'm American, Logan Paul dishonored us when he visited Japan.
Don't worry it ain't gonna be another Logan Paul cause you know why, she has respect unlike Tanna mongue and Logan Paul, they both recorded a dead body, idk why Tanna didn't get hate for it tho cause I literally watch the video to
@@justabowloflettuce LMAO
@@justabowloflettuce Fuck COPPA and demonetizations!
Aki is so cute when she said there isn’t enough bamboo in Las Vegas 😂❤ we are lucky to have some palm trees but even that’s stretching it, it is all desert with a city planted here!
But what a cool and educating video about this forest!
Also live here & agree 1000% lol
That bamboo is striking. It’s so cool to be able to visit places like this. Very beautiful, thanks Aki!
Not watching this as 3:00 in the morning..
Edit: it's not bad as I thought it would be. It's pretty calm and relaxing
dude, why is the story scarier and kinda soothing in japanese??? like you can tell it is a ghost story with how they talk, but at the same time they are so calm and cool about it that you feel soothed and secure.
It's like those casual spooky stories you hear in a video game, or any series actually
Why did the idea of turning the konbini's into a tavern pop up into my head when she said that? 😂
RPG mode XD
The bamboo forest looks so cool and beautiful!
Swaying bamboo trees look so cool 🤩
I think it’s a beautiful small bamboo forest that I can picture myself painting such a beautiful scenery there, there’s just something that speaks to me spiritually within me about that forest 🥰🥰🥰
We have a lot of bamboo trees in my school here in the Philippines, and I can tell you, the sounds of the bamboos hitting each other is breathtaking.
Its really so cool. Great meditation area with the sound of the bamboo.
It reminds me of a park in my area that is closed off and also has that white fence. These terrify me 😅
The Bamboo is so cool when it sways in the breeze. I saw another widow about the forest being some kind of portal.
Ok aki is on her ghost hunting arc and IM SO HERE FOR IT!
I don’t know if other Latin languages is the same but Fantasmas is basically Ghost (plural) in Portuguese.
Yeah. It's the classic visible ghost
Ghost or spirit Yea (mexico Spanish)
It also means ghosts in Spanish 😊
Aww Aki looks so cute with her bun hair and overalls!😊💙 This forbidden forest got all hyped up, and it’s just a small, beautiful forest, that they don’t want people ruining, I agree.
I've always wondered how much you'd have to rely on Japanese, since I know there's teachers that go over to japan and other countries to teach english, I did read years ago it's like the top known language. I had tried to learn it a while ago but don't think i would ever travel anywhere.
And Bamboo is technically considered a grass and not a tree because the roots only reach about 14 inches instead of the tens of feet that tree root systems do. The inside of the stem is also hollow, called a culm. It fits into the grass family Poaceae. They're perennials too.
Oh boy Aki is at it again! My fears could never.
Hi Aki, I love your videos a lot. Keep on doing a great job
I love how Jose has become a recurrent character at this point
he’s a regular lmao
He got added to the anime opening
Japan is truly a mystical world
From anime like landscapes to horrifying urban legends
Fantasmas means ghosts in portuguese, don't know if there are other languages who share it too but it was a very curious thing to learn that japonese shares it with portuguese!
Fantasma also means ghost in spanish
During freshman of high school year I thought/ pretended that there was hallway that had a one way portal in my school and for the whole year I avoided that place, only going there once for some reason.
That is a very small forest so I can't imagine ever getting lost in it unlike Aokigahara or any other dense and dark forests, for fantasmas, kinda like phantasm/phantom is a ghost!
