I prefer to use for this purpose the table export in Applied Ballistics, then print it by Bluetooth with pocket thermal printer. If you are changing position, or direction you can quickly get a quick updated table
I like to use a .5 and a 0.8mm pen. This would make my intervals stand out. In excell you can print ever 2nd line in a light gray or blue, will make your eye catch and read your dope much easier. Ps. Wind 1 and wind 2 will help in the same card
This was great! Would love a video that talks about what you mean by "6 mph gun" and how you extrapolated wind across the dope cars from there. Thanks for the content!
Great example. I like to write the range in black pen and then the dial in black pen but highlighted with yellow highlighter and it almost illuminates the dial. Also if the stage has diamonds in a way out and circles on a way in I draw the symbol in front of both range and elevation, so it’s Kindergarten style.
Great idea. What I usually do is draw the target number or shape over the range number value so all I have to do is visually process either the number or shape when I'm in the moment. It's super easy for me and my eyes.
Hey Morgun, It' all depends on the time and opportunity afforded. Generally speaking anything at about 800 and in I'll go off of hard data because A. that's how I hunt and how I train snipers so I like to keep my brain trained for what I'm going to use these skills for in a practical sense. B. There's no need to use a Kestrel or a phone for targets inside that 800 yard marker. We find that it creates a lot of doubt in the shooter's mind and gets them worried about things that they really shouldn't be worried about. If I've got a long range stage in front of me and my targets are 800 and out, I'll defer to my ballistic computer for the most precise solution. In a hunting environment, I'll typically set my threshold for that based on the current wind conditions, but it's usually about 600-700. Beyond that, I'll consult the computer to make sure I've got the most accurate data. Truth be told, it's never much different, if at all, from my hard data card. Granted, that 800 yard mark is going to change for various cartridges, MV's and BC's. The industry's reliance on gadgets is a tough one to break. Apologies for the delay in response here too, hope you're well. -Caylen W.
great vid Caylen, but you got wind deflection as a line for 6 wind, 200 - .2, 300 - .3, 400 - .4, 500 - .5, 600 - .6 so you can easy predict your hold for that wind. my tip is do your dope with a wind speed that deflection is curved not a line. I know that you know what I mean. You just have to know that bullet you use in what wind speed it has a line deflection. make dope for 8 mph wind 6mph you know is a line data, 8 mph will be curved yet. shoot it smart
@@MODERNDAYSNIPER yes ure following it, now ure teaching this linear deflection as a gun data at webinar. u needed one year to understand thats great shortcut to know your rifle and bullet linear deflection number as a basic a fast solution. thumbs up ;)
This video would have saved me so much time last year. Thanks for the pointers on the DOPE cards. Like the idea of colored pens. Much easier to read.
Glad it was helpful!

I always write my cards out - it solidifies the learning process and gives me the ability to really see my DOPE and study it.
I'm glad you're back mr grimes
What this video reminded me was I need to rewatch the Hornady 4DOF seminar video. Lol. 4 more times.
Ha! Yeah, Jayden drops some serious heat in that one!

This video helped me so much in my last two matches. MDS provides extremely high-quality, high-value content.

Thanks Samuel! We can, but that video will most likely go into our paid content and our upcoming subscription service.
How awesome is that battle board. I fricken love mine.
Is yours a dry eraser type board? If so, I can't find it on there sight
@@HDdyna2008 no but i use dry erase markers on the clear acrylic covers. my guess is this is a custom whiteboard piece made by him. not hard to do.
Amazing! Thank you, what a time saver!

Thanks!

I love using the hornady 4DOF. It’s free.
Great video mate, thank you.
What model Battle Board is that?
What armband was used in this video for your data card?
This one was made by RE Factor Tactical, however I've since moved to usuing a product from Sunrise Tactical
Can you give me the specific equipment to purchase on battle board to purchase?
I'm sure the model has changed a bunch, that Battleboard is older.
What is your reasoning behind not using the Kestrel or phone in real-time at the match for DOPE for each specific target and wind?

What zero range are you using in this example?
100 yards
@@jasonmpd2946 So, with 140 ELDMs going at 2680 fps, he is zeroed at 100 yards and his 150 yard dope is +0.5 mrad. I don't think so.
@@npowers1432 Suppose so. 150yds on a 140ELDM is 0.16U. Might have just been a thrown together thing for B roll.
100 yard zero range. I believe it looks as if it were 0.5, but it's 0.15.

Vietnam Vets were making huge amounts of kills without all the tech and certainly with very low tech scopes. To me, all of this is an overkill.
Well, perhaps you should make us a video and show us how it's done the low-tech way. #runyourboltnotyourfingers
