- One of many versions of the show introduction. They must've changed it every season. I loved this show! Pick up the Season One DVDs wherever you can! Later seasons basically don't exist, so grab 'em if you see 'em at yard sales.
What is up with our world today? Don't miss Dr. David Jeremiah explain how the Bible has predicted pandemics, socialism, globalism, and great deceptions. Where do we go from here? • Where Do We Go From He...
Brings back memories. Was the last show on Sunday night's I could stay up and watch before it was bedtime and the start of another week on school. Oh the 90s, how I took them for granted....
Absolutely. It was a great time.
Absolutely
I forgot , what caused Rebecca not to graduate with her class ??
@mrs3533 I think it was because she thought she was pregnant, but I could be wrong. Been a long time since I've revisited that show lol.
This was my favorite opening back when I was a young teen, because seeing Becca go from awkward to confident and just breezing out the door was everything to me. Plus her outfit - babydoll dress with cropped tights - was the rage back then.
ok freakin weirdo lol. Now tell us howyou flogged your chubby hog to Becca in your parents basement 🙄
She was supposed to be a nerd but she's the cutest nerd that I've saw.
I’m glad I grew up in this time era when tv shows were worth watching! I miss the 80’s-90’s!
Absolutely! My thoughts exactly! Today we can get more work done and read instead! : )
Sunday nights I remember watching this and American's Funniest Home Videos. Good times ❤️
What ???
Whoever wrote the original version of this theme song, I feel will go on to become a popular group one day.
lol. Good one. Actually, Lennon and likely more of the other Beatles thought it was ironically a dumb, "throwaway song". Lennon also weirdly enough, didn't somehow like their own 'Hey Bulldog!', too. ROFL. WHY make the song then!?
@@joshgellis3292 lol I know, Lennon hated 'Obla Di Obla Da' and called Paul's music writing "granny music".
Led Zeppelin refused to record this song.
Chilliwack, right
@@joshgellis3292 I’m guessing they needed songs to fill Yellow Submarine. Hey Bulldog is amazing with the nasty piano sound, John’s voice and the wordplay between him and Paul at the end.
This intro bring tears to my eyes! I miss the 80s and 90s. The world was on a path to be better for humanity until 9/11 struck!
I miss those times too. You are right, things started going downhill more around that time. Though some things were already going downhill before that.

One of the few shows that premiered in the late 80’s that ran into the 90’s. It was a great series for its time.
It sure was! We don't have anything like it anymore.
One of the other successful series that started late 80s and lasted into the mid 90s was "Empty Nest", and the title of its theme song was "Life Goes On". 😀
“Roseanne” and “Seinfeld” both did, but most would probably consider those 90s shows.
@@billyc768 It shared the same name as an ABC sitcom despite being a theme song for a Golden Girls spin-off.
I wish Netflix would add this to their website.
32 years later I still get goosebumps watching this! This theme song made me go through hardest time - Loosing my papa in 🇹🇿, 1991! ‘Life goes on’ and it sure has! Love you father, RIP my hero! 😍💪🏾
This intro lives rent free in my head. Lol
Sunday nights during my high school years! (graduated in '93.)

I was born 4-19-85 and I loved to watch this shit go corky my guy
I graduated in 1994.. I haven't thought about this show in years & it popped into my head this evening!
Never knew till today this was a Beatles song
@@kbriddock3570: It was because of this Beatles song that this series doesn't get shown as repeats nor is available on DVD (with the exception of Season One, which was released with a different theme song). It was too expensive due to royalty payment costs.
I loved Kellie Martin. Never missed an episode because of her.
I thought she was awesome also. She was so perky, articulate, likeable...yet humble and relatable. Nothing but good qualities. Beautiful inside and out. No wonder she makes Hallmark movies now. I kinda wish I'd watched the Christy movies she did. You can't find them anywhere anymore-- WAIT. I see you can get the series on eBay for 30 or 40 bucks.

Thank you Kellie Martin for being one of my 90’s crushes, first on Life Goes on then on ER. OP, thanks for posting.