It mightve been bigger in the past, I think aki said it was a actual forest and they cut it and made it like this to keep as memory something I guess
Yeah it probably took up the whole area but urbanization, and people getting lost and actually dying, proabbly made them cut it down. The shrine was most likely kept as a means to perserve history and attract tourists. And the "spooky keep out or be cursed" warning is probably a means to keep people out and stop them from stealing and/or damaging the bamboo
this was an interesting watch glad aki showed it to us
Of course out of everything that calms me down is watching spooky Aki videos. Honestly for a second I thought “Is this *the* forest?”. It isn’t. Honestly one thing comes to mind when thinking of the forest
I was in Kyoto a few weeks ago, In the bamboo forest in arashiyama. It's such a cool sound to hear bamboo rattling in the wind! hehe they look so fragile, but they're so stong! Thank you for sharing this cool video!
I also love love loooove those double hair buns❤
I love bamboo. We got a lot here and when you go to the river with tons of bamboo singing alongside the water current, it's very relaxing. I love my little island 🏝.
Best intro animation ever!! lol
So happy to catch the video of you entering this "haunted" forest. Love this little forest and thr bamboo (and sound). Fantasma = Ghost. 👻 Hope you did find your way home. 💚 lol.
Hey Aki, just wanted to say that I absolutely love your videos and think you have such a great personality. I'm so happy I found your channel and subscribed right away! I'm really interested in Asian countries and their histories, so your content is perfect for me. Keep up the great work!
I always wondered if this was a inspiration to the lost woods in Zelda. And Pokemon Gold/Silvers forest.
She says she should pay respects but she didn't pay respects to the spooky shrine thing after going to a toilet in the middle of nowhere
I think back in olden times this forest would have been very scary and easy to get lost in. But they have destroyed most of it to make way for urban development. That tiny patch is all that is left of it. Maybe it is forbidden to protect it.
thank you aki for todays video, i missed them :) and i like these advanture videos around japan :D

v cool video and such an interesting way to explore parts of Japan's history! also ur outfit is SO DANG CUTE, double congrats on good video and good outfit.
Welp aki if you see koroks or Kojimas from princess mononoke good luck and try to make it out to do more contents.
Cool place. Thank you for the video and information about it. This place is making on the day trip out of Tokyo list for when I go to Japan.
I saw the notif picture and immediately got flashbacks
Some people collect toys, some people collect manga, but not Aki. Aki wants to collect curses....
She does all of that, with cursed.
1:37 ah yes konbinis once again being extremely convinient.
I think i heard and read that someone was murdered in the forest a long time ago and said that the government shut the tour down to go through it because of that.
I don't know anything at all about that forest, or its history, or why it is considered haunted, however, I do have a theory.
The theory is that it is forbidden to enter the forest - what little remains of it - because the government don't want people to enter and trash the place, potentially damaging the forest, and making the forest slowly die out.
It sounds like the forest has deep historical ties to the past, where once I can imagine that the forest was far vaster than what it is today, probably spanning the entirety of the city even, and if that is true, then it would also explain how it has the rumors of how once you enter the forest, it is said that you will get lost and never be found again.
And as for why it is considered haunted, that might be a rumor that was purposely spread by people that work to conserve the last remaining trees of a once great forest to keep potential troublemakers away, protecting the trees from potential harm.
This rumor could be something that has been told from parent to child for generations, and where once it actually made sense, now it is but a remnant from an age old past, but people still talk about the rumor as it sort of keeps the reputation and history of the forest alive.
And as for why it is considered haunted, that might be a rumor that was purposely spread by people that work to conserve the last remaining trees of a once great forest to keep potential troublemakers away, protecting the trees from potential harm.
That is, at least, my theory for why it is considered haunted and forbidden to enter, and that you'd get lost if you ever were to enter.
...sooo the buildings built on the area of where the forest was before reduced, does that mean you're now cursed after exiting the convenience store?
Bamboo Trees Are Beautiful
Aki: bows before torii gate
Me: googles the meanin of torii gates
Also me: _panics about the way I use them in animal crossing_
I can see this forest disorienting someone back in they day when it was mostly forest. The bamboo swaying.
