What's next on the LIST....The Sith List is getting ready to delve into the much-awaited Marvel's Xmen '97 series. We're watching Episode 5 for the first time, "Remember It"
Remember It" explores the X-Men's efforts as Genosha prepares to join the UN, with specific team members embarking on a trip to the island nation for diplomatic recognition. Yet, tensions escalate when a clandestine press event at the mansion jeopardizes the secrecy of the X-Men.
They're Back and so is our childhood, we can't wait to see what Wolverine and the crew have in store for us.
“Storm and Wolverine try to continue the X-Men. Magneto comes in and wants to step up for Charles Xavier. Sinister comes in to try to end the X-Men once and for all.”

In chess, a gambit is a sacrifice to gain an advantage usually to protect and advance the queen. In this case Gambit made the ultimate sacrifice. A very poetic symbolism. A bittersweet moment. That is why this episode for me cuts deep and now you know why he is my favorite X-Men and even my favorite Marvel character of all time.
Episode 5 for me was like watching a standalone full feature film . It's beautiful .

magneto groomed the hell out of rogue from a young age, mentor role check, old man vs impressionable girl check....using his position as the only person who can touch her check
Its 1997. I believe it was the head writer who said this genocide at genosha is meant to be this universes 9/11. Nothing will be the same after this. The innocence of past is gone.

I love seeing the guy on the right have an internal monologue, like when he realizes it’s Madelyn Pryor with Scott, and he knows what part of the comics they’re “doing,” and then realizes the nod to that moment when Emma makes a remark to Maddy…
Gambit was literally engaged in the og series. People tripping on Rogue need to actually go back and watch the show or stop tryna slutshame her. Remy was messy as hell, leading Rogue on knowing he had Bella crazy ass waiting in New Orleans.
She chooses Remy at the end when she said it is more than skin to Magneto but sadly never got to tell Remy as all hell broke loose
LOL. People need to stop trying to use slut shaming unironically and stop trying to make that a thing and just go back to saying she or he a ho like the good ole days.

Remy, Rogue *and* Eric are all players and they accept the game. Sometimes you get hurt and sometimes you get lucky. None of them put that above duty, loyalty or their other priorities.
Case in point, when it becomes time to fight and save mutants, you see Remy and Magneto fight side by side in perfect synch. You see Eric protect not just Rogue but also Gambit.
So anyway, that kind of mindset should probably be taken in consideration when judging these characters
@@androkguzexactly, they have their disagreements and conflicts of interest, but at the end of the day they are still a family and protect each other.

It’s talking about people living happily together in peace, working in co-operation and the greater good (the promise of Genosha and mutant acceptance) but referencing that people in the past that have wanted to rule the world and subjugate others (dictators like Hitler) and though these individuals die, their ideas don’t (humans want to eradicate mutants).
And the finishing touch is that in the song, “we’re travelling through time” is whispered - fitting for Cable to make an appearance.
The storyline is E for Extinction.
Rogue has been and always will be my Favorite X-man, X-Woman, lol. But I swore she figured out her inability to touch others in the Original Series, love her, but she needs to see there is far more to intimacy then just the physical! I Can't think of a time Gambit didn't think or her first!
Did you notice the Watcher watching in the sky during the fireworks after Gambit broke up with Rogue?

Folks were hating HARD on Beau Demayo for being gay.
Major props to BEAU DEMAYO's brilliant writing of this X-men 97 eps 1-5 so far.

The hypocrisy that folks are hating on Magneto/ Rogue pairing due to age gap but they WANT Wolverine with Jean yet Wolverine is several decades OLDER than Magneto.
Make it make sense😂
NOTE: I am not pro- Rogue/Magneto relationship but that hyper-hypocrisy is astounding to say the least.

Kinda feeling like the MCU is getting us ready for their live action version of the X-Men after episode 5.😳😳
If you missed it at the very beginning of the festival near the fireworks you can briefly see the Watcher, the original story Cyclops developed a psychic bond with Emma Frost and the assault was from the story arc Mutant extinction.
We didn’t miss it, but we definitely caught it afterwards. How crazy was that, I wonder what the significance is going to be?
I don't think Cassandra Nova is gonna show up here, she doesn't work without Xavier... but it may be Bastion that's the culprit here. Anyways, nice watch and stay well!

