Yes sir! This is everything. This is what mr Hogan emphasized throughout his beautiful Five Lessons book published almost a century ago. Like Jonathan indicated here, Hogan said from the top the primary move is Not with the arms at all, but rather the hips. He said that move with hips shown here in essence *delivers* the arms to the proper place for his "magic elbow" and practically completes their entire voyage to impact. Was a major major lightbulb moment in my golf journey!
I tried this in my home studio (garage) :) and yes, it works! I increased club head speed by around 5mph and hit the ball further than I had ever done before. It takes a few shots to start to get it, but it does work. Thanks a million. I will keep working on this to try to hone the feeling more.
O....M.....and, dare I say it, .... G.......this only flippin' works. Tried it today - amazing. Kept hitting through the green, I was hitting so far. Thanks fella!
i had a question about one of your videos from several months ago, but thought i'd be more likely to get a response on a more recent video and this one just popped up haha. i was curious about moving the lead hip back in downswing, does it feel almost like you're stretching your hamstring? like the classic stand up straight and keep the knees straight and stretch to your toes? that's how i'm interpreting what my right hip should feel (lefty) but not sure if i'm on the right track. anyways love the videos brother, thank you for putting these up!
I’ve personally never felt a hamstring stretch pushing the lead hip back. With the continuation of pushing the lead back I could understand a hamstring stretch being possible as the lead leg will extend/straighten which could cause a hamstring stretch, but any earlier most likely not. Might be you have very tight hamstrings. Great to hear you’re enjoying the videos!
@@jchowngolf i got the answer i was hoping i wouldn't get haha, i have always suspected my hamstrings are too tight for some of these movements. thank you for the feedback!
Hi Jay on the backswing when hands are high is that for all clubs also when hands are high should they be behind the right shoulder or where with respect to the right shoulder kindly advise thanks for your help Jack
My swing thought which i think delays the arms and has the hips leading is keeping my back to the target on the downswing while my hands drop and lead knee opens and hips are parrallel to the target line and then my trail hand kicks in to shake hands with the target or at least parrallel to it has i try to keep my hands close to my body. Does this resonate with you as well to accomplish the same thing? My follow through has my lead chest, automatically turning toward the sky just like on the backswing which puts less tension on the lower back. If i think of the hips first i may have a more violent clearing of the leadhip resulting in lower back pain.
Good vid, I watched Knaap’s win on TV a week back but I also noticed he seemed to have muscles on muscles in his fore and upper arms, I’m sure that helps. I guess they are all gym bunnies these days !!!
This is not a fair video because this guy is a specimen, he is ripped, young guys who work out and stay flexible make for great golfers, only slant on this guy is , mullet???

I started working on this about 2 weeks ago, so far I’ve gained around 3-5mph consistent with no other effort change. 👍
Awesome!
Reminds me of Jamie Sadlowski’s swing from the top of the backswing to the end of transition.
Absolutely, very similar!

Best analysis of his swing!
Glad to hear!
I’ve been watching this guy. He seems to swing so easy.
Fantastic swing analysis 🧐
Looks like your actually siting as you level your hips JC. Good session._russ

i,ve been using a rolled up towel with tape around it a lot cheaper.
The towel drill will be great for the lower body separation although it won’t target the wide to narrow.

I like just behind the right shoulder whilst being as high as you can muster 👍🏼
Set up and grip is a big part of why he’s so fast

Hi. Does this lesson apply to all other clubs in the bag?

Muscles on muscles help immensely! In 3 months of hard manual labor my drives were 25-30 yds farther!
@@nicholasdemetriades9154 unfortunately I have arms like spaghetti but they are long so at least I have the leverage as an advantage 😂
Can you show us left-handed? ;)
🙂👍
Thanks bud!
This is really not a swing to copy for 99.9% of people
Exactly
Harvey Penick wins again…