Wait a second... I pass this every day !!
i love these sm
We have such clusters of bamboo near my house too. And if it's too windy, we can hear whistling like the flute from them. At the dead of a stormy night someone is playing the flute. Now, that's creepy!😵💫😨😱
I live in West Bengal of India 🇮🇳.
i have made a severe and continuous lapse in my judgement
haven’t we all
Oop
Logan paul reference
@@Tokk-I0 oh my god you didn’t
If the curse gets more concentrated as the forest shrank would perhaps be more justified for why it still has it's reputation since it now occupied little more than a vacant lot in the middle of a city. But it's sweet that tradition has allowed it to keep it's reputation despite being now a large overgrown back yard among the concrete and steel.
Awesome video akidearest amazing job.
very pretty and such an epic sound. ty for sharing
Love the video and keep up the great work Aki
Thanks for the video.
Aki I LOVE this type of content can't wait for more
You can't find a better example of deforestation that this. At least they left that corner alone to remind people what it once was. (not being judgy here, I too live in similar area)
That leave on Aki’s hair… so lovely~~~~~
Oh god, wow. It's been actual years since I've watched this channel. Come a long way since talking about Vocaloid.
The movement of the bamboo in the wind does look hypnotic, if not enchanting.
The Paul brothers been real quiet since this dropped.
Tasteless
Been waiting for this vid ^^
oh how i miss the sound of swaying bamboo trees. used to leave near plenty of them and its so calming
Oh it's just a bamboo forests. Akidearest your curiosity in going in the haunted forest is just intriguing.
For anyone wondering what 'Fantasmas' means, it means ghost.
Idk if she said it in Spanish or Poruguese cus both are written in the same way I believe-
So yuh
FANTASMAS = Fantastic Christmas?
Well... I like my interpretation! 🎄🎁🎊
i could see getting lost in an actual bamboo forest, but that plot looks about as wide as a typical yard in the US suburbs.
I loved the sound of swaying bamboo. But can easily see someone in the past getting lost in the back then way bigger forest.
Convenience stores being called modern day taverns is honestly a very nice simile which I'm going to steal from now on
1:41 that's pretty much like convince store or barber shops where I'm from
bruh why she delete the new vid i had it ready to watch grabbed some food and it was privated xD
Edit:later found out it was cause of an audio issue
Maybe because it was too dark for youtube?
Edit: apparently there was an audio issue
I saw it too
I have issues when I lose focus, kinda trippy even through screen seen the bamboo sway like that. I wouldn't want to lose focus in a bamboo forest, though the noise is soothing.
The scene where aki put the camera in the keyhole, i was like... Nopeee nopeee, i watch too many horror movie to know whats coming 😂
Who else was expecting a jumpscare when Aki was looking through the hole in the door 😂
for some reason the music you chose, reminded me of pokemon. like unown or the dog trio
The swinging bamboo trees freaked me out because it keeps looking like it's about to fall lol.
that shit looks like a dark souls boss arena.
You really should accurately differentiate shrines from temples.
That theme song of the bamboo forest sounds truly ominous. I feel like I'm in a JRPG now.
the fact that it's just a tiny plot of dense trees actually kind of makes it creepier in a way! imagine walking home from school/work everyday through a concrete jungle passing all kinds of buildings and then for some unknown reason there is just a whole ass forest in the middle of the city. then you move on and it's back to regular cityscape scenery. it's so out of place and because it's so small, it's easy to let curiosity get the better of you and take a peek inside, after all, there's no way you'd get lost! right...? anyway whoever makes this into a horror game pls let me know
I also love the idea that some people were so passionate about keeping the forest up that they made up rumors about it being haunted to prevent it from being torn down bc who knows, maybe that is what happened :o
Aki was right, small curse for a small forest. this one will cause you to spil your drink.
3:56 I wish they would've done that typical transition where Aki disappeared when the camera passed the pole.
I heard the *ding ding ding* at the beginning of the video and then said “Cocomelen”. I am going to die alone.
Cool video all the best seth
