I had a toolbox full of Xcelite tools… Always thought they were some of the best. Had some for over 30 years and never had a problem. When I quit using them daily and left them in the toolbox in a hot garage they got that stinky white crud on the handle. No matter what I tried it was difficult to impossible to get that off of there. Until I saw RUclips presenter use clear ammonia. For less than $2 per 1/2 gallon at Walmart - an overnight soaking 'eats' that stuff off. It's amazing! Clear ammonia does the trick without need for scrubbing or rubbing.
Excellent restoration as usual. As a pass on MD, Harbor Freight sells a bag a various wooden stick cotton sticks. The sizes range from a small Q-tip up to a puff ball about the size of a quarter. Pretty sturdy and I’ve used them in my Dremel as well as my drill. I think I paid 5-6 bucks for a bag.
Quite a transformation. I’ve always enjoyed seeing old plastic handle screwdrivers come back to life. Even though there’s a few steps to the process it doesn’t take a ton of work to make them look new again. Well done Magdad😀👍
The screwdrivers cleaned up almost like new. Well done. Good to see the plastic had not degraded. As you mentioned, the yellow Philips #2 has excellent translucence even after all the years. Must have been a good grade of plastic. Dave.
Very nice cleanup. Those tools look like new. The tip of using a hair dryer to warm up old plastic is a good one. I really had to smile when I saw Chucks knitted Starwars friends. They are nicely done. I use Flitz and like it, but Plast X works well too. Sorry Chuck.
Nice job! They look great when you're finished but you really can't appreciate how well they look till you pick them up and spin them around close to the camera. Really nice! Thanks for another great video.👍🏻😎
The change you got is unbelievable! I like the handle on the oxwall with the thumb indentations.... and I think chucks the real winner...being able to go to a Star wars Convention 🤠👍 nice Magdad! Enjoyed
Great video Magdad! I had to chuckle when you mentioned sitting in the front row at a Gallagher show. My wife and I did that about 25 years ago. Good thing we had plenty of plastic 😂. You did a great job on the plastic handle screwdrivers. Thank You for sharing!
Did you put the screwdriver shafts in a drill press or a hand drill in order smooth the ends of the handles? Thanks for the tips about the 0000 steel wool, the Flitz and the Plastix cleaner from Meguiars, and for your methods of cleaning up the tips of the screwdrivers (an easily overlooked part of the process). The final results look great. And thanks for the CHUCK code for Flitz products - I have really taken advantage of the CHUCK discount since you first announced it a year or so ago.
Great work. I hope I'll find time to do a plastic handle soon, because I remember it to be lots of fun. I tried your steelwool trick on a really small project and it worked great so that was a fantastic tip! Have you seen how expensive that stuff became..
Nice Job !!! I found that with the clear handles like that Yankee Screwdriver...place the clear handle in a container covering it in Hydrogen Peroxide, and put the container in direct sunlight for a few days, and watch it turn almost crystal clear....it kills that vomit stank too...for awhile anyway...same with the the colored handles but you need to watch those for bleaching or fade out of the color...I am also a "Chuck" btw
Outstanding results! I was wondering if you’ve found a remedy for the plastic “puke smell” that comes with the screwdrivers , I know that Craftsman screwdrivers are notorious for it….
I’ve switched to Flitz on your recommendation for plastic leaving the Brasso to heavily oxidized metal. Really unfortunate that Stanley cheapened that push drill to the point of unusability; why bother with that grade of product when the previous versions were so much better. There is just no value in cheap goods, no matter if it’s tools or anything else. If you have to keep buying a replacement the “low price” is meaningless. Wonderful video by the way.
They look great and i am impressed with how clear the handles turned out with using the Flitz and the Plastix. Did Chuck bring you anything back from the convention? Thanks for sharing this.

