  • The ZX Spectrum Plus tends to get overlooked, with either the original 48k or the +2/+3 machines getting most of the lime light.
So lets take a tour around my ZX Spectrum plus to see what it offered.
As well as checking out a few of the upgrades that I've done.

Quite surprised they were doing Spectrums in auctions in 1991, I thought it would have more likely been a car boot sale jobbie, like how I got mine :D

I love the old rubber key Spectrum because it was my first home computer & because I played on it with my late father, I love my +2 because of it’s increased capabilities, it’s all in 1 solution & the fact it still works but aesthetically I just love the look of the Plus, it is by far the most aesthetically pleasing to me personally.

I've had one of these since about 2012 when I was given it from a university I was on work experience at. Sat in the box for many years until last summer when I started on it. New keyboard membrane, bit of a clean and a composite mod. Not played anything on it yet, good to see a nice overview for the uninitiated

I got this version of the spectrum for chirstmas one year, on boxing day it caught fire and slightly burnt my Mums carpet. Just after new year it was replaced by the less flammable Acorn electron.

I had a Speccy + back in the day --- the keyboard membrane snapped, but by then I had an Amiga.

I've often thought about getting a Spectrum but my main nostalgia it with Commodore machines. A VIC20 could be nice but even that's not a high priority. I'd need more space! ;)

I find it amazing how close the Spectrum + looks to a 128K in presentation. 👀👀

Did a HARLEQUIN 128K REV 2D in my ZX Spectrum Plus case and a new membrane. Use the ZX-HD and the DivMMC Enjoy! Pro One with it.

Interesting about the failure rate. I wonder what the problem was? Lovely bit of kit you have there!

hi. Nice friendly video. EXcuse my ignorance.I really am totally Non Techy. I'm trying to identify the model of my own zx spectrum plus. It looks exactly the same as the longer one you show in your great video, apart from the view from the rear. You have a 5 pin din socket for tv. Mine has a socket like a Phono insert, (it takes a central pin, and the inserted lead then also has 4 "leaves" that grip to the outside of the socket.) Is that the bit you refer to having replaced yourself, to "up" the picture quality? I know you explained it but I am dumb and dont understand the terminolgy you used) If it IS that component then I am sure mine is the same model as yours. If you also know what specific model number /version it is (mine also has pop out feet and reset button) Id really appreciate it, as I want to research the value of it. I'm planning to sell it, along with 35 original games I still have from the 1980's (!) I suppose the games are another jungle of values; maybe some more collectable than others but as I say I am ignorant of all that. If you have any contact links to game places due to your own interest in "the speccy" I'd appreciate if you could post a couple in reply. Sorry to be so Needy, as opposed to Nerdy! :) It would be kind of you, and much appreciated. Steve
