Sep 19, 1777 and Oct 7, 1777. The Battles of Saratoga - fought in two stages several weeks apart - marked the climax of the Saratoga campaign, giving a decisive victory to the Americans over the British in the American Revolutionary War.
On October 17, 1777, Lt Gen John Burgoyne’s field army surrendered to Maj Gen Horatio Gates, Commander of the Northern Department. This was America's first significant victory against the British during the Revolutionary War, owing mainly to the total force effort of Continental soldiers and colonial militias working together. Today the battles at Saratoga are remembered as one of sixteen Revolutionary War streamers attached to the flag of the U.S. Army.
Bringing to life with vivid recreations, sound and editing -- focused living history documentaries on Rev War battles -- as well as some of the men who led and those who followed and fought with heroism and without regard for themselves - fighting for family, home… love of country and the men standing in line next to them.

I'm looking for an image of my old friend Russell Spies who is probably one of the renactactors in this video. He is a skilled blacksmith and a nice guy.

I can never figure out what happened to the Albany Militia after Gen. Schuyler was relieved of command. One account had them with Gen. Arnold. But they are simply left out of reports, possibly because many are Dutch speaking? The last Dutch speaker in my family was in Col. Schuyler's regiment, the general's brother.

Wasnt there a Walmart or some other store that the British soldier could go to for some food and stuff? Or maybe take a boat on the Hudson river to get to Albany?

Rebellion is what founded the United States, rebelling is the most American thing to do. Claiming rebelling is unamerican is to reveal you know nothing of America or Americans.