Loved this show in the late 80's and early 90's!
I remember my mom brother and I watching this every week when it came on in the 90s. The intro and show and song and time period and nostalgic feelings from then is everything.
According to Wikipedia this show was on when I was between the age of 3 until just before my 7th bday. Crazy that I can vaguely remember it, I particularly remember a story line about some kid getting AIDS and everyone freaking out because they didn't know how it was transmitted, or there was a lot of misinformation like you could get it from a toilet seat. But the main thing I remember is this opening song and how I'd sing along to it.
It's so freakishly weird... I watched this show as a kid and identified with the show's kids (Becca and her friends), not really understanding the parents' perspective.
Now, more than thirty years later, having watched this clip totally by accident, I saw myself in the father...
Life goes on, as they say. Maybe tomorrow I WILL use that stationary bicycle. 😉
Right, it was Becca’s boyfriend Jesse who was HIV-positive. That was unusual at the time to have a show that incorporated those kinds of issues, as well as having a major character with Down syndrome.
Chad Lowe, the actor who played Jesse McKenna, won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1993 for his work in the series.
Actually that AIDS plot sounds like an episode of 21 Jump Street from the same era. You may be confusing the two shows.
@@Nerval-kg9sm no that plot is correct for this show. Jessie got aids and everyone freaked out
Favorite part: BEEP, BEEP, BEEP! WHACK!! Patti had to stop the alarm like a boss.
Very groundbreaking for its time.
First show with a protagonist with Down syndrome.
Yes it was.
I always felt so d@mn sorry for that dog.
I loved this show so much
I barely remember this, just remember corky burning a house or restaurant down. The intro music made me sad cuz it was almost time to go to bed for school the next day.
I had forgotten about that too. I do remember thinking they made a bad choice in implying this is what having a downs kid is like. I don't think I made it through the episode. Tragedy overdone like the last years of Little House on the Prairie.
This song instantly brought back the Sunday night anxiety I felt every week....
Amen! I had the faintest recollection of this show from when I was a kindergartener or first grader... one of those memories where you aren’t positive if it was actually real or something your brain made up or pieced together from long loooong term memory to fuck with you! I thought I remembered the title card shot from the intro and that poor dog! Apparently little me loved animals too, and the shot of the pup with his empty food bowl wasn’t funny to me...
But aside from that pointless prologue, my first sensation was “school night!! =-(“
So I guess my brain DID record this for a reason Hahaha... to make sure I always have an association for “the weekend is over =-(“ sentiment...
I remember this. Such a long time ago
Thanks for sharing! One of my favorite shows that had heart, sensitivity and humor. I especially love the theme song with the cast singing along #lifegoeson
Agreed! It's one of my favorite shows ever, for those reasons.
Haven’t seen this since I originally saw it on television back in the day, but I always remembered the intro to the show and the song that played. 😂
Whenever i hear this original song, i remember my sister watching some tv-show where in the intro a girl walk to a fridgerator. This memory is about 30years old. Now i finally found this intro !
Don’t know why I started singing the theme to this song and yell sang the “hey” and the end … loved this show
Why not yell sing it? That's what they did. Glad you loved the show. Means you have good taste. : )
Back in the 90's, I remember Tuesday nights at around 8pm in my country - Family Matters and then Life Goes On. Really loved those shows.
Yes! TV was much more simple and innocent then. There were less channels and maybe only a handful of shows to consider must-see. The days when we all tended to watch the same shows last night-- are pretty much over.
moment when the world still beautiful....
It still is. We just have to look harder. Though I miss those times so much.
The beauty is still there...It's just that there's a lot of ugly trying to block the view.
I was 7 when this show premiered and I had no idea Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da was a Beatles song. For many years after I just thought it was a theme song written for the show.
Sure, if you hadn't heard the Beatles song yet. They really don't play it very often.
I was 22 or 23 when the pilot aired. I remember liking it ,but I don't remember much it's been a long time. I thought I would give it a watch again wow how life goes on I'm 49 years old now.
You should get the DVDs and see what you think of the show through today's eyes. You can find Season 1 on eBay. Beyond that, it basically has vanished.
The showed aired in 1989. You were younger than 22/23.
Love the theme very catchy song 🎧! Life Goes On was a very good teeny bopper series for the time. To this day a classic. There’s no TV shows like Life Goes On anymore:(
I agree, it was a great show, and they just don't make wholesome family entertainment anymore. One of many things that have changed since the 80s that don't make sense.
I finally found this song from a remnant of my childhood.
Oh man, why can't life be this simple again?
Why oh why
If it helps, in 30 years, now will be considered a simple life.
@@mascarademermelada8746 sad but true because it feels like this is already way harder life than 20-30 years ago because it is

