- Video by Penfield TV - A Historic Lecture presented by Joseph Meli. An overview of the battles fought on September 19 and October 7 of 1777, nine miles from Saratoga, New York, generally regarded as a turning point in the War of American Independence. It began as a plan by the British to strategically control upstate New York and isolate New England from the Southern Colonies in an effort to decisively put an end to the Revolution.

There were multiple Native American raids in the Saratoga area from Burgoyne's Army. Not just the killing of Jane McCray.

Most of von Riedesel’s men were captured by Dan Morgan. Rather than send them to Boston and eventually back to England to fight them again next year, Morgan marched them to Virginia. They didn’t “just run away”…
