  • The Munter Friction Hitch employs a carabiner to generate and apply friction to a moving rope, or pair of ropes, typically used in descent/belay. Please see videos on the channel demonstrating both single and double rope rappel using the Munter.

What was the 3 lbs. of 8mm climbing Rope u bought 30 meters of (96 ft.) that u used the 5.9 mm Sterling hitch cord with? I wasn't sure how u spelled it but it sounded alot like Munter. I like the dry rope qualities. ➕ 5 lbs. of 14mm Samson Predator which is only 75 feet isn't always the best fit when I'm biking way back with a cart cuz eventually I have to carry my bow & 2 backpacks into my destination Thanks for the great video that focuses on redundancy.

That question was on a different video. Please put questions on the video you are asking about. I have responded in the comments here:

What happens if you let go of the tag end if that rope? Will the rope just feed through under load?

Hey Paul, if you let go of rope feeding into a munter, under load, it will feed in, just not as fast as it would unobstructed. This video focuses on how to tie the munter. If you look at other videos in the channel, you'll see it in use. I always use the munter in conjunction with a friction hitch which I tend when descending. This ensures that if I let go of everything, i will stop in place.

Could a Munter hitch be used with a tree stand life with a auto block ? Tree stand harness attachment is at the back such as a muddy harness !!

I am not sure if all the words came out correctly... specifically "life" and i don't own that harness but the munter can be used to create the majority of friction on a rope Rappel using a tree saddle or conventional rock climbing or arborist saddle or harness... but wouldn't be appropriate for one with a long tail behind you. Pls look at my newest video...
