- The Hawbush in Little Heath is on the fringe of Redbridge and remained an important focal point for the community for over 150 years.
Naturally a loss is felt by those who once frequented it, but some comfort can be taken from the fact that the building is recognisable as the pub it once was. The 387 bus was withdrawn after 24 years with the EL3 now taking on its route. - Развлечения
Happy New year to all fans of Ilford.
And a happy new year to you too @storm3698 - thanks for supporting Ilford Retro in 2023 (and before); wishing you a great 2024........
I just drove past it and your video notification came up! 😅
That is too spooky!
I remember when it was the 238 bus. I lived in Goodmayes lane and I drank in the pub in the 80s. It was more of a weekday boozer than your sat night one !
Interesting to hear that - it's always fascinating how pubs can lean in a certain direction based on their size, location and punters..... You're right about the 238; that stop seems to have had a plethora of services come and go.
This is unique
Definitely. And as far as I could tell it was the only Hawbush pub in the country.
... and now I know, it was neither the 150 nor the 167 - - instead it was the 387. If my understanding of the location is correct then this is often site of a (sometimes quite long) traffic queue to get to the A12 Eastern Avenue.
That's it! And you are spot on that the traffic here is dense and constant to get onto the A12. It made taking the comparison photo a bit of a job!
Before the 387, it was the 238 that terminated there.
@@jeffreykenny988 you're right about that!
@@IlfordRetro Not as dense as it was before the roundabout was replaced by traffic lights!
@@mikeuk4130ah yes, I can imagine!
