Mate, when you are 60 years old you will look back and know you had a good life. It's all about the adventures and the stories, you will have plenty. Good to see, keep going...
Eh life doesn’t end at 60! 😂 😂 there are still adventures to be had beyond 60, I’m 61 this month and this year I aim to do a 100 mile section of the Cambrian way, the Skye trail and maybe the coast to coast, with the cape wrath trail next spring. If you have the desire to see new things it never leaves you. But I understand what you mean 👍
@stewart gregson haha... If I had written 90 yrs old someone would have still picked me up on it . I'm only a couple of years behind you and likewise I've no plan to slow down. 4 trips up Snowdon at the end of last year and off to Chamonix for Mont Blanc in May. Enjoy your travels my friend, sounds like you have some fun plans.
@@stewartgregson8479 agree, 60 is not the end of life - unless you lead a very unhealthy life when you’re younger. I know people in their 80s who are more active than some people in their 20s.
This is amazing. I was a 20 year old apprentice in the Royal Navy in 1962, serving at the Royal Naval Air Station at Halfar at the south west tip of Malta. We had two weeks “station leave”, meaning we were not able to return to UK. With a fellow apprentice, we were able to borrow camping gear and everything we needed from the Naval stores, and we did this same walk around Malta and Gozo, taking virtually the same route, finishing back at Halfar. The islands were much less developed then, and we camped on beaches in Gozo where there was not another person to be seen. Mellieha bay was a totally natural beach, nothing there. We were frequently offered food and drink by local people we met on our walk, and sometimes traded canned food from our supplies for fresh. One of the many happy memories of my time in Malta 60 years ago. At that time, much of Valletta was still not rebuilt after the war damage. I’m now 81 and planning a holiday in Malta this year.I know it won’t be the same, but I’m sure many of the sights will still be there. I have been back once in the 90’s so saw some of the changes.
Alan Whitfield amazing story. It so nice to hear stories how Malta used to be. I have been twice and liked it every time. It is so calm and peaceful although some places are overrun by tourists . It looks like Mexico in some places with all the Cactus that are there lol. We go to st Paul's bay. And saw some of the English forts there. They look like they were built yesterday. That how in good condition they are. Love the food in Malta. And in the three cities one of them we had a pizza. Wow. Never had pizza like it. Beautiful it was. Even the bottled water was like so fine n just tasted amazing we loved it. Love the people there
Hi Alan thanks for sharing your wonderful story..I have a question..during your stay in Hal Far in Malta, have you ever went or knew of a bar called the oxygen bar?
Hi Liam, I'm a Brit from the North of England who was so fortunate to move to Gozo/Malta almost 6 years ago. I was glued to this video for the entire time, as knew all the paths/roads you took. So many memories, I was brought up in Malta and my first language was Maltese. That was in the early 60s and all that has been lost, dont even remember the language, and just beautiful bright blue memories..... thanks mate!
My grandad was part of the Malta convoys that kept Malta going during WW2. He has some good stories about being there. I have to get myself over there one day, it looks amazing.
Nice one Liam, I hiked and Wild Camped all the way around Gozo and Comino last year. I only had a basic bivvy so wild camped in a cave, an abandoned hotel and a centuries-old Fort. Was a great trip. Nice one 👍
Malta always seems so bright cos the buildings are built with limestone which reflects the sun and makes it all look so bright . Valletta has this affect when u go there. I really like Valetta. It is a lovely city.
I'm local from the Maltese islands and discovered your vlog. That first island which you pinpointed, is Filfla. With a permit, one can visit. But mostly just staying on the boat. Filfla was used by the British military for target point training, and what you see is a miniature of what Filfla used to be before that in size. Malta's West is rugged as well, and I think you opted for country roads for a few paths.. also weird as it may sound..maybe it was your best bet to opt such roads instead, considering that the ones you avoided are mostly private land and would have also taken you longer to complete due to their steep slope. I did them however, and they are rugged with awesome cliff views. The geology of rocks, fossilized shells is typical all over here. So much to say due to our long history. I really enjoyed your approach, just raw and free backpacking! :)
Thank you for never making us suffer the indignity of having to watch someone doing the ultimate travel cliche, vlogging in an airport, riding around on a stupid little skateboard and then filming the luggage carousel send the bags round and round

Brought back some good memories. I lived in Malta for 7 years and my local walk was Dingli cliffs after work most evenings. The small island of the coast where you camped is called Filfla and was used for target practice by coastal defences during WW2. Its now a nature reserve and only authorised visitors allowed. It is reported as a breeding ground for great whites... For those wishing to do a similar walk, do it during the spring time as temperatures easily get up to 40C in July and August. ps There are NO snakes in Malta or Gozo.
Great video Liam in such a great place! I visited in December on a last minute holiday after the cold spell here in England (much inspired by yourself). Just packed and went solo wondering the islands, such a warm and friendly place, with so many similarities to England yet feeling European too.

