  • Ford Thunderbird Town Landau Coupe 1 Owner 1980 5.0L V8 Video Review T-Bird 56K Original Miles www.1ownercarguy.com This is a very nice car. This is a 1 Owner car that only has 56K Original Miles on it. It has the 5.0L V8 engine which runs strong. This car is clean as can be and has been very well taken care of over the years. The Town Landau Coupe with the vogue color matching top looks great. I really like the factory wheels on this car they really give it a nice look. The body on this car is straight and the paint is in excellent condition and has a nice shine to it. The interior has the beautiful pillow top leather seats that show almost no wear and the back seats look like they hardly ever go sat in. Everything on this car works and is in great condition. The previous owner really cared for this car and kept in as clean as possible and really never drove it that much.

    I always look at these things and think about a modern v8 sleeper. Just toss a coyote motor in it. Beef the suspension a bit and have the factor wheels widened 2 inches in the rear. It'd be funny as hell to go around trashing hondas in that thing XD

    The 1980-82 Thunderbird was the first generation "Fox Bird" as it was the first such model to be built on the "Fox" chassis that debuted with the 1978 Ford Fairmont/Mercury Zephyr. The 1979 Ford Mustang/Mercury Capri also rode atop the Fox chassis.

    I like this car! The bands in the trans seem to be slipping and that can be repaired for a few hundred dollars. The power windows need new motors and the hourly labor is the expensive cost of that. A 1980s genuine Ford stereo can likely be found for less than a hundred dollars. The interior is well kept and I believe this is a 56,000 mile 1980 Thunderbird. I'd buy this car (when I retire next year but you will probably sell it by then). I'll be watching to see if you get any more 1980-82 Tbirds.

    Although thoroughly disparaged by T-Bird people, I really like them much better than the '77-'79 which to me are just rebadged Torinos with too small engines in them. I think of the '80-'82 T-Birds like having a Fairmont V-8 which is very responsive in the light body, but you can hardly ever find one. I like the clean, square lines more than the rounded '83s that were supposed to be so much better. FoMoCo had by far the best quality interiors and bodies of the Big Three at this time, too. I wish more people would give their cars the kind of driving you do in your videos as well. Did you happen to notice that clean '70 Chevrolet Impala coupe with what looked like a For Sale sign in the window at 10:24-10:27 as you were turning? 4 Queens, love it! What did this car finally sell for?

    Ford are still making better ideas now. 1980: keyless code entry, electronic fuel injection, electronic door dinger, electronic stereo, electronic gauges, electronic clock. Now: electronic parking assist, Microsoft Sync, Ecoboost engines, remote keyless start, knee airbag.

    Well, I think also that this Thunderbird may be one of the most beautiful TBird built ever. I think sizes of car are harmonious, it has a standard total long car, it's not extremadelly long as a boat (like 1972 model) not so selfish andd short as 1955 first version. One of the reasons it looks nice is it fender, same as Cadillac shape (a mix btw square and rounded) and wheels with tires no so big as 1979 model. The model all looks squarest than others, it gives it self a apariece of ellegance no doubt. :) Interior is tremendouslyand indisputed a gringo car, wonderfull luxury, big, chrome and wood shape (ok, eigthie car look a very false shape of wooden surfaces). I really love this car a very American car, nothing similar to an any European car. God save US nation and all cars created for the rest of the world. (PD: I always have wanted to do a tatoo in my back with a long bird logo of thunderbird 1960 design). XD Some day I will have it on my back, btw my heary shoulders. XD Cris, Santiago CL

      Cereal Marshmallows i was watching the video, im a ford tech and those early AOD transmissions have the pan that is flat. If the fluid level is low at all on those older transmissions and sometimes even when full on hills and hard turning the fluid will slosh back and forth and side to side and the pump will momentarily suck air and cause a slip which is not good in the long run. the fix is to install a later model pan which has a sump in the middle and an updated filter design with a pickup tube on it rather than the old flat style filter. i hope this may help in the future!

      Pressed Steel I had a 1980, white with burgundy landau top, and matching burgundy velour interior. It had the 255 CID small block V8.
      It wasn't fast, even by those day's standards, but it was dependable. It was my second car, my first being a 1975 Chrysler Córdoba (yes, with Corinthian leather) red, that I'd bought in '79 at 16. I bought the T Bird in 1982.
      I miss those days.

    These things were a pile of shit when brand new that was a failure because they remolded to a euro design in 1983 and in 1987 a new facelift for the front, and 1988 got a face lite as well and the last year was 1997. I'm surprised the venturee carburetor is working properly and the ignition coil hasn't caught failure there were all recalled for this from late 1980-1982

      Read the recall history buddy a list a mile long my da was a salesman at a dealership in the 80's they would run the other direction when someone traded one in dad said if they didn't have a bid less than 150.00 they didn't oen it no resale value. And we brought a 1980 model in 1993 for 700.00 to resale . It was am electrical nightmare a turd no one wanted it was perfect every thing worked we had for sale for 2 months and lost 250.00 to get rid of it. I've been buying and selling cars fro over 25 years. Ford lost their ass on this disaster. It was almost just as bad as the Edsel failure of 1957-1959. Many of these from late 1980-late 1981 caught fire due to bad ignition smirches and would pop out of gear for no reason. The gear box selector was faulty on these and if you had the Overdrive 4 speed trans you'll need an overall around 60,000 miles my neighbor bought one new in 1980 she said it was the sorriest excuse for a car. Needless to say she traded after 6 months she is still alive to tell the story. She traded it in for a 1981 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Brougham 4 door had no problems drove the Olds for 17 years and she sold it to be in pristine condition with 125,000 miles for 700.00 I was 17 at the time. she would watch us kids while our parents worked she brought a new car she knew I liked the 98 and sold it to me I drove it another 8 years sold it with 256,000 on the odometer did general maintaince no problems at all. Sold it to another friend it's still going now has almost 500,000 miles on the olds 307 never rebuilt never uses oil or leaks. She only drove this 80 t-bird less than 2500 miles. After that she brought Oldsmobile's Or Buicks now she's got a 2005 Buick Lesabre with 44,000 miles. before that she had a 1998 Olds 98 Regency she sold me before she got the buick

    • @superdan9er
      @superdan9er 7 лет назад

      We had one from brand new in 80 till like 1995.
      Fell off the shipping train before we got it, Repaired and was hit hard 3 times all by red cars. Never had a lick of problems with the car.
      In fact, I'm looking to find the same car but it seems ours was destroyed at some point and it was a 1 of 1 car so I guess it will have to be made if I want to own one again.
      I remember sneaking out at night and pushing the car out the driveway to go out joy riding.
