I’ve been playing Mario 64 for 22 years... and this is the first time I realized that Bob-Bomb Battlefield, Cool Cool Mountain, and the Slide Music are all variations on the same piece.
Isn't it cool though how he uses the same melody, yet completely re orchestrates and re-stylizes his motif to make something fresh and new? :D That's the power of exploiting your good material in composition :)
I remember back in the 90s, first time I played this gem of a game was on an airport. They had an N64 with Mario 64 when it was brand new, so kids could try it. My sister and I played happily while waiting for the plane to depart. I remember we even played at the same time, one was using the joystick and the other used the buttons. The nostalgia burns.
RK Belmont That is awesome! I remember when I was little, like 2 years old, my dad played Super Mario 64 and let me try it, but I was too scared to play it! A year later I turned the console on while everyone in my house was sleeping and played the game. I got to the Bob-Omb Battlefield when my dad found me playing, and instead of turning off the Nintendo 64 he rather took a seat next to me and watched me playing while giving me advices. This is why I love videogames. They can make the best memories with your family and friends
Oh it's the same no matter the era. They had demo machines for Mega Drives and SNES consoles too (Game Boy as well believe it or not - practically welded to a pedestal! 😂). Hearing the covers by great artists, especially 0:09? I'm not ashamed to say my eyes are leaking. ;) 😂
I love hearing orchestras playing any song from Super Mario! 😊 "Dear Mario: Please come to the castle. I've baked a cake for you. Yours truly-- Princess Toadstool Peach"
Searching for orchestral Mario arrangements in celebration of the release of Super Mario Odyssey brought me to this video. I think I just hit the jackpot.
L'Orchestre de Jeux Vidéo - OJV Thanks for sharing! :D Wow! You guys improved at lot, it seems. I like this new arrangement better, but the old one is great too. Seriously, if this arrangement had the Ending theme like the old one, it would be perfect.

Haha yes we did improve, it's nice to hear! Thank you
I loved how the Dire Dire Docks theme would change depending on your position in the actual map. It felt amazing to know exactly when the hot part would cut in because I was running up the sandy beach to the cave ready to be dodging falling columns.
Dire dire docks was my favorite song from Mario 64. I still remember playing the water levels, even after getting all the stars, just to listen to that song as a kid (specially the one with a ship). So many memories.
Amazing, I Would Imagine Nintendo Doing This If They Made A Super Mario 64 HD Or A Remake. I Can Just Picture These Songs Playing With Amazing Graphics
*Those who dislike the video they just don’t know the masterpiece Super Mario truly was growing up for us and the melody as well... Awesome job loved it!*
Bob-omb Battlefield just stirs something inside me so well. I just get so revved up and ready to GO ADVENTURE. I used to spend ages just sorta wandering around that level, playing pretend with myself bc I couldn't figure out how to get past the first few stars lol. And then of course Dire Docks just fills me with such nostalgia and emotions
I think even when ur in Germany one day I can't go to your concert, because I would sit in there and cry all the time, because of the feelplosion and all the Childhood memories ♥