At least before she was killed, Maddie’s last moments were realising that the son she lost to the future and an incurable virus survived and she got to meet him again.
I think all the dead mutants will stay dead. I’ve been getting hints since episode one that they will eventually adapt Hickman’s Krakoa arc, and then they’ll resurrect the fallen mutants. It was a big deal that Jean campaigned to have Madelyn resurrected despite the rules of resurrection stating no duplicates of a mutant may be brought back. So I think they’ll cover that.
I also see the episodes reference the Phoenix a lot. And I believe that the Phoenix will return sooner rather than later. But for _Scott._ Not Jean.
They showed captain Americas shield in preview so they might introduce the avengers in next episode called war

You’re the first channel that figured out that was not Jean. I figured that out as well.
Magneto is more than likely alive as Leech’s ability is to suppress over mutants powers . So he probably suppressed Magneto’s and to that centennial he showed no power .
As for Gambit he will come back one of two ways . Either Cable and time traveling shenanigans or Apocalypse will rez him as one of his four horsemen, probably Gambit will become Death. So he will be bad for a bit and need to be turned back like Angel
I've read multiple people pushing the "Leech theory", and I could get on board if they were trying to hide from the Sentinel; but as is - how are they supposed to have survived that giga-blast if Leech drains Magneto and his shield drops???

I'd argue that X-Men is INCREDIBLY campy. For example, the Hellfire Club is a bunch of Victorian BDSM-capitalists, lol, like it's ridiculous and soapy, and earnest and that SHOULD be highlighted in every adaptation. But the MCU (as it is now), is too self-aware and sarcastic to do that justice in my opinion. And, to be honest, between this and Spider-verse I don't need live-action supe flicks at this point. The definitive adaptations of comics SHOULD be in animation. Periodt.

I agree that there is a level of camp to the X-Men. I also agree that animation is probably the best way to go. But we know love action is where the bread is gonna buttered. And that is a test in itself to bring it to life through the Disney/Marvel lense.
Marvel didn't start doing that until Phase 4 - plus that works with some characters like Deadpool, who you already know is an X-Men character. They just need the right writers and considering that this is an MCU (Marvel Studios) project, they're already in the same room as the Marvel bigwigs. I need to see this in live action done right.
The original cartoon was _incredibly_ camp.
97 is far less camp by comparison, but there are still some elements of it. Which makes sense - X-Men is basically a supernatural soap-opera, after all.
Or just let these writers do the live action . They can make a live action super hero soap opera

No.
Nope, in the comics millions of mutants die and it remains as a collective trauma for the remaining mutant population, some being impacted very heavily by it. It is the mutants 9/11, it can't be fixed.
ive been playing with ai generated images of xmen characters, i can imagine "live" action would be ai created so we have good realistic art representation, use voice ai to sync with facial expressions. i havent played with video ai but its about get real out here.

Why does Rogue and Magneto feel like sexual manipulation. Yuck. Yes it’s canon in the comics, but he is basically old enough to be her grandfather.And definitely not the stance to take as Professors Xs replacement.
Rogue is an adult.
And in the Ultimate comics, Gambit is more than twice Rogue’s age.
Wolverine is old enough to be Jean’s great-great-great grandfather.
People are shaming Rogue because she wants the most understandable, most basic human experience, which is touch. Considering she can kill people by touching them, can you imagine the loneliness and longing? And Magneto is able to touch her.
People forget that X-Men is a supernatural soap opera. It’s _supposed_ to play out like one. So love stories are a central part of this.
Rogue is an adult. As are Jean and Magneto.
If you want to be concerned about anyone, be concerned about Xavier, who was perving on Jean Grey when she was a minor.
As time goes on in the X-Men, the more you realise that while not a villain, Xavier is actually perhaps the biggest antagonist in the show. He’s a terrible person. Deeply selfish, megalomaniacal and narcissistic.
