    #11, I’ve seen it on documentary tv, it’s part of the world’s toughest prison! When inmates out of the cell and always escorted by the guards outside, the inmates have to wear blindfolds so they will never see the sky hence the phrase “you will never see the light of the day”.

  • @jwwj30
    @jwwj30 3 года назад +13

    The difference between prison #1 (Florence, Colorado) & prison #2 (Cape Town, South Africa) is literally night & day. You have absolutely nothing in Pollsmoor, no food, no water, no individual room, no shower, no inmate rights... absolutely nothing. At the Supermax in Florence, just the opposite. Your own private room with running clean water, toilet, 3 meals a day delivered to your room, books, TV, you get what I'm saying. Never feel sorry for the inmates in the USA, they are spoiled compared to other inmates in the World.

      With respect, I agree with your proper highlighting of the contrast between the two (although the only reason they were even in the same category/list with eachother, being compared/ranked, was for how 'heavily guarded' they are, without considering how ethically/cleanly they achieve that ✔️)... But not with your (fairly 'absolutist') conclusion, in principle - as we NEED to measure ourselves by, and calibrate ourselves to, our own, _relatively humane,_ conscience and moral identity.

    • @juancarlosnegron2358

      As a former prisoner in New York State and an open minded individual I disagree w your observations besides the fact that the video was about most secure prisons not the most ethical prison. Local government determine what's allowable in any given facility. The fact that south African officials allow their facility to be ran the way it is , is their problem not Americans being pampered. And yes a prisoner is a prisoner no matter where you are in the world you learn to adapt to survive. Period.

      @@juancarlosnegron2358 you're assuming the local goverments have the money/power to control the prisons. Prisons that are like that becuase they lack the resources to actually have control of the population. While american prisons are awful in their own way, I gotta agree with the others. Not even having a place to sleep of your own or even the knowledge that the guards don't run the prison rather the most violent prisoners do.

      @sarahivsutterb747 2 года назад

      ADX stands for Administrative Maximum and it is the term for Level 6 supermax used by the Federal Bureau of Prisons in the US. But the correct name and abbreviation for this institution is United States Penitentiary Administrative Maximum Facility Florence, Colorado or USP Florence ADMAX and from the last abbreviation of ADMAX the people there took the two first letters and the last one and made the term of ADX and this is the reason why it is commonly known as ADX Florence supermax prison! I hope it is helpful for you to understand this ADX thingle-dee-dingle!

    Millhaven on the outskirts of Toronto are you fucking kidding me I've been to millhaven and it is consistent with the Canadian prison system. Do you think one of the most secure prisons in the world would have inmates that have a weekend sentence. Case somebody doesn't know when you get weekend it is just that Monday to Friday you're free to live your life. Obviously to get this you will need to have a job or some reason and not be convicted of a violent crime or serious crime. However I live in London about an hour west of millhaven prison and when you would check in on Friday once everybody was there they would ship you to millhaven and the conditions for being in prison we're amazing dormitory you have cells but you can come and go out of them as you please the common areas again you can do as you please there's no a lockdown nothing you're basically locked in the range for the weekend guards do watch over you but it's not even like a Detention Center where you will be locked down at night after breakfast the doors will pop you'll be able to use the common area with the people in your range for a couple of hours lock back down you'll get lunch and a couple more hours in the cell doors will pop couple hours in the common area lock back down dinner served doors will pop back to the common area couple of hours lock down for the night. Millhaven when doing a weekend sentence you get a cell and those doors unless something really goes wrong will not be locked they will not mandate you are locked in the Cell at certain times it's like going to Camp convicts now I've also driven past that facility hundred time and it would be difficult to get out of but the most secure get the fuck out of here we have maximum security penitentiary northern areas of the country New Haven is in the southern part of Canada for instance I am 45 minutes from the American Border from the southernmost part of Ontario you go to Collins Bay some of the penitentiary out west which is geographically hundreds if not thousands miles north and for people that don't know in the southern tip of Canada the summer you will reach 45 degrees Celsius with 100% humidity in the winter we can hit -45 degrees Celsius not counting the wind chill factor what do you think it's like up north the most secure because of the climate conditions and geographical location. All of Canada second largest country by mass in the world has less citizens within all of the borders of Canada then the state of California California has more people living in it in Canada some of these Penitentiary that are in the North are literally by themselves with nobody around maybe a small town but even if you escape there's nowhere to go if the Wilderness and the climate does not kill you millhaven get the fuck out my apologies about the punctuation and grammar I'm using voice activated text they are prohibitively difficult when using hope you understand

    I did 2 years in millhaven In bath ontario. Every control room has numerous assualt rifles and tear gun launchers and you constantly hear gunshots all day long ( apparently to make you think twice about trying to escape, in the yard there is a small waist high fence if you cross that fence and continue on towards the bigger fence they will let a warning shot if you keep going your DEAD . When I was in there in 2007 -2010 there was 3 murders and 1 attempted murder ,numerous stabbings ,its not that scary of a place but when u first enter the prison you see a sign for a biological clean up maintenance room that says in case of major bodily fluid spills,kinda unnerving and you also have to pay for your own body bag ( 110$ ) before you can order canteen(commissary)( junkfood,hygiene products and such ).. dont wanna go back I didnt find it particularly fun place to be , kinda boring lol

      Then there is Collins Bay aka Gladiator School in Kingston. I did roughly 30 days in Millhaven in reception when I got my federal sentence in the late 90's. I got lucky and shipped to camp (Frontenac) which was such an easy go. At the time I was working on the dairy farm there and walking past those walls and guard towers at Collins Bay usually made you think twice of trying to escape (even though Frontenac is outside the walls of Collins Bay) though we did have a couple guys make a run for it from Frontenac and they were eventually recaptured. But the day I came into Millhaven, I was scared shitless. Seeing those fences with the razor wire and the guard towers with the armed guards.....
