This video was amazing 😂 that intro was perfect. You should try reading the comic, I think you’d like it!
Also if you ever wanna review a comic book please check out Johnny The Homicidal Maniac. It’s my favorite comic and I think you’d like it! It’s only 7 issues so it’s pretty short but there’s like black comedy and tons of gore. It was done by the creator of invader zim so it has a similar style of art.

My cousin & I waited for Blu ray & watched it the other night, we were left by the end of the movie utterly speechless, everything you commented on in your review is 100% spot on, bad acting, awful script, naff cgi & as a English speaking Brit those accents are shockingly bad especially from Daniel Day Kim.
Many fans including me wanted Del-Toro/Pearlman Hellboy 3 to tie up the loose ends from The Golden Army but nah what we get is this toxic turd of a reboot instead, no wonder David Harbor didn't do press probably wants to erase it from his CV.
I loved it! Very dark. Yes, the CGI looked a little crappy but I liked it. I had a good time.

I saw it earlier and I had to know your thoughts on it. I thought it was okay. I do see where you're coming from. Could it have been better? Absolutely. 100 percent. But at the end of the day, Del Toro's 3rd film should have been made. Thank you for not showing that Not Another Teen Movie picture. The memory haunts me. Great review, Lee.

David Harbor was good in the role only plus thing I can say about the movie. First superhero movie I didn’t care about the mid credits scene. Also final boss battle was disappointing. Best part was at the end when the team was running and kick start my heart was playing. If the movie stayed with that tone it could have been really fun and gory that’s all I wanted with this movie.
I LOVE Doomsday, so unrated. to me it felt like 28 days later, meets Robin hood, meets Fast and Furious lol I like the first two Hell boy movies. Why is it when the world hates a movie, it makes me want to see it more ?

I completely agree with you about CG blood. It’s a huge pet peeve of mine when it comes to modern filmmaking. It almost always looks bad and takes me out of the movie.
I didn't even know this movie came out already. I had 0 interest without the involvement of Guillermo Del Toro or Ron Pearlman. You can't deny Ron Pearlman's charisma and Del Toro's direction. It looks like a cheap SyFy channel movie.

Goes to show you what big egos does to film. If Neil Marshal had complete control then...yeah! I on the other hand liked it. It's not the best I admit. Won't be a smash (pun intended) But I liked it. I thought the action was good. The CGI was cheesy. I agree. Some of the acting was watered down. But I can forgive most if it. Post on man!

I knew when I saw Milla Jovovich's wooden ass was in it, that it was bound to suck. I agree with you about Neil Marshall. He is such an underrated director. Not only movies, but some of the best episodes of Westworld, Hannibal, and Game of Thrones, to name a few.
When Lee said her name I immediately thought "Milla Jovovich is in this? There's a red flag right there." She's spent most of her career playing a fantasy of her husband's that being Mary Sue-oh I'm sorry Alice.
Too bad! I really loved The Golden Circle, and I would have preferred a sequel by Guillermo Del Toro. I wasn't sold on the new Hellboy, but I'll check it out when it comes out on Redbox.

see @DrumDums I thought David Harbour from Stranger Things was great as Hellboy and hilarious personally. Now, the movie around him wasn’t great at all but, if there’s one thing I did enjoy it was David Harbour’s performance as Hellboy. I thought he did great especially the line when he made a comment about “The Osiris Club I’ve been to looks just like this inside except for the one I’ve been to had strippers.” I don’t know why that was so funny to me maybe because I love the character so much and I personally thought he was just as good as Ron Perlman if not a smidge better in my opinion. That’s just my opinion though, I can definitely see the other side of the coin to why people might say that Ron Perlman is better than David Harbour and forever will be Hellboy.

I mean I knew it was going to be crap but I didn't know it was one of the worst movies that you've seen in a long time. I own three versions of the original Hellboy with the three different covers you know the one with Hellboy in it the one with the fish guy in it and the one with the girl in it that's how much I love that movie and this movie is as bad as you say. I'll probably watch it once and then it will be part of my April fools month of reviews. Where are you a bunch of shit movies and I in just raving at how bad they are. Be a Hellboy is a really good character I love his movies the comics are great like like one time he's like drunk and he's like a waving around a bottle at like some stupid skeleton and it's hilarious. Ron Perlman is great he's the only actor who should ever play Hellboy

I actually love the Del Toro movies. I think they've got a good sense of humor, cool designs, and Hellboy himself is likable, with Ron Perlman turning in a great and genuine performance. Also, I believe that the Del Toro movies really stand as great examples that you can make a good and fun movie while sticking to a PG-13 rating. Hellboy 2019 is actively trying to be R-rated. Don't get me wrong, I love R-rated movies, but this just comes accross as very desperate and kind of annoying. But hey, at least I still have the originals.