You would not be alone to cry ;) You can actually spot people in our YT videos getting emotional. It is great to perform nostalgic music like this and see the joy and the memories in our audience! Thanks for the comment :D
It's really weird your cover/medley of the music brought more smiles and silly giggles reminiscing on this music than any other songs could. I hope yall as are continuing to do well. Nothing but love and respect for all of you.
The most awesome thing of mario 64 (besides the amazing ost) is the fact that the controls of the game still works as a dream. A lot of 3D titles from this generation are almost unplayable today but zelda, mario, donkey kong and banjo kazooie hold up even today
I honestly believe that classical instruments can play any song and have it sound great. Especially when you bring it all together in an orchestra. Great job fellas keep up the great work.
You guys really nailed the OST for Super Mario 64. Marvellous job! As a owner of the game, it is nice to see you guys recreate the music in a different way but maintain the integrity to follow the structure of the soundtrack. You guys are really talented. If you guys become very popular and decide to travel, I would buy a ticket in a heartbeat.
Oh. So many wonderful childhood memories from exploring these 3d fantasy worlds. They are some of my most cherished memories. Love. Thank you for the beautiful orchestration of this music. Reconnaissance. Je vous remercie.
A fan fictional ending to a Super Mario animated film: Mario and the princess get married, music at 1:09 starts to play after the wedding. Mario and Peach are greeting and mingling with their guests, then they come back together as a Luma flies under Mario’s cap. Music at 1:35 begins to play as Mario and Peach are walking into the sunset towards the Mushroom Kingdom while holding hands. A koopa offers to come and take their photo. Music at 1:51 plays as other residents of the Kingdom such as Toads, Koopas, and Mario’s other friends join them in the photo. The koopa joins the crowd after setting a timer for the camera. 2:04 plays as the photo is taken when Peach jumps into Mario’s arms. The film ends with the photograph on screen. Bob-Omb Battlefield plays next in the credits.
The Mario music, in any game, is so unique, and so underrated composition wise. Coming from a classic rock background, Mario music ALWAYS amazes me and brings tears to my eyes.
This medley is sacrilegious and incomplete without Super Mario 64's most inspiring, uplifting and beautiful song of the game, and possibly Super Mario series' best ever--Bowser in the Dark World. Still, awesome and unbeatable, unparalleled work.

Not really. They just don't like the arrangement, and chances are they have better taste than you realize. I personally liked most of it, but the Bob-omb Battlefield and the Secret Slide were found wanting IMO.
I’ve come to this video after a month or so negotiating and talking with you via e-mail, and my own version of Super Mario 64 is officially in the works! The first rehearsal is being run tomorrow. Although I couldn’t get a score from you, I arranged my own, which it was heavily based off yours (with my own little twists in there) and I couldn’t thank you enough for the inspiration. I am actually becoming less shy/introverted by running my SM64 show. Again, I couldn’t thank you enough and I’ll put a link to my own in May! I played this game when my dad bought me a N64. I can recall the hours playing this game, this music takes me back to those days. I had no friends so my only friend was that 3d mario in the TV lol. But I can’t complaint, that part of my childhood was really cool. I even remember doing a paper for class on ‘things I did during summer’ in which I explain how I only got a few stars left to complete the game. I never got the last one tho, the one in which you have to beat a time record on the slide level.
Ahh the memories of throwing the WRONG BABY penguin off the edge.
Ahh the memories of throwing both baby penguins :)
😂😂😂
Ahaha memories
Lol
I’m just glad I wasn’t the only one who did that 😂
Dire Dire Docks had me in tears. I still love the music in that level.
I agree. It's more than just a song. To me, it represents my childhood, along with the whole game.
@@tonyasa4658 indeed it is the lullaby of a time that will never come back.

I’ve been playing Mario 64 for 22 years... and this is the first time I realized that Bob-Bomb Battlefield, Cool Cool Mountain, and the Slide Music are all variations on the same piece.
I been havent played it for 15 years back in 2005 2006
The same happened with Super Mario world. Main, Athletic, Underground, Underwater and Castle are variations of the same arrangement.
It's its leit motiv
You know, listening to this made me realize that Slider and Snow Mountain are basically the same song.
So is Bob-Omb Battlefield
also, nice name, New Super Bros. U World Land 3D Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon: Partners in Time!
Isn't it cool though how he uses the same melody, yet completely re orchestrates and re-stylizes his motif to make something fresh and new? :D That's the power of exploiting your good material in composition :)
Playing Minecraft and having the Mario map I hear the 2 themes when I go in creative mode so I just find Snow mountain a more “ cheesy “ way of Slider
Oh my god, you're right. I never noticed that before
They're all the same song
The rendition of Bob-omb Battlefield is superb
not tight enough

People cough on the loud parts too...but you just can't hear it. :)
Can't stand awkward silence
Maybe because they are nervous trying NOT to make any loud noise, but you end up making a loud noise LOL.
its scientific fact that inappropriately loud coughs are more likely whenever something is being quietly played for an audience
