My copy just arrived today. Reads as a really nice set of rules.
Great video, both forces look fantastic.
Hobgobliiiin!! I just backed my copy yesterday -only 59 hours left for you stragglers! ⏳
Eeeeeexcellent ...

We do indeed!
Aww, thanks Danielhya, it's a pleasure just to be able share our fun -especially as Peter does all the hard work ;)
Can't wait to get this game on the table! Great first game guys!
Thanks - we'll be playing it a lot more, m that's for sure.
Great battle report! Lots of other batreps a really slow and tense while you guys look like you had a ball!
Check out my other battle reports - I play games to have fun, not for competition; I think you'll find them entertaining. 😆
I missed the Kickstarter by a few hours! Looks great.
Get in contact, I'm sure they'll let you late pledge.
Woot, HB blew past its goals to reach $75k! Congrats Mike, as well as Gregory at Elicti Studios - cant wait to get my copy in my hot, sweaty hands!
Our work here is done Andy. 👏

I was thinking of using AOS models for Hobgoblin and really like your movement tray solution. Could you point me in the direction of where to get them or how you made them? Thank you!
I made them from scratch - I cut out pieces from thin stainless steel sheet (deep scoring with a heavy duty craft knife then bending and breaking on the edge of a table), then super-glued them to 4mm thick MDF. I then primed the metal side black, and with a big old brush, painted on blotches of several shades of olive green to match my battle mat. Voila!
Also, there are quite a few manufacturers already producing MDF trays for 25mm and 32mm bases to slot into if you want a fast, pre-made solution 👍
I using lasercut MDF ones. Search for “conversion trays” or “regiment trays”. Likto sell them in the US, or Warbases or Sarissa in the UK.
But they don't have that magnetic goodness!
I love your battle reports there just fun first but still teaching the game
That's what I like to hear! 😃
Just backed the Kickstarter based on this epic play through. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. What are the Doom tokens you’re using, please, and where can I buy some? Thanks again.
They're the metal coins upgrade from the Oathsworn: Into the Deepwood game. But any metal fantasy coins would do I guess.
So square unit trays are required? Are the sizes set?
There are size ranges for the several different types of unit trays, but lots of freedom.
I’m guessing the answer is no, since the rules aren’t meant to be shared, but will you be doing a rules summary for this game? For being a relatively simple game, I haven been able to get it all figured out yet.
Also, happy new year Peter!
You're correct - in this case the product is the rules, so no free spoilers. HNY!
Wish I was at a better place to back it right now, this stuff sounds awesome
I hope things improve soon Joshua, it's been a tough few years for everyone, that's for sure.
@@EsotericOrderGamers soon! I am gathering a list of things to grab when I can, this is pretty close to the top of that list!
Backed ❤
A man of taste!
One of us, one of us!! :D
Yeah, I’m gonna need you to make at least another 2-300 of these videos please.
*sweating intensifies* 😅 glad you enjoyed, my man!
Here's about 100 other battle reports. That should keep you busy! www.orderofgamers.com/?s=battle+report
Not being able to reform units during the game is a bit odd. Even the 1998 Clan War and old Warhammer allows it. So does Conquest, a modern rank and flanker you all like.
Personally, as fixes go, I think it'd be a simple contender for house-ruling.
It might be something that Mike left out given the agnostic nature of basing systems for this game - it could potentially disadvantage folks who have fixed multi-bases, rather than flexible movement trays... 🤔
The thing that frustrates me about Conquest is the complexity, so I'm quite happy to see the ability to reform units go out the window. This isn't big ponderous units undergoing drawn-out tactical battles, this is masses of units engaged in brutal conflict! You have a lot of flexibility in the unit tray size you pick, so the tray reflects the mobility of the unit - and its combat frontage too, of course.
YAAAAAAAAS!!!!! BATTLLLEEEE REPOOOOOORRRT!!!!
WHOOOOOOOOOTTTTT!!!!!!
Have you guys tried out One Page Rules?
No, I'm not really interested in 'generic' rules, I prefer systems that are designed for a particular type of game and experience.
Myself, I've only tried their skirmish fantasy system, which was a fast, fun and light experience - I don't feel that it would have the depth and nuance to be my go-to "system of choice", but it's nice to know that it's on option for friends that are on the fence about wargaming...
When the king rolled 13 dice against the enemy general, shouldnt 3 dice be allocated to the monsterous infantry behind him? (And since the general was a hero, he has more than 10 courage?)
Really enjoyed watching you playing!
It's been a while now and I'd have to re-check the rules - but it was our first game and I'm sure we made mistakes!
@@EsotericOrderGamers the rules might also have been updated since your game :)
(No idea, though)
@@omerZauber I guess we'll all know for certain when the final rules are released. 😃
That looks intresting. As i do enjoy Gaslands.
Go check it out!
Wow, there are certainly a lot of interesting mechanics with this rules set. However, I'm not sold on the rock-paper-scissors aspect to combat.
Kia ora Shane, that's a fair reservation to have, and before this game I wasnt certain myself how deterministic the 'order' of the units would make combat resolution with one another.
Fundamentally, the whole Loose/Close/Free system only swings hits from a potential 3+ to a 5+, with 1's always hitting regardless. This also doesn't take into account special rules, strengths / weaknesses, etc that particular units have. At the end of the day, I see the rule as encouraging players to bring a balance of unit types rather than spamming just one unit type.
But don't take my word for it, try the quick start rules yourself and let us know how you find it!
You two seem like nice blokes 😊
Awww!! 🥺🥲 gamers are just the best, aren't they?
It's all an act - we're both absolutely horrible people in person. 🤣
It's the deceptively cheerful intonation of the lads from Down Under.
NZ isn't usually referred to as Down Under, but we can be nice and consider Andy an honorary Aussie for the purposes of this comment. 😆