Hi Magdad , Great Job Once Again . They all look good .
Thanks Wayne!
Excellent job on that box of Gabbige!! That Stanley must have been a gimmick home owner version eh!! Congrats on the 9K, welcome to the Club Bud!!☻
Your box of goodies has been fun! The quality of the Stanley was not impressive.
Some of the stuff in the Gabbige box has been pretty cool, and Magdad made them look and work great!
@@chriholt One Mans Gabbige is another Mans Treasure!! That box found its way into the right hands!!☻
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY MAGDAD!!!!!
Thank you!
I really cracked up about the Star Wars convention. Mrs. Magdad is quite talented.
Thanks Brian! Mrs Magdad is amazing!

Thanks Pat! Mrs Magdad does amazing work on those figures!
Very nice job on all three! Some times those Stanley drivers needed to be broke in and the right lube... =D Great stuff!
Thanks ScoutCrafter! That Stanley is a plastic piece of junk!
The screwdrivers turned out really nice. Thank you for these videos my screwdrivers are turning out much better.
Thanks Michael! I'm glad you're having fun cleaning up old tools!
The Stanley came out great. I like your cotton bud idea. I'll give it on my next project.
Thanks Chris! I got that trick from watching Mustie1!
Lookin good, thats a great tip using the cotton swabs in the power tool. Would have never thought of that.
Thanks! I stole that trick from Mustie1!
@@357magdad 🤣
Those handles really popped. I can't get over how well the Stanley cleared up.
Thanks!
Nice job! They look great when you're finished but you really can't appreciate how well they look till you pick them up and spin them around close to the camera. Really nice! Thanks for another great video.👍🏻😎
Thanks Mike!
I Like the green but the yellow is super clear and a nice yellow color
I was hoping the green handle would be more translucent.
They turned out nice. I bought a couple plastic Tiawanese "Yankees" just for the bits. I agree, the black handle good one is sweet, a REAL Yankee!
That model 45 push drill is my go-to cordless drill!
@@357magdad
I bought mine after seeing yours. I passed on it for about a year but luckily it was still there once I decided I wanted it!

I agree, they do look a lot better. Oh and, Happy Fathers Day!
Thanks Val!
I love that it says 29 cents right on there............My old Elgin Adjustable Alligator Wrench has Extra Jaw 25 cents stamped right on the jaw.
It's a pretty nice little screwdriver for 29 cents!
Excellent job mate. They look like new again.
Thanks Shed Man!
I want to say which one I like the best they all turned out beautiful
Thanks Larry! I like how that Bell System Phillips came out the best!
They turned out great. That ratcheting screw driver probably for very light use.
Thanks Aaron! It works OK as a screwdriver, but I think the drill bits were added as an afterthought.
Great video Magdad! I had to chuckle when you mentioned sitting in the front row at a Gallagher show. My wife and I did that about 25 years ago. Good thing we had plenty of plastic 😂.
You did a great job on the plastic handle screwdrivers. Thank You for sharing!
Thanks Jack! Mrs Magdad wasn't sure viewers would remember Gallagher!
@@357magdad I’m old 😂
Those look much better. Nice work.
I like polishing plastic by hand too. 😁😎
The 0000 steel wool + Flitz + PlastX is a good combination!
Great work! A plus on the background music too! Reminds me of the Woodright's Shop on PBS.
Thanks Bill! Mrs Magdad and I have fun picking out the music!
I remember having an Oxwall tool kit when I was young - super cheap, and worked *fairly* well
The green plastic is pretty nice for 29 cents!
Happy Fathers Day. great job on those plastic handles.
Thanks Tony!
They came out fantastic as usual magdad. Well done.
Thanks Ian!
LOL good thing Chuck had that convention. The screwdrivers turned out very nice. I enjoyed the video as always.
Thanks! I can't let Chuck catch me with that "other" polish!

