That is a great design. I would encourage a couple of different features. One: put some oversized casters for better movement in carpeted rooms. Two: run some 1x2 posts up both sides of each wall, 2" side against the walls, with a beam attached to the posts. Not where the deck connects to the Flagg walls. But flush with the walls and beams will eliminate the dip that occurs in the Flagg deck. The deck will be level. That's my idea. I had already made a table for my friends Flagg. We added a platform with 6 large casters and the table already had a shelf across it. The platform created another shelf and mobility.
Way ahead of you bro. Gonna start shaping a fiberglass hull that the whole toy will slot into and then push her into the ocean! Only on GI Joburg. And also I am joking.
Heh. I’ve always marveled at how many people have taken up the idea, improved on it even. It always seemed obvious to me to want the ship to be taller and more mobile. Thanks for the comment!
+David Tagilala Fine! Rub it in! Bloody All Blacks leaving the rest of us in the dust! But thanks for the praise. Being compared to Kevin is high praise indeed.

+Gothiczartan I'm sure you can ask! I know here in South Africa you can have boards cut to requirement but that would be straight line cuts. I did this with a hand saw and I don't think our guys do that kind of detail. Sorry I don't live nearby, I'd help you out!
I have a crude plan I can share if you reach out to me at arealsouthafricanhero@gmail.com but the best way to go about it is to set up your Flagg on your uncut board and do markups of the best lines to cut along.
@@gijoburg thank you for replying I was fortunate enough to get most of the pieces for the USS Flagg the other day for ridiculously cheap price and now I want to do the under setup like I see on alot of RUclips videos
At release in 1985 she was yours for 100 USD, by 1987 I reckon you might get it cheaper as stores no doubt wanted to move such a bulky item. The original hull was not designed to float. Or move even. But this custom hull has wheels. We later went on to build a floating hull for our Flagg. “The Flagg Sets Sail” is the video we made to document it.

Yeah man, with the review taking it’s sweet time, I had to plant my Flagg!
@@gijoburg I so need to get with it doing the exact same thing with my Flagg and defiant
I would love to get the dimensions from you (if you have them) on how to build the extension to the Flagg. It’s looks fantastic!
Hello! I'd be happy to share what I've got, shoot me a mail on arealsouthafricanhero@gmail.com

WoW! Do you have plan for the wood base section? Thanks in advance!

@@gijoburg thanks for the answer. I also love your video. I want to create the same wood base. Can you share the plan with me?
Sure can! Send me a DM at arealsouthafricanhero@gmail.com
It would of been great if you can make a instructions on how to make that to place a Flagg like that.
Forgive our modesty but it's no technical feat really! Check the full review and if you still have questions, mail us on arealsouthafricanhero@gmail.com
How long did it took to make that and how much did it cost to get them? I meant the parts to put the Flagg like that.
+Gothiczartan the wood cost around $40 and the cutting and painting took a weekend on and off. The paint was quick drying!
I wasn't really good with cutting. Can you have someone cut it for you like at Home Depot?
+Gothiczartan I'm sure you can ask! I know here in South Africa you can have boards cut to requirement but that would be straight line cuts. I did this with a hand saw and I don't think our guys do that kind of detail. Sorry I don't live nearby, I'd help you out!
Is there a site that offers dimensions for the wood base and supports? I would like to avoid building mine just to outline it.
I have a few images and figures that might be useful, PM me at arealsouthafricanhero@gmail.com
You dont get how big it is til you see a skystriker and dragonfly parked on deck.
It amazes me how big it is every time I set it up.
What is the size and angle measurements of the plywood base

Oh man :D I don't even have a uss flagg yet but I feel like building this hull just for wishful thinking :D
Why stop there? Just build the whole thing and use it as a coffee table when not in use!
GI Joburg man is tempting :D great job on the video man :D wonderful idea :D
Great work
Thank you! Such a logical upgrade, I reckon it was only a matter of time before someone did it.
Is there a detail video On how to raise it
A step-by-step how to? Try RetroBlasting. I did a much better job chronicling when I put the Flagg to sea! But you live and learn, right?
If you use 1x4 instead of 2x4 you can get a extra square foot of space
What's all that in metric!? Ha ha ha!
@@gijoburg honestly idk they don't sell lumber here in the state's in metric but all they are is 2x4 split down the middle
el mejor juguete en toda las historia
Does it float....and how much was it brand new in 1987

You can put it in water, sure! But it will sink to the bottom.
