I've tried my hand at three gun and PRS type events in the past, I was never that thrilled with either, but this NRL Hunter Series scratches me right where I itch. I need to learn more about rifle setups and limitations within the series and which calibers guys are running. I think I could get into this as it combines my love of hunting with long range shooting but removes some of the "gamer" types and vibes from the scenario which I never enjoyed. Thanks for sharing this video and if y'all should ever offer a class that focuses on this out at Ranch TX be sure to let us know, I would attend in a heartbeat. Please do more NRL Hunter videos, I am hooked.
It's a super fun format. As long as you don't get caught up in the "competition" aspect of it, it is a great way to train you on simple things like gear management, finding targets, making a wind call, and shooting from natural/field shooting positions! Thanks for watching!
Gotta love Wyoming with all the land it has to shoot freely. Glad to call it my home, I can shoot virtually anywhere with multiple different types of terrain. I'd love to shoot one of these matches!
Thanks for doing this! I found you while searching for NRL content and love the format you have here. This will be my first year doing any form of competitive shooting, so I'm trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible. This series is going to go a long way towards helping me understand NRL matches and see what I might encounter. Again, thanks!
I've attended a few rimfire hunter matches, and they are by far my favorite to shoot. Great to see the breakdown of your prep, and some behind the scenes details. It is nice to see more examples of teams running stages and how each of you operate. Looking forward to the rest of the episodes on this match
Thanks for sharing that, it looks like a blast, don’t think I’d ever be nearly that quick again but as long as I made it through I’d be happy. Thanks again
Nice video! Thanks for taking the time to put this content together. Love seeing how the team match runs on the NRL Hunter series is. Hope to go check it out in a few weeks in IN.
As someone that shot the match it’s super cool to see how others approach the same problems and damn that’s a tight match every point counts BIG. Super cool to see a mini series out of the deal
I'm glad to see some more Devil Dogs show casing their skills. Not that I don't appreciate all the SEALS and Green Berets putting out amazing content. I want more Marines. Semper Fi Devil Dogs. Sniping has sure changed a lot since my days. I'm looking to train with you soon.
Does the time remaining per stage reflect on your score? If two teams get all impacts but one team finishes 30 seconds earlier, do they win that stage?
I like the vibe. Did you guys run only one rangefinder for the team? Couldn’t tell if Ryan binos had a built in rangefinder. This is motivation. Keep vibing bro.
Yes, I ran my Terrapin X as the primary range finger. Ryan had Swarovski EL Ranges as back ups but for the most part I could find them all and laze them with my Terrapin.
I load more than eight rounds in a mag, that way if I have a misfire or accidentally eject a live round…I don’t have to hand load a round to fix it. Granted, that would only come into play if I miss all my shots anyway…which isn’t very likely but you never know. I always load nine or ten in my mags.
Talk about nerve wracking both of y'all having to find your targets, make adjustments and hit in a timed setting i would be pulling my hair out! Nice shooting feller's
What pack is Ryan using on his Stone Glacier frame? I've got one of their frames, and his pack is looking like a good size option for matches. Great video, BTW. Nice shooting!
That much noise and moving around on a deer at 240 and elk at 500, means those animals are gone before they ever put the cross hairs on the vitals. I also don't like the competition seems to promote a center of mass hit... Which would be a gut shot on both as well. I'm not sure picky about the predators, but for these two, it should be a reactive vital insert on the silhouette. Something else should be done to judge noise discipline and concealment, as that's true to actual hunting. I know you guys don't set the format, just my observations on a competition that's supposed to mimic hunting. Otherwise looks like a lot fun and a good way to train. Nice content guys.
You guys must've been using the super cool magnetospeed. With my sporter I have to wait about 15 seconds between shots or it won't register. Also, shout out to the world's smallest man bun
Honestly light rifles suck for everything but carrying lol Edit to add....to clarify I mean thst light rifles show how much the shooter does or doesn't suck lol 😆 .... I know when I was looking for a light 300wsm for sale I'd find one.......cause too many people buy them.....either can't take the recoil.....or can't shoot it....so they sell them.....lol
Hey Phillip, thanks for putting this together. I'm amazed at how fast you can acquire a target, settle in and break the shot. Nice job guys!
Absolutely the best long range shooting content on youtube. Thank you for giving the public insights and content that most shooters charge for
Great content man. Enjoying this series. Hope to shoot at this level some day
I wish matches like this came to the south east. While I would not be very competitive, I would love to shoot NRL hunter just for the fun of doing it.
They’re a lot of fun. I think they’re trying to expand that way. Hopefully soon!!
There were two in the southeast this year so far. Louisiana and Georgia. Another one back in Georgia soon.
Y’all are bad asses

Thanks for taking us inside the action. Amazing amount of workflow before and during the shoot.

Great job guys! Even though you guys shot clean you are looking to improve something, that’s what keeps it awesome. Thanks
Awesome content! Thanks for the effort in capturing all that you did.

Awesome run! Ryan did really well for his first NRL Hunter match.
He crushed it!
Great team work 🤝
I am so jealous of your matches you go . Here in Canada.......we are far behind!!!!
Keep it up awesome job!!!
Thanks Phillip. Great challñenge and videos. What is the name of that scope cam you use? nice footage. Thanks
Hi Phillip,
Is it allowed to use a scope like Burris Veracity Ph in NRL match? 😊
What type of tripod and binoculars attachments are those??

why cant i see the gear used in description
What caliber are you lads using? Cheers
What caliber did you guys go with for this match?
Though more aimed at hunters, and better than PRS, I am not sure if it will regularly draw the once or twice a year hunter.
Is it ever mentioned the caliber they are competing with? 😄
Is this a team match, or are all the NRL hunters like this?
Does the time remaining per stage reflect on your score? If two teams get all impacts but one team finishes 30 seconds earlier, do they win that stage?
What are the specs on the rifles?

Ryan is running the SG Kiowa 3200!

Also I may just be poor but I don't hunt with rigs like that lol. The fanciest rigs are usually coyote hunters 😂
☕💪
fuck this makes me want to shoot so bad! lol

I wish I could have watched the whole thing, the audio levels are really bad. I can barely hear you talking but gun shots are piercing loud 😬
nothing like hunting with a 14 or 15 pound rifle lol
Honestly light rifles suck for everything but carrying lol

Lift weights?
If you shoot your rifle more than just the weekend before opening day you understand why having a heavier rifle is beneficial.
20+ pounds big bore rifles are where it’s at. My 300PRC is heavvyyyy but it’s awesome. The weight means nothing
Well, they're not hunting (i.e. hiking through the high country for miles) so there's that.
Too easy
