I reckon that's the nicest Dinky Trojan van I've ever seen Nick, it looks fantastic. Going back to your purchases, I think that 8 wheeler Scammell crane is well worth saving. Really enjoyed this combo video, thanks for sharing it with us, and looking forward to your next one. All the best. Peter.
Thank you Peter, I have another couple of those Scammell cranes, one I had as a kid so I might do a triple restoration with them🤔👍😊 All the best, Nick 🐸🐸🐸
Scammell overload, Nick: looks like a fleet, all in the same livery, and a diorama to sit them on! I wouldn’t, but it would work… Tebay Services? Couple of wreckers and the tipper converted to a flatbed? Purple one shortened to a 4x2 with a recovery dolly? Or a really long load unit - bridge girder? - with the dolly remotely fitted and some cables to link them? The Trojans are really good starter units, as I have said before, and lend themselves to ANY livery you fancy! They are such good castings that they are difficult to get wrong! I’ve done one Code3, in orange: I’d be happy to do a shelf of them! I’d have done the decals no differently to how you’ve done the Brooke Bond Tea - the motor looks great. Nice one. I’ll look for more in case I have another wee Code 3 moment!
Scammell overload alright lol, with all that lot plus a few others I have accumulated over the last couple of years the possibilities for code 3’s are going to be pretty endless. The Trojan is a nice little model shame about the casting line by the head lights, I rather messed that up a bit on this one but you live and learn, I wouldn’t mind doing the whole set of those as dinky did them and maybe a couple more with some local to Jersey liveries on them! All the best, Nick🐸🐸🐸
If I get browning on old truck livery i tend to cut around the letters and try and get rid of the carrier film as much as I can.we all I suppose do things differently I always leave the decals until the very last job unlike when I watch you and martin who do the decals then assembly.
That’s a good idea, I never thought of that. I do sometimes put the decals on at the end but only when I don’t lacquer over them, all depending on the decals, I’ve had some in the past that have gone all wrinkled when I’ve lacquered them, but when I do lacquer them to seal them I put them on before assembly for obvious reasons👍😊 All the best, Nick🐸🐸🐸
Not a bad purchase,Nick. Those wheels are a bit off,I know. But can be swapped out for the older style like on one of those Scammell wreckers!Didn't Matchbox do a Trojan in Brooke bond livery?
Cheers Terry, I think there will have to be a bit of wheel swapping when I get around to doing these lol! I’m not sure if Matchbox did a Trojan van or not, I’ll have to have a look on google, might be nice to have the little and large in the cabinet😊👍 All the best, Nick🐸🐸🐸
That little Trojan van turned out great Nick, superb result. Gotta love the jewelled headlamps too - something I often fit as well!
Thank you Richard, I think I am addicted to jeweled head lights lol! All the best, Nick🐸🐸🐸