Thanks for giving Flitz a try! I didn't use the drill press on these, just elbow grease.😁
Cotton swabs in a drill. I hope I can remember that this weekend. Nice video.
A viewer suggested cotton swabs with wooden sticks available on Amazon. They work better and come in different sizes.
Great work. I hope I'll find time to do a plastic handle soon, because I remember it to be lots of fun. I tried your steelwool trick on a really small project and it worked great so that was a fantastic tip! Have you seen how expensive that stuff became..
Thanks Alex! I keep my eye out for steel wool at the yard sales.
Great work Magdad!
Thanks Madstiles!
Nice job magdad! They look like brand new!!
Thanks!

Thanks for the tip Chuck!
They all turned out great. The green was my favorite. Could you add a stiffer spring in it to get it to work better?
Thanks WM3! The older models worked better. I wonder if they changed to a weaker spring because of all of the plastic?
Outstanding as always MagDad! 👍👍
Thanks Lila!
Congratulations on 9k. Well deserved.
Thanks Tony! I'll have to come up with something special to celebrate 10K!
Those look great. Amazing restorations!
Thanks Ben!
Nice work Magdad. I love the 29c on the Oxwall, that’s so cool. Shame Stanley, shame🤬
The Stanley was definitely a disappointment!
Great job those look better than new! Hope you are having a wonderful Father's Day!!
Thanks Mike! I had a great Father's Day!
Looks great 👍 nice job with the clean up.
Thanks!
Wow! 3 great drivers. To bad the Stanley was weak.
Thanks Robert! They took a great classic design and reduced it to plastic junk!
Outstanding results! I was wondering if you’ve found a remedy for the plastic “puke smell” that comes with the screwdrivers , I know that Craftsman screwdrivers are notorious for it….
Thanks John! I have tried clear coating the smelly handle sand it sort-of works.
The plastic handles look as good or maybe better than new. I am going to get some plastix to go with my flitz
Give it a shot and let me know how you like it!
I'd have to say my favorite is that dark green handle, don't see ones like that too often!
I dig that it's marked 29 cents too!
Yeah! Gives an idea of its age.
Excellent video. The cotton swab was a great idea!
I stole that trick from Mustie1!
I can attest your 3 step process works great!
Thanks Tom! I'm glad you had good results with it!
Those turned out beautiful brother. I almost died when you said starwars convention that was hilarious 😂
Chuck gets out more than I do!
I wonder if that spring from the Stanley is weak from the factory or just wore out. Can it be replaced?
I think they were meant to be screwdrivers and the push drill bits were added as an after thought. I could probably hot rod it with a stiffer spring.
Nice outcome Magdad. 👍
Thanks!

Thanks Michael! I like Brasso for brightening the knurling on the brass nesting screwdrivers.
May the Flitz be with you. Do you have any other's of those Bell System tools?
I've got a couple wood handle Stanley Bell system screwdrivers coming up!
I remember Gallagher good analogy.
Thanks!
I can't believe Chuck still doesn't have a sponsorship deal with Flitz. It's an insult that they haven't put him on the payroll!
He's a brand champion! The sent him a medal!
i love coloured plastic like i love antique coloured glass
It is satisfying to bring back the shine and translucency!

The 0000 steel wool + Flitz + PlastX is a winning combination! Chuck never brings me anything!

Thanks Michael!
That's good work 3MD! A little PlastX now and then is cool! But just a little... Chuck is sensitive...😆
Chuck gets very emotional...
Like always , they turned out Nice !!!!!!!
Thanks Barry!
Great content love the music choice 👍
Thanks Edgar! Mrs Magdad and I enjoy picking out the music!
Nice job! Nice presentation! The stanley looks nice, but I would only look at it. It appears to be a borderline gimmick version of those tools.
You would end up chucking it in your bucket!
nice on the plastic...you had me till the drilling test...💤 lol 😊
That cheap plastic Yankee couldn't make a hole in soft pine!
You have plastic restoring down to a science.
The 0000 steel wool + Flitz + PlastX treatment has been working for me!
I heard Chuck kicked an Ewok when he found out about the Plastex.