I lived in Malta when I was younger, easily my favourite place, so many fantastic memories of me just messing around with my friends, climbing around construction sites or playing in the arcade… Good times.
A nice walk along one of the nicest parts of our country. Thanks for sharing. Normally we do similar walks and more on this tiny island we call it Malta 🇲🇹❤️
I lived there for over a year and was ok but I came back as I really missed the proper Scottish Nature, greenery, trees and colder weather. Malta is good for holiday only! :) Nice to see you there enjoying the patchs.
I'll be visiting Gozo in a few months. I used to like staying on Malta but it's a lot more built up now compared to when I started going in the early 1980s. I stayed in Xaghra last time close to the Ggantija Temples you visited. This time I'm staying in Nadur. I've walked a lot of the island but return to a comfy Airbnb each night 😁
Nice one, Liam. I went to Gozo as a kid in the 70s and remember those ‘most amazing garages’. we sat nearby and watched three women come out of one of the ‘garages’. They looked like nuns the way they were dressed. They walked purposefully to the end of the path and jumped into the sea - fully clothed! Then they swam around a bit and climbed out, went back inside! Always remember that. Your video makes me want to go back. Well done mate.
Malta like rabbit dishes. We tried it and it was really nice. Love the pastries there in Malta. They do one with mushy peas in. Awesome n so British lol. Malta was my first time abroad. N it was a nice first destination if u not been abroad before. The people speak English or the majority do. So great

Liam, that was one amazing video, could even be a travel vlog ! You are certainly enjoying life my friend.
Such a dream to sleep by sea/streams . Love seeing it in ur videos
A truly beautiful place... Makes me want to get out there hiking more often... Thanks Liam👍🏻
Love the ending Liam 👍👍
Thank you for another wonderful video, my family is from all those places you have traveled to, I’m in the states and because of my health, I can’t visit and get to know those amazing places, but with your videos I’m living it through your eyes, thank you so much for sharing your adventures 👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I lived in Malta when I was younger, easily my favourite place, so many fantastic memories of me just messing around with my friends, climbing around construction sites or playing in the arcade… Good times.
Another great adventure! Put together so well
Incredible video as always! As much as I love creating what I do, this is a whole different level of ambition. Bravo sir. 🍻
Another great adventure Liam, loving these island walks. Thanks for sharing 👍
Consistently fantastic videos Liam mate, must be unreal doing these walks so often. Enjoying this one as usual 👍🏻
A nice walk along one of the nicest parts of our country. Thanks for sharing. Normally we do similar walks and more on this tiny island we call it Malta 🇲🇹❤️
Hi on 6:33 that small island is called filfla and back in the day it was big but there were bombs around it and they exploded so the island shrank
Not sure how you managed to resist getting in that beautiful blue water.
You have a great eye for composition and a unique editing style. Always love your videos!
Im maltese and found your vlogs to be excellent, thabk you for show casing my country in such a beautiful way
we had a house in Pembroke which was the old british army base. the greenery you get in winter is in stark contrast to summer. one day I'll be back
I lived there for over a year and was ok but I came back as I really missed the proper Scottish Nature, greenery, trees and colder weather. Malta is good for holiday only! :)
Nice to see you there enjoying the patchs.
Another fantastic adventure mate, keep it going your great ☀️👣
I love those garages, would make a lovely weekend beach hut.
Great Video Liam. So relaxing to watch. I look forward to future videos.
Great video Liam 😁 & what a amazing views you had & looking forward to the next one ☝😁
Liam you're fantastic mate. Keep up with the good videos. They're magic 👍😁👍
Love your videos Liam - admiring your adventures from afar (from Western Australia)
I enjoyed that, thank you. Malta is my favourite place. I may be biased as my Mum is Maltese. Would love to do what you did
Nice one, Liam.
Vin JELLY: Was it laundry day?
Great video as usual, really enjoy your walks, thanks!
Another class video lad. Love to see it!
Your vids are so relaxing, love your narration and just the sounds of where you're hiking no music so great 🙌
Malta like rabbit dishes. We tried it and it was really nice. Love the pastries there in Malta. They do one with mushy peas in. Awesome n so British lol. Malta was my first time abroad. N it was a nice first destination if u not been abroad before. The people speak English or the majority do. So great
Went to Malta last year for the first time and it wont be my last, lovely little country
We went to gozo also. Very nice. Would have liked to stay there for few days. It looked amazing whilst we had a short time there.
What’s an awesome adventure like this one. I was getting those summers vibes with the sun and sea!
I Do Really Enjoy These Videos, Escapism From Every Day Life Here In The UK!!!
Watching your videos I see a lot of similarities to myself and it's cool. I recently found your channel and I love the videos so far. At 6:40 when you were looking at the rock/island in the distance and wondering if anybody has ever been on it, that's exactly what I think all the time when I see 'remote' or hard to get to places like that haha.
