The Great Road, part of the ancient Pye Road between the City of London and Colchester, passes through Ilford. At the 7th milestone is the junction with Hainault Street, which wasn't originally given this name. Nor was a railway bridge part of it. This episode reveals some of its history and more recent residential development.
