    Being of a small built and a woman i think all 3 factors are important but working on greater torque with a pivot has given me quick results. I am starting to play in the mid to low 80s more regularly. You put a lot of thought into your content by its simplicity. Thank you again steve.

    Steve, two of these three are pretty straight forward for me to feel. The adding club head speed by applying more torque to the handle is the tricky one. I know it is not a pulling action but a throwing action. It is that term of Throwing but not Pushing that is a feel I need to distinguish. I guess I just have to start actually throwing a club in a field like your last video shows to get the true feeling of this.

    • @jackbisson9226

      After watching this video a few times, I think I am hearing you say the throwing action peak takes place before you get to impact and by the time you get to impact you are sailing through at high speed?

    Hi Steve, I just started watching your videos and I am impressed, both with your results and your efforts, thanks for being out there. I'm a 72-year-old on social security (limited funds) and I'd like your advice as to which of the speed training AIDS you think would help me the most in my initial challenge to my speed barriers. With this covid I've been sitting in my reclining chair adding covid weight and I just got back into golf after a year and a half of no exercise. I'm ready now and I joined the saticoy regional monthly pass going to the range and trying to find a new game for an older man. Initially, I took the cart all the time but now I'm walking as my legs are strengthening and I'm carrying my bag...I finally made it up to 18 holes and now I'm ready to take the next step.
    By the way I've already recommended your videos to a young man at the golf course who I think could benefit tremendously from your skills. Hopefully you guys could get together and work something out I think you could really help him.
    Thanks again, looking forward to the next video and the next round.

    Some said club head speed can be increased by adding more coil of the sternum plus a forward glide of the hips while diving down the trailing shoulder to impact simultaneous with leg posting to the ground which will increase the club head centrifugal force resulting to increased club head speed...

    I think all three will add distance if you’re swinging on the right plane. I just discovered that in my backswing I was having trouble seeing the ball and when I recorded my swing full on I could see my face. Once I dropped my left shoulder down under my chin and stretched the grip out and back I went from 92 to 97 to 99 to 106 depending. I know there’s more there too. But what I’m saying if you’re swinging around really upright instead of down and under your chin it’s going to be hard to gain any kind of distance because trust me I tried for the last two yrs and just couldn’t. But finally now I feel like some of these things you talk about might work for me.

    There is a missing prerequisite to these things (for a novice): swing center.
    Going Jon Daly will lead to spin-out of the body. Throwing the club head leads to casting, poor tempo, and loss of impact precision. Both raising the center, which subtracts the body. It's better to develop conservation of angular momentum and replace arm effort with body timing. This is where biggest step changes in club head speed occurs.

    Nice video, I notice that you allow your left heel to come off the ground to allow you to really increase your backswing length. I would also suggest that there is one more way to increase your club head speed. A proper fitting would insure that you are using the right loft, shaft flex and shaft length to maximise your clubhead speed. Spin rate, launch angle and smash factor all will be determined during a fitting. It may not be the golfer it may be the equipment that is preventing an increase in club head speed. In my recent fitting I was able to increase my swing speed by 3 mph and ball speed by 4 mph. It resulted in an additional 10 - 12 yards with my driver.

    • @Inmotion70
      @Inmotion70  3 года назад +1

      I think fittings can be helpful for some. I also think they can be way way overpriced.

    • @randywolf4731
      @randywolf4731 3 года назад +1

      Steve there is no doubt a lot of amateurs play with the wrong clubs. I live in Georgia and a proper fitting by a certified master fitter at the PGA Superstore is $49.00. If your viewers implement all three of your recommendations and have ill fitting equipment then their results will be very difficult to measure.

    • @Inmotion70
      @Inmotion70  3 года назад +1

      @@randywolf4731 We have studios out here that charge $500-1000 for a fitting, $500 for the driver, and $300 for the aftermarket shaft that they just fit you for.

    Steve - thanks for the great training. You say three baskets / families available to increase speed but you never mention the Mike Austin wrist / hand action in any of the baskets. In basket two, you state that we must apply more throw / force /torque to handle of club in order to speed up the club head and you say that the force / torque peaks / bursts prior to hitting the ball and that there is almost zero force / torque remaining when the club impacts the ball and we reach a free hinging of the club head. So when do we apply the Mike Austin flap and is that a separate move from the throw?

  • @sandwah9901
    @sandwah9901 Год назад

    How about training yourself to swing faster, and however I do that, is correct for me. I've gone from 99MPH on my driver to 118MPH in 3 months of ONLY trying to swing the entire club as fast as I can through the impact zone, using a golf speed radar. Every day I try to gain 1MPH if I can, and then continue to build on that. And I have found that my mind is the governor of my speed, not my body or swing type, and that if you believe that you can swing faster, which is reinforced by continual speed increases, you break through that wall. In the end, we simply have a ball and a stick, and your job, however you do it, is to get faster, and how I did it is correct for ME.

    I think my biggest issue is I’m not generating a big enough burst of torque. I’m really flexible so I don’t have issues in the pull back (when I was younger and more flexible I would touch my front knee cocking back so much) and follow through is just part of the form I have for my swing. I only hit it about 200-230 yards so I suspect my club head speed isn’t traveling fast enough

  • @vantumpete
    @vantumpete 2 года назад +2

    Are you ignoring the use of ground force to add speed ?

  • @1DCCX
    @1DCCX 2 года назад

    Fundamentally the overwhelming majority of clubhead speed comes from a relatively short *impulse* of muscular force, from the hands and arms applying an external force to the clubhead, via the club.
    Everything else is about managing the face path relationship, timing of an individual’s acceleration profile, efficiency, kinaesthetic awareness, stimulus response, anatomy and physiology.
    You wouldn’t spin the earth to make the satellite go faster, it is orders of magnitude more efficient to apply an external force to the satellite; yet ‘rotational’ swing teachers suggest this is how clubhead speed is generated. rotational swings round a tight pivot axis (tight to a degree, as the clubface shears across the functional swing plane with too short a radius) have a purpose from certain individual’s perception of where the clubface is, but even the tightest spinner like Ben Hogan had to apply an enormous amount of muscular force to the clubhead. Rotational swings are more purposeful in terms of controlling mental stress under the perception of being in a moment when you are undertaking an activity to which you have attached very high importance.
    Increasing effective clubhead mass is the other concern of the golfer, and there is also a trade off here between which element is easier or better for an individual to focus on.
    But ultimately you are right to discuss the throw, as paramount.
