They did not have violins on this song. That is their keyboard player providing that gorgeous accompaniment! In fact, that's one of the great things about UFO: they had one of the most Metal guitarists in Michael Schenker, one of the best vocalists in Phil Mogg, an outrageous Bass player named Pete Way, a great drummer named Andy Parker but also this great, tasteful keyboardist named Paul Raymond (who also played rhythm guitar)! The had the total package! The "Strangers In The Night" live album will give you a ton to "deep dive" on, trust me!

My favourite is No heavy petting, one of the most overlooked! The first Schenker era (the 70's) and the second Schenker era (the 90's) are the peak of this legendary band. Please make reaction to Diana Ankudinova!
Diana’s a contralto gifted with naturally occurring polyphonic overtones.
Diana's voice is like a rainbow of colors now and there's a pot of gold that's the gift at the end of the rainbow, and the rainbows being the various tones that and qualities that she has to offer through the song. Diana's polyphonic overtone sounding is indescribable happiness, delight and goosebumps. To perform all this with a contralto chest register, combining with a mixed and head register, ending each phrase with his own unforgettable yodeling technique, no one is able to perform songs, as Diana does.

BTW he is the Scorpions' Rudolf Schenker's "little" brother, and had multiple stints at his older brother's band. I like both of them but I enjoy Michael's playing more.
He's still going BTW, he's had multiple bands, most of the time it was the Michael Schenker Group, but there also was McAuley Schenker Group, Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock and similar iterations. They're worth listening to as well.

Michael was in the Scorpions for only one full album and part l of another. From 1974-1979, he was with UFO and really took them from obscurity to superstardom. As far as that 80’s metal scene you talked about, Michael Schenker was a major influence on nearly every metal guitarist in the 80’s. Check his wiki page and you will see a list of about 35 guitarists, most of whom you’ve heard of, who list him as a major influence. And it isn’t just because of his play. He is the best metal guitarist ever, in my opinion, bit he also influenced ( And is still influencing) Metal stylistically. Michael popularized the Flying V guitar and most people who play one, even now were influenced either by him directly, or by someone else who was influenced by Michael. To this day, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth tells people he plays a Flying V because of Michael Schenker.
By the way, Michael and several members of the Scorpions are from Hanover.
