@@Botsy-Collins DASH-8 is another one. It's done in case of hydraulic failure, so the power of the wind can aid in the extension and locking of the gear.
That actually looks really fun! I too was worried about a boring set when I saw the images, but this gives me hope for more interesting technic sets in the future.
Finally an airplane from technic spring wave with unique functions that looks good and has cool mechanisms. I’m planning on getting that one and in the future they should make licensed airplanes for comerical jet airliners, cargo and fighter jets
lets not forget the 4403 from 2003. I think it was the only 2nd set with mechanism like this and had very unique of engaging it. Its one of my all time favourites, 1st set of this size
0:06 I gotta agree that it's always nice to see a LEGO Technic plane, we don't enough of 'em imo 6:35 also, fun fact, if I'm correct, flaps move synchronously, whereas ailerons move in opposite directions
@5:40 The DHC-7 has forward-retracting landing gear. I actually bought two of these last night with the goal of making the four-engined DHC-7 in the same scheme. Looking forward to the build! Had to do a Bricklink order to get some missing parts...like black rotor blades and four-bladed hub pieces.
Ok so I’m going to nerd out a little here, the landing gear on the Dash-7 (the predecessor to the Dash-8 family that had 4 Terboprop engines and had some incredible STOL (Short take off and landing) landing gear went forwards similar to this sets main gear, there are still a few of these flying but they are not used much due to haveing the 4 engines and usually carrying only 16 passengers). Ok now back to the set I will definitely be buying this and maybe even a second copy so I can extend it to a Q400 (just a shame it’s $180 AUD)
Hey I’m trying to get the landing gear to sync up but the front wheel goes up first when the back gear gets stopped about 1/4 of the way up please help!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if this large piece can be used to make a magazine for a functional Lego pistol. I've tried to make one but it's always a struggle to get a small enough magazine mechanism that both fits 'bullets' and fits inside the handle of a pistol. I might get this set just for the parts if that is the case.
I wasn't expecting this set to be so good. For a $100 that's a lot of panels and those new long frames that were so far only in tracked RC set and the big scale car models, I think. Also the mechanics inside are really good.
No brand-integration, nice looks with nice (new) parts, some functions and excellent swooshability. Also I just like technic things that don't have wheels or tracks. I'm way more excited on this model than the ford gt if I have to be honest.
Bro this guy is faster then me i started wjen i waked up and then i finished the next day in the only one who eated late respect for this guy who made the video
This set is probably used to represent the real firefighting aircraft the 416water bomber. I like the set but it could be wider just a little. Comparing this to the 2015 one I think this takes the lead on play features but the 2015 one was for realistic
I'm surprised that they managed to get both functions AND aesthetics into this set at the relatively small piece count of roughly 1100 pieces. They make cars 500x a year, but can't manage the same combination of looks vs. functionality as this plane has.
This is the only interesting model of this wave among the usual licensed car borefest. It's a shame there's no B model and those nice mechanisms are hidden below all these panels. Also the lack of aileron mechanism in such a big model is disappointing.
Geat video and representation. This is De Havilland Dash 8, and it would be a perfect model of civilian passenger plane if they left it as is. Instead, Lego had to overcomplicate and make us believe this is CL-415. Why? Don't know, since there is no Dash 8 in this role anywhere in the world.
Conair in Canada operate Dash8-400AT and 400MRE aircraft in exactly this role (although they drop red powder retardant, not water, and the fuselage is modified for the tanker role). But yes they have liveried it to resemble a CL-415.
Ok so let me get this straight: no gearbox, no power functions, no linked ailerons or HoG joystick for the control surfaces (like on 42025 Cargo Plane) 😒 What I will say is that it does look very good. They’ve clearly studied the Bombardier CL-415, and got it looking about as good as you can using Technic. I hope this set is significantly cheaper than the Cargo Plane was when it was released. Because for me there’s a disturbing lack of motorised and general functionality for a set that costs nearly £95/$120
For everyone's information, this man was up at 4:25AM making this video. I'd say he deserves some respect for that.

The ratchet mechanism reminds me about set 8232 from 1997. I think #8232 was the first set with this kind of mechanism to power blades

Someone could easily turn this into a Q300/400. Great set
Cool review and perfect setting for this type of aircraft. The forward closing landing gear can also be found on E-2D Hawkeye planes.
I couldn't wait to see review on this set. I will definitely buy it.
Nice!
Thank you so much for this amazing review ❤️

I did too until I saw the finger

You could also make it into a C-130 or smth, then again the landing gear is nothing like the C-130s, but then again, you could redesign it

Beechcraft planes do have landing gear that fold forward like that but they are all pretty small low wing passenger planes. 🤔
The main landing gear is also comparable to the Antonov AN-24 ruclips.net/video/OdvZR4CO7H0/видео.html
You need to be making 'vroom' noises while pretending to fly it. It really adds to the enjoyment. Nice work on these!
I’m definitely gonna buy technic planes they look awesome and have sick features