I feel people aren't giving this a chance and just calling it bad because it wasn't what they were expecting, watch the movie with no expectations. Stop wanting something from a movie and getting pissed when you dont get it. There really are no actual problems with this movie. I feel people just are looking to dislike it. Or people don't understand it so they don't like it. It was a very easy movie to follow if you just pay attention. Honestly I'm really upset at how much hate this movie is getting, the movie made it clear to follow, the action was great. And saying you don't like it because of CGI is kind of ridiculous, like you know what you're going into based on watching trailers. And just the type of movie this is. On top of that it's very clearly a comic book movie, how about instead of feeling the need to try and tear a movie apart while watching try just going in and watching a movie? I'm sorry if I'm coming across mad but this is the 5th bad review of Hellboy I've seen and I just got out of the movie. And it reallt seem like you're all deciding to not like this movie based on other merits not this movies fault. Obviously it's directed differently than the decent. That was a horror movie, this is an action movie? Maybe Hellboy just came out at the wrong time because people were expecting some kind of either gritty dark bullshit, or a superhero movie. Hellboy was an action comic book movie.
Like I don't get it would people have prefered a Hellboy origin story movie? But people always complain that there's another one of those too. Maybe you can't make a good movie with originality anymore without people getting upset. Like sorry this movie didn't treat us like idiots who have never heard of a story before

Thank you for reviewing this turd so the rest of us could save our money. It was bullshit that Hellboy 3 didn't happen. Double bullshit that we got this shit pile instead. And I think this project reeks of studio mauling. Neil Marshall is too good for this.

Like you i usually love the darker comic book films but never got into Hell boi films . It always looked like he had corks in his forehead. The cgi looks terrible from the trailer alone so I’m not surprised here.

Neil Marshall’s The Descent is a great movie and a classic I was appalled by the truth that Neil Marshall directed Hellboy that turd of a movie that is considered the worst of 2019

Boys and girls out in movie land. I told you a R rating don't guarrentee a great or good movie. You have to have the right writers and director. Nothing wrong with R ratings or PG-13 just please make sure you have a great script to follow. So many whined about make this movie rated R or that movie should be rated R. Some forget Darkknight was what rated R. Why was it good movie WB picked the perfect director. Perlman's Hellboy was rated PG-13 and right now is a better Hellboy because it had the better dirtector.

I felt they rehashed the plot from The Golden Army. I give credit for the actors and actresses for doing what they could with an absolute awful script. Glad I used a gift card to see it

regarding that version of Hellboy from 2019 I have my doubts and misgivings about it
I’ll end up watching it at some stage as my kid is desperate to see this. We can’t take him to see it as it’s rated 15 here. I love how much you hate this, lol. It amuses me. What you said about bathing a movie in CGI is so true!!

I was so mad seeing the trailer for this his look was all wrong. I love the original Hellboy 1 and then 2 even more than the first. I thought they were so much fun. My son is 11 and he loves the original movies But we are not even going to see this one . could care less. I'm glad you did the review though because that's all the info ill get on it.
Why not just do Hellboy 3 with Perlman/Del Toro, it looks horrible. A Perfect Getaway with Milla Jovovich was pretty good. Its with Timothy Olyphant.

I think you nailed the problem with this franchise near the end of this review: the jokes. I really want to love the first two Hellboy films (they're beautiful), and I wanted to see this one...but the humor kills them. When the movie/TV show isn't a comedy, humor is just like salt. A little bit enhances the flavor of the story, but if you add too much it ruins everything. None of the Hellboy films really felt like they took themselves seriously, and if the main characters don't seem to care that the world is ending, then why should I?

That end scene with all the bloody mayhem in London was the only fun I had watching this, but like you said it was all a CGI mess!
Yeah it was pretty bad. The creature designs I was fine with. The contortionist for baba yaga I liked. The music choices were random. They had characters in there for no reason but for exposition. I didnt care much for this version of the hell boy character. I have to wonder how much control the director had. Sometimes it felt like you came in on part 2 of a series. Maybe this could have been better as a miniseries.

When I first saw the trailer for this I thought it was a spoof, never really got into it from there.
Loved hearing you give this film total crap! Hasn't seen any of the Hellboy movies and i'm glad i haven't. I was watching this film called Green River Killer that i've had on DVD for years though never watch and OMG, it was so execrable that I literally only watched 15mins before taking it out of my dvd player and immediately chucking it in the bin. It was rated r yet it was a homemade piece of crap.

You hated this movie more than I did Lee! LOL! Anyway, I don't blame Neil Marshall for this mess, it's screenwriter Andrew Crosby who is responsible for this mess of a story and plot. It's so disjointed and incoherent. That's why David's one-liners don't, despite how hard he tries to make them work. However, despite how bad this movie was, I did find it a bit entertaining.