Love this song. It makes me happy 😊
I love this show but the sad thing is I didn't watch it when it originally aired in the 1990's. What I do remember is a character named Becca sitting in front of her mirror and putting on her glasses, and the mom in the show, Libby played by Patti LuPone, (whom I recently discovered is nuts) outside in the front yard after just finding out she's pregnant at 40 years of age. But now after seeing the show in it's entirety, I know it's much more than that. It's a groundbreaking and phenomenal show that was very underrated and didn't get the love it deserves. I have a special place in my heart for Chris Burke, God Bless him.

This show meant a lot to my mom and I growing up.
It's one of my all time favorites. TV was branching out in new ways at the time. Good ideas, good writing, new technologies-- and it was at a time when wholesomeness was still an important part of the entertainment landscape. We peaked in many ways in the mid 80s to mid 90s.
@@sterlingsubs i agree that we peaked. Music of every genre and even films of every genre were greater in the 90s. I admit that TV got better but only because it became more cinematic and took away a lot of what a film had to offer.
People have everything these days and appreciate none of it.

My heart breaks at the casual cruelty of not feeding the poor dog. God Bless You, Arnold.

I always keep my baby girl boarder collie clean and groomed..
I keep the house clean and warm in the winter for her and air conditioned in the summer for her...
She has a nice highly cushioned orthopedic doggie bed and she loves it..

They got so much hate mail for that scene. In the last episode, a bag of dog food spills open from a nearby cabinet, giving Arnold a chance to have his breakfast after four years.

Exactly! Good point. We rolled pretty simply in the 80s. Critics were fewer and less vocal then. Consider the awful synthesizer music in so many 80s movies, even big ones.

I remember watching reruns of this show back in the mid or maybe it was the late 90's. :) Just hearing this intro has unlocked a long forgotten memory.
So weird I remember the song being slightly different, a little more instrumental and faster paced and a singular woman singing rather than a group of people. I guess that was just a Mandela effect
I so miss life goes on. I’m getting the dvds.
That was such a good show. Wish they would stream it
I've never seen it available to stream anywhere! Only season 1 is available on DVD on eBay. I think I read there's copyright issues with a lot of the commercial music played throughout the series. It's a shame. I've been looking for remaining seasons a long time.
This show needs to be in reruns or at least be released on dvd beyond season 1. Nothing against waltons and little house but why r they on several channels? And life goes on is part of lost television 📺 😕 🙃
I agree completely. I did hear that there are some licensing complications due to commercial music in later seasons. Not sure the full truth is able to be found. But wholesome shows with wholesome messages often seem to go by the wayside, in favor of the unwholesome stuff taking precedent.

It was the first time Down Syndrome was depicted. It broke new ground. Ironically, the entire industry lost interest in helping raise awareness and respect for this group. The handicapped, the old, the unattractive... have no one sounding alarms when they are disrespected. There's no political gain in it.

The shows you mention have great writing, editing, special effects etc... but don't promote much love, honor, respect etc. We older folks grew up in an era where love, kindness, and trust in neighbors was the norm. TV was much more simple, less commercial, and trustworthy. We hung with friends and neighbors more, and TV was just more of a filler of extra time. It wasn't brilliant like now, but we didn't mind.
