This is a beautiful full-circle moment because Drew Brees is the main QB that CJ Stroud grew up emulating. CJ used to watch videos of Drew Brees on RUclips to mimic his footwork, delivery, anticipation, and poise. Now, Drew Brees is on RUclips breaking down CJ Stroud 🥲
I think it was 2019 or 2020, but I looked at all 32 starting QBs in the NFL and tried to see how many were on record as having a QB they really looked up to while they were growing up. Brees had the most, it was at least 5-6. Dak and Burrow are two I remember off the top of my head.

Coaches already trusting CJ to adjust the routes. On that throw to Noah Brown, CJ asked him to adjust the route. Linebackers were settling at a certain depth, he asked Noah to be shallower.

The defense is easily read, cover 4 quarters. The dbs defend the deep ball, the lbs are defending the goal line. CJ reads this as soon as the defense is set. He moves the safety with his eyes watching brown as he breaks and resets hitting an anticipation pass to Dell over the top. CJ is getting the ball into the end zone to either Brown as he nears the goal line, or Dell when the safety commits to the inside move. Great play call by Slowik in the situation, perfect execution by the offense.

The most impressive thing besides his ability to read the field that compliments that really well is how lightening fast his release is. He’s able to make a decision and basically get rid of the ball immediately with no windup. He throws lasers and is pinpoint accurate. That’s so hard to stop as a defense. Not a Texans fan but his playstyle, professionalism and talent has made me such a huge fan of this team.

When I heard Drew Brees made a RUclips channel I knew I had to check it out, very informative breakdown of an excellent drive by one of my favorite young QBs by my favorite QB of all time, and I’m super excited to see more content from him in the future!

Stroud has received a lot of well deserved praise and attention for how his play right outta the gate as a rookie. It has been impressive. The thing I haven't heard receive much discussion or recognition is this patch work O Line. 2nd, 3rd and even 4th stringers are truly blowing me away. In yrs prior, the Texans have had fully healthy starters on the line and have been porous butter like garbage. Idk if it's the play calls that put the line and Stroud in more successful situations or the O Line coach or what it is. But it's truly amazing that Stroud is able to stand back there un harrassed for so many snaps/drop backs considering the injuries and constant shuffling of linemen.
Honestly Drew you deserve 2 more Super Bowl wins under your belt. You got cheated out of them and I want to let you know that you’re a top 5 quarter back of all time hands down. I was just a kid watching you and Reggie. Man I miss watching you play. I love you bro
